Operating Instructions: Network Operations
Commercial Use
Model Numbers: PT-VW330U/PT-VX400U, PT-VW330E/PT-VX400E, PT-VW330EA/PT-VX400EA
This manual explains the network operation of the projector. For information other than network operation, such as usage, inspection, and replacement of parts, refer to the "Operating Instructions - Projector Operations" manual.
Request Regarding Security
When using this product, potential security breaches include:
- Leakage of private information.
- Illegal operation by a malicious third-party.
- Harm or cessation of operation by a malicious third-party.
Implement sufficient security measures:
- Set strong passwords and limit user access.
- Change passwords periodically.
- Panasonic Corporation and its affiliates will never ask for your password directly.
- Always use a network with safety protection, such as a firewall.

WEB control (See page 11)
Possible operations via WebBrowser:
- Setting and adjusting the projector.
- Displaying projector status.
- Setting for message transmission.
PJLink (See page 23)
Compatible with PJLink Class 1. Operations from a computer using PJLink protocol:
- Setting the projector.
- Querying projector status.
Control commands
Refer to "Serial terminal" in "Technical Information" of the Projector Operation manual. Control projector from a computer using serial terminal control commands.
Note: When using [Web control], [PJLink], and [Command control], set [Network control] in the [Network] menu to [On] (See page 8).
Check your computer
Necessary environment for computers to be connected
First, check your computer for a wired LAN function. (Refer to "Glossary" on page 26).
Before connecting the projector, check the following settings:
Wired LAN
Check 1: LAN cable
- Is the cable properly connected?
- Use a LAN cable compatible with category 5 or above.
Check 2: Wired LAN settings
Computer with built-in wired LAN: Is your wired LAN switched on?
Computer without built-in wired LAN:
- Is your wired LAN adapter recognized?
- Is your wired LAN adapter switched on?
- Install the wired LAN adapter driver beforehand. Refer to the adapter's instructions for details.
Check 3: For WebBrowser
- WebBrowser is necessary for WEB control.
- Compatible OS: Windows XP/Vista/7, Mac OS X v10.4/v10.5/v10.6
- Compatible WebBrowser: Internet Explorer 7.0/8.0/9.0, Safari 4.0/5.0 (Mac OS)
Note: Do not touch the LAN terminal or metal part of the LAN cable to prevent static discharge.
NETWORK menu
To connect the projector and computer, change settings by displaying the menu.
Displaying the NETWORK menu
- Press the [MENU] button on the remote control. The main menu appears.
- Select [NETWORK] using the [Up Arrow] and [Down Arrow] buttons. The network menu appears.
- Press the [SELECT] button to select a sub-menu item. Unavailable items are grayed out.
Projector name
Change the projector name displayed on the network.
- Press [Up Arrow]/[Down Arrow] to select [Projector name], then press [SELECT].
- Use the [Arrow Buttons] to select characters and press [SELECT] to enter the projector name.
- Select [SET] with the [Arrow Buttons] and press [SELECT]. Select [CANCEL] to undo changes and press [SELECT].
- Select [YES] or [No] with the [Arrow Buttons] and press [SELECT].
Network setup
Make detailed wired LAN settings.
- Press [Up Arrow]/[Down Arrow] to select [Network setup], then press [SELECT]. The [Network setup] screen displays.
- Press [Up Arrow]/[Down Arrow] to select an item and change the setting:
- DHCP (Client function):
- On: If a DHCP server exists, the IP address is acquired automatically.
- Off: If no DHCP server exists, set [IP address], [Subnet mask], and [Default gateway].
- IP address: Enter IP address if DHCP server is not used.
- Subnet mask: Enter subnet mask if DHCP server is not used.
- Default gateway: Enter gateway address if DHCP server is not used.
- DNS: Sets the IP address of the DNS server.
- DHCP (Client function):
- Press [Left Arrow]/[Right Arrow] to select [Set], then press [SELECT] to save settings.
Notes: Ensure DHCP server is functioning before use. Consult network administrator for IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS details.

Network control
Set to control the projector from a network-connected computer.
- Press [Up Arrow]/[Down Arrow] to select [Network control].
- Press [SELECT] or [Right Arrow] to select [On] or [Off] using the [Up Arrow]/[Down Arrow] buttons.
Network status
Shows the LAN setting environment of the selected projector.
- Press [Up Arrow]/[Down Arrow] to select [Network status].
- Press [SELECT] or [Right Arrow] to display current projector status information.
AMX D.D.
Allows projector detection by AMX Device Discovery.
- Press [Up Arrow]/[Down Arrow] to select [AMX D.D.].
- Press [SELECT] or [Right Arrow] to select [On] or [Off] for AMX Device Discovery. Visit http://www.amx.com/ for details.
Network factory default
Resets network settings to factory defaults.
- Press [Up Arrow]/[Down Arrow] to select [Network factory default], then press [SELECT].
- A confirmation box appears; select [Yes] and press [SELECT]. Another confirmation box appears; select [Yes] and press [SELECT].
Connecting with Wired LAN
Computer operation
Connection is possible via wired LAN. Confirm network settings with your system administrator before making changes.
- Turn on the computer.
- Configure network settings per your system administrator. If projector settings match default (page 7), use these computer network settings:

Using Web Browser
Accessing from the Web browser
- Activate the Web browser on your computer.
- Enter the projector's IP address into the browser's URL field.
- Enter your "User name" and "Password". Default: user1 (user privileges) or admin1 (administrator privileges) for user name, and "panasonic" (lowercase) for password.
- Click [OK] to display the Projector status page.
Notes:
- Avoid using multiple Web browsers simultaneously for setting or control.
- Change the password first.
- Administrator privileges grant access to all functions. User privileges are limited to "Projector status", "Network status", "Basic control", "Advanced control", and "Change password".
- To control the projector via Web browser, set [Network control] in the network menu to [On].
Description of each item
The Projector Control Window includes:
- 1 Page selection tabs: Click to switch pages.
- 2 Monitor information button: Click to display projector status.
- 3 Projector control button: Click to display the projector control page.
- 4 Detailed set up button: Click to display advanced settings.
- 5 Change password button: Click to display the password change page.
- 6 Language switch button: Click to switch between English and Japanese.
Projector status page
Click [Status], then [Projector status] to display the Status information page. This page shows projector statuses:
- 1: Projector type
- 2: Firmware version (main unit)
- 3: Power source status
- 4: Video mode status
- 5: Serial number
- 6: Firmware version (network)
- 7: AV mute status
- 8: Volume status
- 9: Input switch status
- 10: Intake air temperature status
- 11: Exhaust air temperature status
- 12: Optics module temperature status
- 13: Lamp use time
- 14: Self-diagnostics information (See page 13)
- 15: Projector runtime
Error information page
If [Error (Detail)] appears on the [Projector status] screen, click the part to see error details. The projector may enter standby mode for protection depending on the error.
Status Indicators:
- [OK]: Normal operation
- [FAILED]: Occurrence of trouble
- [WARNING]: Abnormal condition
When [FAILED] has appeared:

FAN | Trouble with fan or drive circuit. Consult dealer. |
INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE | High intake air temperature (e.g., high ambient temp, blocked intake, clogged filter). |
EXHAUST AIR TEMPERATURE | High exhaust air temperature (e.g., blocked exhaust, incorrect high altitude mode). |
OPTICS MODULE TEMPERATURE | High optics module temperature. |
LAMP REMAIN TIME | Lamp runtime exceeded; time to replace lamp. |
LAMP STATUS | Lamp failed to light. Wait for cool-down, then power on. |
Network status page
Displays current network configuration information. Shows details of wired LAN configuration.
Basic control page
Navigate via [Projector control] > [Basic control].

Navigate via [Projector control] > [Advanced control].

User mode
A user can only change their password.

Note: For administrator account changes, both "Current user name" and "Current password" are required. Administrator and user accounts should be different.
Network config page
LAN settings
Make detailed wired LAN settings.
- Click [Detailed set up] in the menu.
- Click [Change] to modify LAN settings. Click [Back] to return.
- Complete detailed settings and click [Next]. Settings are the same as those in the projector's [Network] menu.
- Click [Submit] to register settings.
Note: Changing LAN settings while connected may disconnect the connection.
Ping test page
Check network connectivity to e-mail, POP, DNS servers, etc. Click [Detailed set up] > [Ping test].
Successful connection display: Shows ping results.
Failed connection display: Shows ping failure.
- Enter the IP address of the server to test.
- Click the button to conduct the test.
E-mail setup page
Send e-mail notifications for problems or lamp usage time. Up to two addresses can be set. Click [Detailed set up] > [E-mail set up].
- 1 Enable e-mail function.
- 2 Enter IP address or server name (SMTP). Set DNS server if using server name.
- 3 Enter projector's e-mail address (max 63 characters).
- 4 Enter location (e.g., installed projector location) for recipient identification (max 63 characters).
- 5 Set minimum interval for temperature warning mail (default 60 minutes).
- 6 Select intake sensor temperature for warning messages.
Conditions for sending e-mail:
- MAIL CONTENTS: Select [NORMAL] or [SIMPLE].
- ERROR: An error detected by self-diagnosis.
- LAMP RUNTIME: Remaining lamp service time reaches set value.
- INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE: Intake air temperature reaches set value.
Authentication set up page
Set POP/SMTP server for mail transmissions requiring authentication. Click [Detailed set up] > [Authentication set up].
- 1 Select authentication method (from Internet service provider).
- 2 Set if SMTP authentication is selected.
- 3 POP server name field.
- 4 POP/SMTP server user name field.
- 5 POP/SMTP server password field.
- 6 Enter SMTP server port (default "25").
- 7 Enter POP server port (default "110").
- 8 Update settings button.
Contents of mail sent
Mail content examples for established settings and error occurrences are shown.
Command port set up page
Set the port number for command control. Click [Detailed set up] > [Command port set up].
- Input the port number for command control.
- Click the update button.
PJLink protocol
Supports PJLink class 1 for projector setting and status queries from a computer.

PJLink security authorization
For PJLink with security authorization, use the password set for Web browser control (administrator or user privileges). For PJLink without security authorization, use the Web browser control password. Refer to the Japan Business Machine and Information System Industries Association website for PJLink specifications. Control commands via LAN
When WEB Control administrator rights password is set (Protect mode)
Connection method
- Obtain IP address and port number (default 1024) of the projector and request connection. IP address: Obtain from MAIN MENU > [Network] > [Network status]. Port No.: Acquire from WEB control "Detailed set up" > "Command port set up" page.
- Projector responds.
- Generate a 32-byte hash value using MD5 algorithm from "xxxxxx:yyyyy:zzzzzzzz" (Administrator username: "admin1", Password: "panasonic", 8-byte random number).
