1. Lighting
Your VAE is equipped with high-quality LED front lighting. The lights are operated via the onboard computer (see p17). Rear lighting is also provided. For the Eovolt Morning and Afternoon models, the rear light is operated by a button on the light itself. For the Eovolt Evening model, the rear light is connected to the onboard computer.
2. Bell
A bell is installed on your handlebars, allowing you to be heard up to 50 meters away.
3. Tires
Your tires are equipped with reflective strips for increased safety during daily commutes. The Eovolt Afternoon and Evening models feature puncture-resistant tires.
4. Brakes
Your Eovolt is equipped with hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm diameter. The right lever activates the rear brake, and the left lever activates the front brake. It is recommended to distribute braking force approximately 60/40 between the front and rear. Ensure you can achieve maximum braking power without the brake levers touching the handlebars. If they do, the brakes need adjustment.
Hydraulic disc brakes use a closed-loop fluid system. Be aware that dust or mud can impair braking performance. If you need to replace the brake pads, use identical organic pads.
WARNING: Braking distances are longer in the rain. Brake discs can be hot and sharp. Avoid direct contact with them.
DANGER - Hydraulic Fluid
5. Wheels and Motor
A slight noise from the motor upon startup is normal as it engages and assists pedaling. This noise may increase when the motor is under full load. After the first month of use, it is advisable to retighten your spokes to minimize the impact of the motor's propulsion on the rear wheel.
6. Suspension Fork
The Eovolt Afternoon model features a front suspension fork. A adjustment knob on the right side of the fork allows you to lock the suspension or adjust its responsiveness.
7. Battery
The lithium battery is the heart of your Eovolt. For convenience and aesthetics, the battery is located in the seatpost and is fully removable. Your bike is equipped with an anti-theft seatpost collar with keys to secure the battery.
2. Getting Started
1. Tool Kit
This toolkit is provided for online orders to assist with pedal installation and minor adjustments to suit your needs.
Tools included: Allen key (6mm, 5mm, 4mm), Screwdriver (Phillips and flat), Combination wrench (8/10mm, 13/15mm).
2. Attaching Pedals
Pedals are found in the accessory box. Before mounting, identify the 'R' marking on the right pedal and 'L' on the left pedal. Apply a small amount of grease to the pedal threads. The right pedal screws in clockwise, and the left pedal screws in counter-clockwise. It is recommended to tighten pedals to a torque of 30Nm.
3. Adjustments
3.1 Saddle and Handlebar Adjustments
For a safe ride, the seatpost must be inserted to the minimum depth or lower, as indicated on the pivot. Pull the lever and insert the seatpost to at least the minimum insertion line. Tighten the adjustment collar, then close the quick-release lever. Repeat for handlebar adjustment.
The saddle angle is adjusted using the screws that fix the saddle to the rail. Ensure these screws are tight and the saddle does not move forward or backward when you are seated. To adjust the saddle position forward or backward, loosen the screw located under the seat between the light and the battery. Once positioned, retighten the screw.
3.2 Rear Derailleur Adjustment
Your rear derailleur has been factory adjusted and checked by your dealer. If it appears misadjusted, contact your dealer. You can also follow these steps to fine-tune adjustments like cable tension or derailleur travel.
3.2.1 Tension Adjustment
With the chain on the smallest cog, you can tighten or loosen the plastic ring to adjust derailleur tension. With the bike on its stand, turn the crank and shift gears. If shifting is difficult between two cogs, adjust the cable tension directly on the speed that is sticking.
3.2.2 High and Low Limit Screw Adjustment
These adjustments prevent the chain from derailing. Use the 'H' screw for the low limit (smallest cog) and the 'L' screw for the high limit (largest cog). Adjust by screwing or unscrewing.
ATTENTION: If you cannot achieve satisfactory results after following these instructions, consult a bicycle specialist.
3.3 Brake Adjustments
Your braking system requires a break-in period for optimal performance. Perform gentle, progressive braking with both brakes. Braking will become more effective over time. When braking downhill, use short bursts rather than prolonged braking, which can overheat the pads and reduce effectiveness.
ATTENTION: Brake discs are sharp and get hot after use. Avoid touching them. Be cautious of pinching in the disc and pad area.
Your braking system must be free of oil or grease. Pad friction creates dust that can impair braking. Clean with appropriate products. Ensure your braking system is functioning correctly at all times. If a brake disc is cracked or deformed, stop using the bike and consult your dealer or a professional. If braking power decreases, check for leaks in the braking system.

2. Maintenance
2.1 Daily Checks
Before each use, check:
- Tire condition (pressure, wear, bulges, tears).
- Braking system function and cleanliness, and wear.
- Stem tightness.
- Seatpost collar tightness.
- Lighting system function and cleanliness.
- Frame closure locking mechanism.
- Wheel tightness.
2.2 Battery Maintenance
Proper maintenance maximizes battery lifespan. Batteries age over time, leading to reduced autonomy. Recharge your battery regularly (at least once a month), even if not in use, to prevent deep discharge, which can damage cells and impair performance.
When charging, plug the charger into the wall socket first, then connect it to the battery to minimize the risk of arcing.
Store the battery in a cool, dry place, away from significant temperature variations. For long-term storage without use, a charge level of 40% is ideal to limit self-discharge.
Never leave the battery on the VAE when not in use, as the controller consumes energy and discharges the battery. Frequent use requires more frequent charging for longer battery life.
Ensure the battery is clean and dry before charging. Clean with a dry cloth.
When unplugging the charger from the wall, pull the plug, not the cord. Always pull gently on the charging cord.
Do not pedal while the battery is charging on the bike, as the cord could get tangled and damage the port, posing an electrocution or fire risk.
Do not use damaged electrical parts; replace them with original components.
If the battery becomes abnormally hot during charging, unplug the charger from the mains, carefully move the charger/battery assembly, and disconnect the battery once charging is complete.
Charge the battery in a dry, indoor environment with an ambient temperature between 0°C and 45°C. Charge away from flammable materials.
Use only the original charger supplied with the bike.
Do not recharge the battery immediately after use.
Avoid contact between metallic objects and the battery contacts or plug. Prevent dirt and contact with cleaning chemicals.
Do not cover the charger. Do not charge in direct sunlight. The battery must always be charged in a ventilated area.
When unplugging, disconnect from the mains first, then from the battery.
Do not use the battery if it emits an unusual odor or becomes abnormally hot.
Do not disassemble the charger or battery (this will void the warranty).
Use the bike at a maximum temperature of 45°C.
Store the battery in a dry, ventilated place at a temperature between 0°C and 20°C. Storage above 30°C can prematurely age the battery. Prolonged storage at 10°C may significantly reduce battery performance.
Never expose the battery to frost.
Never fully discharge the battery, as this can damage it. Never store a discharged battery; recharge it immediately. This will harm performance and reduce lifespan.
When the bike is stopped, even for short breaks, or if the battery is depleted during a ride, always stop the motor (via the handlebar control panel) to prevent deep battery discharge and irreparable damage.
DISPOSAL - RECYCLING
Do not discard the battery or charger in nature or with household waste. Return them to your dealer or a specialized recycling collection point to help protect the environment.
1.3 Spare Parts and Accessories
If you need to replace electrical components, use original parts selected for their quality and compatibility. Replacement should be done by an authorized technician.
Ensure compatibility of accessories with an authorized technician before assembly.
1.4 Cleaning and Lubrication
Lubricate once a month and after each wash and dry. Never use a high-pressure washer, water jet, or detergent on electrical parts.
Remove the battery before cleaning with water. Dry the bike thoroughly before reattaching the battery. Clean the entire bike with soapy water using a sponge or low-pressure water. If necessary, clean connectors with contact cleaner.
Lubricate the entire transmission, chain, rear derailleur, pedals, and wheel axles.
Regularly check the condition of electrical cables and connectors. Check the battery charge level every 2 months if not in use.
