INSTRUCTION MANUAL

WARNING: To reduce risk of fire, electrical shock or injury, the following necessary safety precautions should always be followed when using an electrical appliance.

WARNING:

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.

DANGER:

To reduce risk of electrical shock, DO NOT IMMERSE THE APPLIANCE IN WATER OR OTHER LIQUIDS.

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING

To reduce the risk of contact with hot water emitting from the Steam Nozzle, test the appliance before each use by positioning it away from the body and turning it ON. Do not operate the unit if the Steam Nozzle is blocked.

Use the appliance for its intended purpose only.

Appliance should always be turned "OFF" before plugging or unplugging from outlet. Never yank the cord to disconnect from outlet; instead, gently pull the plug to disconnect.

Do not allow the cord to touch hot surfaces. Let the appliance cool completely before storing it away. Loop cord loosely around the appliance when storing.

Do not direct steam at people or animals, or use steamer on garments while they are being worn.

Always disconnect the appliance from the electrical outlet when filling with water, emptying, or when not in use.

Do not operate the device with a damaged cord or if the appliance has been dropped or damaged. To avoid the risk of electrical shock, do not disassemble or attempt to repair the appliance. Contact PurSteam Customer Service immediately. Incorrect reassembly can cause risk of fire, injury, and electrical shock to persons when the appliance is in use.

This unit is not intended for use by people (including children) with reduced physical, reduced sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge.

Children should be supervised by the responsible person to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

Burns could occur from touching hot metal parts, hot water, or steam.

Never pour water directly into the reservoir. Pour water in the water tank only.

Never drop or insert any object into any opening or hose.

Always keep the hose and nozzle elevated above the water tank.

Steam only in an up and down vertical motion. Never use the steamer in a horizontal position or tilt into a backward position; this may result in hot water discharge.

Do not place the Steam Nozzle directly on any surface or the appliance power cord while it is hot or plugged in. Use the stand provided.

When changing attachments, please make sure that the unit is OFF and no steam is being released, in order to avoid contact with hot water.

Use caution when changing attachments, as they may contain hot water from condensation.

The use of accessory attachments other than those provided by PurSteam is not recommended and may result in fire, electric shock, or personal injury.

This unit is for indoor use only.

To avoid a circuit overload, do not operate another high wattage appliance on the same circuit.

If an extension cord is necessary, a 15-ampere rated cord should be used. Cords rated for less amperage may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot be pulled or tripped over.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY

PRODUCT INFORMATION

The PurSteam Professional Series Garment Steamer, Model PS-950X, includes the following components:

The steamer features adjustable steam settings for different fabric types: Linen, Cotton, Wool, and Silk, with an OFF position.

ASSEMBLY

Install the Telescopic pole

  1. To insert the Telescopic poles into the main body, first loosen the clips on the poles by swinging their hinges outward. Align the slots from inside of the pole openings on the main body with the slots on the Telescopic poles and push the Telescopic poles down into place.
  2. Extend the Telescopic poles by fully extending each section of the pole. To lock, close/tighten the clips. Perform this step with all clips to extend the pole fully. Make sure the pole is securely locked in place.

To remove Telescopic poles from the main body, release the clips on both poles and take the poles out.

Attach the Steam Hose

Install the Hose onto the hose connector by turning the fitting at the end of the hose clockwise to tighten in place.

Attach the Multifunctional Hanger

  1. Install the Multifunctional Hanger on top of the Telescopic poles.
  2. Insert the Collar Hanger on top of the Multifunctional Hanger.
  3. Hang the steam nozzle on the Collar Hanger.

The Multifunctional Hanger provides multiple ways to hang garments for steaming:

Attaching the Fabric Brush

The Fabric Brush is designed to brush away particles such as lint, hairs, and loose threads.

  1. Make sure the unit is OFF and not emitting any steam before attaching the Fabric Brush.
  2. CAUTION: Do not try to connect the Fabric Brush while the unit is emitting steam, as this can cause burns and injury.
  3. Press the Fabric Brush firmly onto the Steam Nozzle. The two pegs will fit into the two larger holes on the face of the nozzle, while the latch fits over the top of the nozzle.

Remove the Fabric Brush once the unit is unplugged and completely cool by first releasing the latch from the top of the nozzle and then pulling off the rest of the brush.

Using the Mini Ironing Board

The "Y" shaped Mini Ironing Board is designed to help you steam pockets, sleeves, collars, or any corner of your garment.

Attaching the Pants Press

The Pants Press attachment is designed to provide a more finished look, giving structure and creases to dress shirts, collars, sleeves, plackets, hems, and pants.

  1. Make sure the unit is OFF and not emitting any steam before attaching the Pants Press.
  2. CAUTION: Do not try to connect the Pants Press while the unit is emitting steam, as this can cause burns and injury.
  3. Connect the flute of the Pants Press to the pegs at the bottom of the Steam Nozzle. Push the Pants Press until it locks in place.
  4. Push on the handle of the Pants Press to open it. Place the garment between the open Pants Press and the Steam Nozzle, then release the Pants Press handle. Move the Steam Nozzle in a downwards motion starting from the top to make pant creases easily or to remove stubborn wrinkles.

Remove the Pants Press by pressing the unlock buttons on each side and pulling the attachment off the Steam Nozzle.

FILLING THE WATER TANK

  1. Unplug the Power Cord and turn the Power Switch to the "OFF" position.
  2. Remove the Water Tank, turn it upside down, and unscrew the Valve Cap. Fill the Water Tank with cold water, and put back in place the Valve Cap. Do not use hot water.
  3. Note: To prolong the lifetime of your steamer, PurSteam recommends using distilled or demineralized water.

  4. Place the water tank back into the unit and make sure it is sitting correctly and securely in the cavity/water reservoir.

IMPORTANT: Do not let the steamer operate with an empty water tank, or damage to the unit may occur.

Never use water that contains additives (starch, perfume, aromatic substances, softener, etc.) in the steamer. Additives such as these can affect the properties of the steam and lead to the formation of deposits.

USING YOUR STEAMER

Only operate the steamer on the floor, clear of any materials which may obstruct the base of the steamer (flat and horizontal surface).

IMPORTANT: Do not operate the unit with an empty Water Tank.

  1. Plug in the power cord and turn on the power by choosing the desired steam power using the Steam Setting button. Steam should start flowing from the Steam Nozzle in approximately 45 seconds.
  2. Note: Expect gurgling sounds and possible water droplets with steam during the first minutes as the Hose heats up.

  3. To steam a garment, place it on a clean, rust-free clothes hanger, place the hanger on the drop-down bar, or use the Multifunctional Hanger to hang your clothes.
  4. Grasp the Handle, and place the Steam Nozzle at the bottom of the garment. Steam will rise along the inside and outside of the fabric, removing wrinkles. Slowly slide the nozzle vertically, from the bottom to the top of the garment. Repeat this step until the fabric is wrinkle-free.
  5. When you have finished with your steaming session, place the Steam Settings button to the "OFF" position, and remove the plug from the outlet. Refer to the Cleaning and Storage section for proper cleaning and storage procedures.

NOTE

CAUTION

WARNING: Never steam a garment while it is being worn. The Hose and Steam Nozzle may become hot during use. This is perfectly normal. Be careful and avoid any prolonged contact.

TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL STEAMING

Test the garment on an unobtrusive area, such as an inner seam. PurSteam recommends checking the garment care label for manufacturer recommendations.

CLEANING AND STORAGE

PurSteam recommends following this procedure after each use, but at least once per week:

  1. Turn OFF the unit and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
  2. Allow the unit to cool (30 minutes for complete cooling).
  3. Remove the Water Tank from the unit. Unscrew the Valve Cap and drain all remaining water from the Water Tank.
  4. Open the Drain Plug and drain all remaining water from the Water Reservoir to prevent overfilling during your next use. Securely replace the Drain Plug and place the empty Water Tank back onto the Base.
  5. For storage convenience, you may wish to collapse the Telescopic Poles to the most compact height.
  6. Hang the Steam Nozzle in an upright position on the Steam Nozzle Holder when not in use.
  7. Loosely bundle the power cord and store the unit in a cool, dry location.

REMOVING MINERAL BUILD-UP

To maintain maximum performance, you must descale your steamer occasionally. This is a standard maintenance needed for steam appliances to remove build-up caused by high mineral content in many municipal water supplies. Mineral residue inside the internal pipes and heater can cause intermittent steaming or, in some cases, no steaming at all. Depending on the water quality in different regions, PurSteam advises you to remove the mineral build-up after 7-15 days of use. The procedure below can be used to reduce mineral build-up. If you are able to use demineralized or distilled water, PurSteam recommends following this procedure once a month.

  1. Turn OFF the unit and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
  2. Allow the unit to cool (30 minutes for complete cooling).
  3. Remove the Water Tank from the unit. Unscrew the Valve Cap and drain all remaining water from the Water Tank.
  4. Open the Drain Plug and drain all remaining water from the Water Reservoir. Securely replace the Drain Plug.
  5. Mix a solution of 50% vinegar and 50% water. In most cases, 2 cups of this solution will be sufficient.
  6. Slowly pour the water-vinegar solution into the Hose Base.
  7. Allow the solution to sit for 40 minutes.
  8. Drain the solution out of the Water Reservoir by removing the Drain plug and allowing the liquid to drain into a sink or a tub.
  9. Drain the remaining solution out of the Hose Connector by tilting the unit over a sink or a tub, allowing the liquid to drain out.
  10. Pour clean water in the Hose Connector and drain. Repeat this step until the vinegar odor dissipates.
  11. Reassemble the unit and operate normally.
