Laserliner Quadrum / Quadrum Green Fully Automatic Rotary Laser
Introduction
This manual provides comprehensive operating instructions for the Laserliner Quadrum and Quadrum Green fully automatic rotary lasers. It covers features, functions, safety precautions, and technical data. Please read this document and the enclosed "Guarantee and additional notices" booklet completely before using the device. Keep this document in a safe place and pass it on with the laser device if it is transferred to another user.
Product Features and Functions
The Quadrum and Quadrum Green are fully automatic rotary lasers designed for precise transfer of height, alignment, and inclination measurements over large distances. They feature:
- Automatic self-alignment within an operating angle of ± 5°.
- Three electronic measurement sensors for X, Y, and Z axes fine adjustment.
- Anti-Drift-System (ADS) to prevent erroneous measurements by continuously monitoring alignment.
- Additional plumb and reference lasers for easier alignment of partitions.
- Manual slope mode for gradients up to 5°.
- Remote control operation for all functions.
- DLD technology for high line quality, a clean, clear, and easily visible line image, with improved temperature stability and energy efficiency.
- Green laser technology offers higher visibility, especially in unfavorable conditions.
General Safety Instructions
Laser Radiation Warning:
- Do not stare into the laser beam.
- Laser class 2: < 1 mW (635/650 nm EN60825-1:2014) and < 1 mW (515/650 nm EN60825-1:2014).
- Do not point the laser beam towards persons.
- If exposed to class 2 laser radiation, shut eyes immediately and move away from the beam.
- Do not use optical instruments (magnifying glass, microscope, binoculars) to view the laser beam or reflections.
- Do not use the laser at eye level (1.40 – 1.90 m).
- Cover reflective, specular, or shiny surfaces during operation.
- In public areas, shield the laser beam with barriers and partitions and use warning signs.
- Tampering with the device is not permitted.
- This device is not a toy and must be kept out of reach of children.
Device Usage:
- Use the device only according to its intended purpose and within specifications.
- The device has a Transport LOCK feature for protection during transport.
- The device is IP 66 rated, offering protection against dust and rain.
Operation Modes
- Rotary Mode: Set rotation speeds (0, 60, 120, 300, 600 rpm) using the rotary button.
- Spot Mode: Press the rotary button until the laser stops rotating. Use positioning buttons to rotate the laser.
- Scan Mode: Activate and set a light-intensive segment in 4 different widths using the scan and direction buttons.
- Hand Receiver Mode: For use with an optional laser receiver. Set the rotary laser to maximum speed and switch on the receiver. Refer to the receiver's manual.
Working with the Reference/Plumb Laser
The device includes a plumb laser for creating a plumb line in horizontal mode. In vertical mode, the plumb and reference lasers are used to align the device by positioning them parallel to the wall, ensuring the vertical laser plane is at a right angle to the wall.
Battery Charging
- Charge the device's battery completely before use.
- Connect the power pack/charger to the mains and the device's socket (J). Use only the supplied charger to avoid invalidating the warranty.
- The battery can be charged outside the device.
- The LED on the power pack/charger (N) is red while charging and turns green when complete. It flashes if the laser is not connected.
- Alternatively, 4 x Type C alkaline batteries can be used.
- Insert the battery (L) or battery compartment (K) into slot (G) and secure with screw (I). Ensure electrical contacts (H) are connected.
- The device can be used while charging if the rechargeable battery is inserted.
- If all 3 LEDs (2, 4, 5) flash briefly and the device switches off, the batteries need replacing or the rechargeable battery needs charging.
Remote Control
The remote control operates via infrared (IR) and has a range of up to 30 m. It requires 2 x 1.5 V AAA batteries.
Calibration Check and Adjustment
Regularly check and adjust the laser calibration:
- Calibration Check Preparation: Position the device between two walls (min. 5m apart), preferably on a tripod. Ensure the automatic sensor is active (auto/man LED off). Mark point A1.
- Performing Calibration Check: Turn the device 180° and mark point A2. Position the device near wall A1 at the height of A1, adjust for the X-axis, and mark point A3 after turning 180°. The difference between A2 and A3 is the tolerance for the X-axis. Repeat for Y and Z axes. If the difference exceeds 0.1 mm/m, adjustment is needed.
- Adjustment Mode: Activate by pressing ON/OFF and auto/man buttons until the X LED flashes rapidly. Use +/- buttons to move the laser to reference point A2. Save settings with the Scan button or cancel by switching off the device. For Z-axis adjustment, set the device vertically.
