MIPRO MI-58T / MI-58TD 5.8 GHz Digital Stereo Transmitter User Guide

I. Part Names. Fig. 1

The MI-58T and MI-58TD transmitters feature various components for operation and connectivity. Key parts include:

II. Operating Instructions

1. Antenna Installation:

Proper antenna installation is crucial for optimal transmitting efficiency. Options include:

2. Power:

Connect the supplied 12~15VDC / 1A power supply to the DC Input Jack 15. Route the cable through the cable hole 16 to prevent accidental disconnection.

3. Power On:

Press the Power Button 1 to turn the unit ON. The OLED screen backlight will illuminate and display operational parameters.

4. Analog Audio Inputs:

Connect stereo input signals via XLR plugs or a mixed mono signal via a 6.3 Ø phone plug into the AF IN XLR Combo Jack 14. The LOOP OUT sockets (L and R) allow for daisy-chaining audio signals to other transmitters.

5. Input Signals Level Indicator Setting:

Adjust input signal levels to avoid high noise floor (too low) or distortion (too high). Use the L/R-LEVEL Buttons 6 to set the LEVEL Meter to 0. Activate the source output and set the output level to maximum. Observe the L/R Input Quality Indicator 5:

6. Headphone Monitoring:

Insert headphones into Jacks 3 or 4 and adjust Volume Control 2 for adequate volume. Warning: Prolonged exposure to loud sounds may cause hearing damage or loss.

7. Rack-mounting Two Units Side-by-side:

III. OLED Panel Operating Instructions

1. Rotary Control Knob: Menu Settings (Fig. 8)

The Rotary Control Knob 9 is used for navigating and setting parameters:

2. RF OUT:

Set the RF signal ON or OFF (Fig. 9).

3. GRP&CH:

Set the GROUP (A, B1, B2) and CH (1~12) (Fig. 10).

4. ID Code:

Select from 64 different IDs (01-64) for each channel. A proprietary 65th Pairing Mode (P) allows for 1-to-1 transmitting and prevents interference from other receivers (Fig. 11).

5. AF IN:

Select Analog XLR or digital Dante input (Fig. 12). In Dante mode, LEVEL buttons are not functional; adjust gain from the source of digital audio.

6. ST/MONO:

Select Stereo (ST) or Mono (L/R Mixed) mode (Fig. 13).

7. Set Lock:

Enable or disable the lock function (YES/NO) (Fig. 14).

8. Net:

Access the ACT BUS interface for address setting (Fig. 15).

9. ENG. Mode (Engineer Mode) (Fig. 16):

This mode allows loading settings between MI-58R receivers. Ensure all parameters are loaded from the transmitter and set names correctly. Load or Send actions require ACT sync. The screen displays "ACT..." during synchronization.

10. Version ?:

Displays the current firmware version (Fig. 17).

11. Exit & Save?:

Save changes and exit to the Home screen (Fig. 18).

12. ACT sync operating:

IV. Network Connection

Connect transmitters for remote control via web browsers using the MES-100.

V. MI-58TD Dante Network Operation

Connect MI-58TD via Dante port using Cat.5, Cat.5e, or Cat.6 cable to the Ethernet switch to construct the Dante network.

VI. Cautions & Recommendations

  1. Avoid using the same frequency bands when mixing MIPRO IEM and MIPRO wireless microphone systems to prevent interference.
  2. Use a 50Ω coaxial cable to connect the transmitter to the external antenna. RG-58 or 3D cable should not exceed 2 meters. Recommend 5D-FB or 8D-FB cable for longer lengths to decrease cable loss.
  3. Maintain line-of-sight between transmitter and receivers for optimal reception quality, especially outdoors. Indoor reception quality may degrade due to obstacles and objects absorbing radio waves.
  4. Power supply voltage should be between 12V and 15V, with at least 1A output current. Insufficient voltage can cause instability or malfunction; exceeding voltage can cause product damage.
  5. MI-58T/MI-58TD stationary transmitters should pair with the MI-58R bodypack receiver.

VII. Notes

  1. Refer to the actual product in case of discrepancy.
  2. Carrier frequency range, RF power, and maximum deviation comply with regulations of different countries.

Federal Communication Commission Interference Statement

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with FCC Part 15 limits for Class B digital devices, designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in residential installations. If interference occurs, try reorienting the antenna, increasing separation, connecting to a different circuit, or consulting a dealer/technician.

FCC Caution: Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate this equipment. Use only shielded interface cables.

FCC Radiation Exposure Statement: This equipment complies with FCC RF radiation exposure limits for an uncontrolled environment. Install and operate with a minimum distance of 20 cm between the radiator and your body. The transmitter must not be co-located or operating with any other antenna or transmitter.

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
