Troubleshooting
What should I do when the "Unknown Modem" message displays?
- Check if your 3G modem/card is on the Compatibility List: www.tp-link.com/common/?3g
- If it's on the list but still shows "Unknown Modem", download and install the latest firmware from the TP-LINK website.
- If the latest firmware doesn't support your modem/card, contact TP-LINK technical support.
What should I do if I cannot get Internet access with an identified 3G USB Modem?
- Ensure a suitable SIM/UIM card is correctly inserted into the 3G modem/card.
- Plug the 3G modem/card directly into your PC and disable PIN verification using the modem utility.
- Verify that your Internet connection is working on your PC.
- Ask your ISP for the latest dial number and APN, and manually correct the pre-set information in the router.
What should I do if I want to update the firmware?
- TP-LINK continuously tests new 3G modems/cards for compatibility. Download the latest firmware from the TP-LINK website for the best user experience: www.tp-link.com/en/support/download.aspx
- Navigate to "System Tools" > "Firmware Upgrade" in the router's interface to update to the latest version.
