Installation

Remove the plastic dust cover. Unscrew the transit screws on the turntable. Balance the pickup arm. Set the required stylus pressure. Connect the power cord to the mains.

The loudspeaker boxes (4 Ohm impedance) should be connected to the speaker plugs R and L using the supplied speaker cords, ensuring the left-positioned speaker is connected to plug L.

Operation

For operation of the record player/changer, refer to the enclosed instructions.

Turn the unit ON/OFF using the "ON-OFF" knob.

Adjust the volume using the "VOLUME" knob.

Set the "BALANCE" knob so that the sound volume from both speakers is equal from your listening position.

Low and high tone control can be adjusted using the "BASS" and "HIGH" knobs respectively.

To begin playback:

  1. Check correct stylus setting.
  2. Check correct speed control setting.
  3. Place record on turntable and release pickup from rest.
  4. Move operating control to PLAY.
  5. Place pickup on record.

After playing the record, the pickup returns to rest and the motor switches off.

To REJECT a record being played: Move the control to REJECT. The pickup will then lift, return to rest, and the motor will switch off.

To STOP the motor: With the pickup remaining on the record, move the control to OFF. Restart by moving the control to PLAY.

45 r.p.m. records with large centre holes can be played by fitting the special adaptor provided.

Note: Store and clean records as recommended by their manufacturers.

Before transporting, tighten transit screws counterclockwise and clip the pickup arm onto its rest.

Maintenance

Lubrication of the motor, turntable spindle, and rubber intermediate wheel bearings is rarely needed as they are oil-retaining. When necessary, remove the turntable and apply a small amount of thin machine oil sparingly. Remove all surplus oil with clean, dry cloths, especially from the motor pulley, intermediate wheel, and the inside of the turntable rim.

To Remove Turntable: Pull out the record spindle and remove the retaining clip, noting its position for correct reassembly. Lift the turntable by applying equal pressure on opposite sides.

The stylus must be kept clean and replaced when worn.

To Remove Pickup Head: Turn its locking collar fully clockwise and withdraw.

Adjustments

Pickup Lifting Height: This is factory-set but is adjustable by turning a screw near the back of the pickup arm. Turn clockwise to decrease and counterclockwise to increase it. The pickup arm must clear the front of its rest by approximately 1/16 inch on return. Switch off at this time to measure and adjust.

Stylus Pressure: This is adjusted by turning the knurled nut under the pickup arm clockwise to reduce and counterclockwise to increase it. If a pickup arm lift restrictor blade is fitted, turn it outwards to release before adjusting pressure.

If assistance is needed, please contact your dealer.

Optional accessories include the Garrard Stylus Pressure Gauge for checking stylus pressure, an attractively styled wood base, and a protective dust cover. These items are obtainable through your Garrard Dealer.
