This document provides a comprehensive guide for installing and configuring the Hager TJA670 domovea Basic and TJA470 domovea Expert systems. It covers system overview, software installation, initial setup, project management, available functions, device details, and integration with external services.

1 Introduction

The objective of this document is to familiarize installers with the domovea server's configuration interface. It outlines the steps required for correct configuration, including system installation, network connection, and the use of mobile devices or PCs.

1.1 Document Objective

This document aims to guide installers through the configuration process of the domovea server. Key requirements include having the equipment installed, the server connected to the internet via a DHCP-enabled router, and being equipped with a mobile device (smartphone, tablet, PC) connected to the same network. An installer also needs a professional account on the myHager portal.

Note: It is highly recommended to use your own DHCP router (Wi-Fi + 3G/4G) for configuration and testing.

1.2 General Information on KNX Installations

A KNX installation is an electrical system where products communicate via a bus (wired or radio) to send or receive commands. Products can be classified by their connection to the KNX bus (wired or radio) and by their function (input, output, or system products).

  • Wired products: Connected to the KNX bus via a KNX-compliant cable.
  • Radio products: Connected via a KNX radio link, which can be unidirectional (emitters only) or bidirectional (emitters and receivers).
  • Input products: Send commands (e.g., push buttons, presence sensors).
  • Output products: Receive commands and control connected loads (e.g., lighting, shutters).
  • System products: Essential for installation operation (e.g., bus power supply, media coupler).

2 General Description

2.1 System Presentation

domovea is a command and visualization software for KNX and IoT installations, allowing access to home automation functions via electronic devices. It offers features like disabling sequences, configuring the home based on events, and visualizing command execution.

2.2 System Overview

The domovea system comprises three modules:

  • Server: TJA670 or TJA470, the physical interface between the KNX bus and the home IP network.
  • Client: Software installed on a smartphone, tablet, or PC for user interface.
  • Configurator: Software used to configure and program the client interface, accessible via PC, smartphone, or tablet using the Hager Pilot application or a web browser.

The system structure involves the KNX bus, a LAN network (router/switch/WLAN), and internet connectivity, allowing interaction with devices like smartphones, tablets, PCs, and smart home assistants (Google Home, Amazon Echo).

Diagram Description: A diagram shows the KNX bus connecting to the domovea server (TJA670/TJA470). The server is connected via LAN to a router/switch/WLAN, which provides internet access. Clients (PC, smartphone, tablet) connect to the network. Smart home assistants like Google Home and Amazon Echo are also shown connected to the network, indicating integration capabilities.

2.3 domovea Solution

The domovea server is available in two versions: Basic (TJA670) for basic functions and Expert (TJA470) for advanced functions. A summary table compares features like integrated configurator, maximum devices, IP cameras, voice assistant integration, sequence limits, remote access, KNX/IP interface, virtual thermostats, and video intercom integration.

2.4 Presentation of the TJA670-TJA470 domovea Server

2.4.1 Configuration Server

The server connects an IP network to KNX bus systems. It requires two applications: Hager Pilot for configuration and the domovea application for the end-user. The product connects to the KNX bus via connector 13 and to the local IP network via Ethernet ports 15 and 16. Compatible operating systems are iOS 11 or Android 6 and above.

Diagram Description: A diagram shows the physical connections of the TJA670/TJA470 server. It highlights the KNX bus connection (terminal 13), Ethernet ports (15, 16), power input (24V), and status LEDs (OK, on-line, off-line). The diagram also shows the internal components and their numbering.

2.4.2 Software Version Update for the domovea Server

Before the first update, it is mandatory to update the server's software. Updates can be performed automatically by connecting the server to an internet-enabled router or manually by copying the update file to a USB pen drive.

Automatic Update: Connect the server to a router with internet access. The connection and update are automatic. Refer to section 5.2.1.1 for details.

Manual Update: Download the update file from the Hager website. Copy it to an empty USB pen drive, insert the USB drive into one of the server's USB ports. The 'OK' LED will blink for about a minute, then stay lit. Remove the USB drive to complete the update.

2.4.3 Auto/Router Functionality

Both Ethernet inputs can be used to connect the server to the local network. They are switched inputs associated with a single software interface. The table below details the behavior based on the switch settings (online/auto, PC, offline/auto/PC) and the network connection status.

Switches Ethernet Input Reaction Connection to Internet Status on KNX Bus
COM ② SEL Ethernet Input 1 Ethernet Input 2
online Auto This is the normal operating mode when connected to an external router (ISP). The server can be configured via DHCP or with a fixed IP address. In DHCP client mode (factory default), the server requests an IP address from the router. If none is assigned within 40 seconds, it defaults to 192.168.0.253. With a fixed IP, parameters are set in the 'Configuration-Interface' menu. Note: With a fixed IP, the server does not automatically adopt the default address in case of IP conflict. active active
PC Used when the PC is directly connected to the server. This mode activates the integrated DHCP server. The two inputs are interchangeable and configured with specific parameters: IP address: 192.168.0.253, Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0, Default gateway: 192.168.0.1, Assignable IP range: 192.168.0.10 to 192.168.0.50. active active
offline Auto/PC This mode configures the server as a DHCP client. If no IP address is assigned by a DHCP server after 40 seconds, the server assumes the default address: 192.168.0.253 / 255.255.255.0. inative inative
