Receiver Connections
A diagram illustrates the R84 receiver. It shows terminals labeled CH1/2, CH3/4, and DC4.5-8.4V. Each channel terminal and the DC input terminal have '+' and '-' pins for power and signal connections.
Bind Method
- Press and hold the BIND button on the receiver, then connect power. After approximately 3 seconds, the receiver LED will turn solid RED, indicating it is in bind mode.
- On your remote control, select the D8 protocol from the multi-protocol menu and press the [BIND] option. The receiver's red light will flash, signifying successful binding.
- Exit bind mode on your remote control. Disconnect power to the receiver and then power it on again. The receiver's LED should now be solid RED, indicating the bind process is complete. If the bind is not successful, repeat steps 1 and 2.
Fail-safe Protection
- Within 10 seconds of powering on the receiver, press the BIND button once. This action saves the current channel values from the remote control as the fail-safe values.
- After the receiver has been powered on for 10 seconds, the BIND button function is disabled. This prevents accidental changes to the fail-safe settings while preparing the model for flight.
Frequency Fine-Tuning
Important Note: D8 and D16 protocol receivers require frequency fine-tuning before their first use. This process eliminates frequency errors between the transmitter and receiver, ensuring optimal control range and stability. Follow these steps:
- Gradually decrease the 'RF Freq. fine tune' value until the receiver loses signal. Record this value (TUNE_MIN). This value is typically negative.
- Gradually increase the 'RF Freq. fine tune' value until the receiver signal is restored, then continue increasing until the receiver signal is lost again. Record this value (TUNE_MAX). This value is typically positive.
- Calculate the midpoint value using the formula: (TUNE_MIN + TUNE_MAX) / 2 = MIDPOINT_VALUE.
- Set the 'RF Freq. fine tune' parameter to this calculated midpoint value.
Example: If the signal is lost at -73 and regained/lost at +35, the calculation is: (-73 + 35) / 2 = -19. The 'RF Freq. fine tune' value should be set to -19.
Once the correct Fine Tuning value is determined, it can be applied to all models using the same protocol.
