Pelco camera integrations with ONVIF profiles
The Open Network Video Interface Forum, most commonly known as ONVIF, is an open industry forum that provides and promotes open interfaces to the security industry for effective interoperability. ONVIF develops interface specifications that enable communications between networked components of a physical security system. Pelco is actively involved in the technical and executive leadership in ONVIF standards, which are the primary means for integrating Pelco cameras with ONVIF conformant video management systems and other applications.
ONVIF Profiles and Pelco Camera Support
ONVIF Profile S
Designed for IP-based video systems, is for basic video streaming over IP networks. It also covers specifications for PTZ control, audio in, multicasting and relay outputs for devices and clients that support these features. All Pelco products support ONVIF Profile S.
ONVIF Profile T
For advanced video streaming specifically for H.264 and H.265 video compression. It also adheres to the ONVIF specifications for PTZ configuration, motion region configuration, metadata streaming, digital inputs and relay outputs, and bidirectional audio. Most Pelco cameras support ONVIF Profile T, with all cameras released from 2020 and forward supporting ONVIF Profile T.*
ONVIF Profile G
Provides edge storage and retrieval, which allows devices to record video data over an IP network or directly on the device. Profile G also enables configuration, request control of video data and receives audio and metadata streams. Pelco products with SD cards support ONVIF Profile G.*
ONVIF Profile M
Supports metadata, events and object bounding boxes. It also enables the ability to search the metadata detecting the object type between a person or vehicle in a specific scene. Users can leverage their existing video security systems as Profile M provides increased interoperability with any VMS such as VideoXpert, Genetec and Milestone. Pelco products with Smart Analytics and Advanced Analytics will support this feature.*
ONVIF benefits for system integrators/specifiers
- Greater Product Choice - ONVIF conformant products allow you to create a flexible, cost-effective and enduring system.
- Assured Interoperability - ONVIF conformance means that a product is conformant with one or several ONVIF profiles. When a device (camera) and a client (VMS) are both ONVIF conformant to the same profile, they communicate with each other.
- Easier Integration - makes integration of products from different vendors easier.
