Non-fluorocarbon Refrigerator Information:
This refrigerator, including refrigerant and heat insulator, uses hydrocarbon (non-fluorocarbon). Hydrocarbon is a material that does not deplete the ozone layer and has very little influence on global warming. It is an environmentally friendly material.
R600a refrigerant is flammable. However, the refrigerant is sealed within the refrigerant circuit and will not leak under normal use. In case the refrigerant circuit is damaged, avoid using fire and electric products, open windows, and ventilate. Afterwards, please contact the Hitachi Service Center.
Disposal: This symbol indicates that the product is an electronic product and should not be disposed of with general household waste. Do not disassemble; avoid harming health and the environment. Dispose of the refrigerator correctly at a designated facility.
Preparation and Operation
Preparation Before Use:
- Ensure proper ventilation around the refrigerator, do not block ventilation openings.
- Cool food before placing it in the refrigerator. Placing warm food increases the refrigerator's load and energy consumption.
- Do not store food uncovered. This can cause the refrigerator to not cool evenly and food near vents may freeze.
- Wrap food to prevent drying out and odor transfer.
Door Operation:
- Opening Doors: Do not pull the door handle while the door is open. The door will automatically align when closed.
- Closing Doors: When closing the door, the door will automatically align. If the door is damaged, it may not close properly, leading to cold air leakage.
- Moisture on Door Pockets: The inside of the door pockets is equipped with a moisture-absorbing system, so the door pocket may feel slightly damp. This is normal.
- Condensation on Door Handles: You may feel moisture on the door handles when opening or closing the door. This is normal.
Compartments and Operation:
- Fresh Select: This feature is designed for storing fresh food.
- Refrigerator Compartment:
- External Water Dispenser: Instructions on how to use the water dispenser.
- Automatic Ice Maker: Instructions on how to use the automatic ice maker.
- Twist Ice Maker: Instructions on how to use the twist ice maker for easy ice removal.
- Freezer Compartment: For freezing food and making ice.
Temperature Adjustment:
You can adjust the temperature for the refrigerator and freezer compartments using the touch panel.
Normal Temperature Setting (5 steps): [touch-icon] "Temp. Control" button to adjust the temperature. The indicator lamp will change accordingly.
Fine Adjustment (9 steps): [touch-icon] and hold the "Temp. Control" button for 5 seconds until a [sound-pi] sound is heard. The indicator lamps will show the 9-step setting (Cold, Normal, Coldest). Each touch of the button cycles through the settings (Lighting, Blinking, Turned off).
To Cancel Fine Adjustment: [touch-icon] and hold the "Temp. Control" button for 5 seconds until a [sound-pipi] sound is heard. This returns the setting to the normal 5-step adjustment.
Sound Indicators:
- A single [sound-pi] sound indicates normal operation or selection.
- A [sound-pipi] sound indicates activation of functions like Quick Freezing or when the freezer compartment is not cold enough due to high ambient temperature.
Notice:
- If the power plug is unplugged or a power failure occurs, the temperature display and settings will resume automatically after the refrigerator restarts, except for "Quick Freezing" operation which will be cancelled.
- All LEDs become unlit approximately 30 seconds after the end of operation.
- Touch panel response may vary depending on surrounding temperature, humidity, user's condition, or other electrical products. The panel may not respond if it is wet or dirty.
- There is no sound when touching any button if the door alarm sound is deactivated.
Other Functions:
- Quick Freezing: Use this function when making ice quickly or freezing food rapidly, or when the ambient temperature is high and the freezer is not cold enough.
- Energy Saving: This function helps optimize energy consumption.
- Child Lock: This feature prevents accidental changes to settings by children.
- Door Alarm: Alerts the user if a door is left open for an extended period.
Drawer and Shelf Adjustment:
To adjust shelves:
- Pull up the back of the shelf and pull the shelf forward.
- Adjust the refrigerator shelves by combining them with stored food.
- Shelf trims are removable. Hold the shelf with both hands when removing trims.
[caution-icon] CAUTION: Do not hold the trim or shelf with only one hand, as it may drop or cause injury.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and hygiene.
- Cleaning the Interior: Wipe the interior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. If necessary, use a mild detergent and then wipe with clean water. Dry thoroughly.
- Cleaning Removable Parts: Shelves and drawers can be removed for cleaning. Wash them with mild detergent and water, then dry completely before reinserting.
- Cleaning the Exterior: Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners.
- Cleaning the Condenser Coils: Periodically clean the condenser coils at the back of the refrigerator to ensure efficient operation. Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning.
