Dishwasher Cleaning

Interior Cleaning

Clean the dishwasher at least once a year. Heavy use may require more frequent cleaning. A vinegar or citric acid bath removes soap and rinse aid from the dishwasher interior. Never use anti-freeze, Draino®, CLR® or other chemical cleaners.

  1. Remove all dishes from dishwasher.
  2. Place a dishwasher safe container with 2 cups of vinegar on the bottom rack or fill the soap compartment with citric acid crystals.
  3. Run a 'Normal Wash' cycle.

Controls

Keep control panel and key pads clean and free from grease.

  1. Turn dishwasher off.
  2. Wipe with a damp cloth. Do not use household cleaners.

Filters

Clean the filters at least once a year. Heavy use may require more frequent cleaning.

  1. Remove the lower rack.
  2. Rotate the filter basket handle counterclockwise to remove.
  3. Lift up on the filter basket handle to separate it from the fine filter.
  4. A flat, rectangular filter cover surrounds the filter area. Lift to remove. The vent on the filter faces the front of the unit when installed.
  5. Clean all components with soap and water to remove debris and build-up, then reinstall filters.

Food Waste Disposer

Cleaning the waste disposer connected to the dishwasher reduces odors. Follow the disposer manufacturer's cleaning instructions.

Door Edge | Rubber Seal

  2. If necessary, spray household cleaner on the cloth. Do not spray directly on the door.

Washer Cleaning

Interior Cleaning

The washer may require cleaning to remove soap residue from the interior.

  1. Add 2 cups (500 ml) bleach to the liquid detergent compartment.
  2. Run a regular wash cycle and select a hot water temperature.
  3. Add 2 cups (500 ml) vinegar to the liquid detergent compartment.

  6. Run a final regular wash cycle and select a hot water temperature.

Exterior Cleaning

  1. Wipe with a soft, damp cloth to clean exterior.

Gasket Seals

Regular cleaning can prevent residue buildup that may lead to odors. Some ASKO washers have a solid door seal that will not collect odor or debris and do not require cleaning.

  1. An opening at the top of the seal can collect debris. Separate the seal by pulling it apart at the top to clean.
  2. Use a mixture of equal portions vinegar and water, then wipe with a soft cloth to clean.
  3. Dry with a soft cloth.

Hard Water Stains

If the washer is connected to hard water (9+ grains per gallon), consult a local water utility or area water softening company to determine the best resolution.

  1. Pour approximately 1 ounce (30 ml) of citric acid into the wash drum.
  2. Run a regular wash cycle and select a hot water temperature.
  3. Repeat if necessary.

Drain Filter

The drain filter collects items such as threads, coins, pins, buttons and items left in pockets. Clean the drain filter regularly to avoid drainage problems.

  1. Open drain pump cover using a flat blade screwdriver.
  2. Pull out hose.
  3. Remove hose cap and drain water into a bowl or onto towels. Use caution when draining hot water.
  4. When water flow stops, turn pump filter counterclockwise to remove.
  5. Remove any debris from filter.
  6. Reinstall filter by turning clockwise.
  7. Reinstall hose cap and place hose into its holder.
  8. Close drain pump cover.

  3. Remove lint from all sides of the filter.
  4. Close filter and reinstall.

Once a month

Condenser (Condenser Models Only)

Clean the condenser approximately every 3-6 months. Heavy use may require more frequent cleaning.
