LG Combination Wall Oven Installation Guide

Part 1: SAFETY

Before beginning installation, remove all tape and packing materials. Dispose of plastic bags and ensure children do not play with them. An installation manual can be downloaded from http://www.lg.com.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Read and follow all instructions to prevent fire, electric shock, injury, or damage. This guide does not cover all possible conditions. Contact a service agent or manufacturer for assistance.

The safety alert symbol ⚠️ alerts you to potential hazards that can cause serious harm or death. Safety messages are followed by “WARNING” or “CAUTION”.

• WARNING: Indicates hazards or unsafe practices that could cause serious bodily harm or death.
• CAUTION: Indicates hazards or unsafe practices that could cause bodily injury or property damage.

General Safety Precautions:

• Follow all instructions in this manual precisely. Failure to do so may result in fire, electrical shock, property damage, personal injury, or death.
• DO NOT put any weight on the oven door. Never allow anyone to climb, sit, stand, or hang on the oven door, as this could cause the oven to tip and result in injury.
• The electrical power must be shut off during electrical connections to prevent severe personal injury, death, or electrical shock.
• For new branch-circuit installations, mobile homes, recreational vehicles, or where local codes prohibit grounding through the neutral conductor, a 4-wire branch-circuit connection is required.
• Improper connection of aluminum house wiring to copper leads can create an electrical hazard or fire. Use only connectors designed for joining copper to aluminum and follow the manufacturer’s recommended procedure.
• Mounting screws must be used to prevent the oven from falling out of the cabinet, which could cause serious injury.

WARNING:

• Ensure cabinets and wall coverings can withstand oven temperatures (up to 194°F [90°C]) to prevent discoloration, delamination, or melting.
• DO NOT remove spacers on the side walls of the built-in oven, as they center the oven and prevent excessive heat buildup that could cause damage or fire.
• DO NOT block the oven air exhaust at the bottom, as this may cause cabinet damage and product malfunction.

CAUTION:

• This installation must be completed by a qualified installer or technician.
• Proper installation is the responsibility of the installer. Product failure due to improper installation is NOT covered under warranty.
• Installer: Retain these instructions for the local inspector’s reference and then leave them with the consumer.
• Consumer: Read and keep these instructions for future reference. Read the entire OWNER’S MANUAL before use.
• Do not use parts other than the provided components.

Part 2: INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

Materials Included:

• 6 Wood Screws (Black) 4X14 for Lower Mounting (4 needed, 2 extra)
• 6 Wood Screws (Silver) 4X14 for Upper Mounting (4 needed, 2 extra)
• 2 Screws 4X10 for bottom decorative trim
• Bottom decorative trim

Required Tools:

• Phillips Screwdriver
• Drill

Materials Needed:

• Junction Box
• Wire Nuts
• 36” (91 cm) of String
• 3/4” Conduit Connector

Cabinet Preparation:

Measure current cutout dimensions and compare them to the provided dimensions. Little or no cabinet work may be necessary.

1. INSTALLATION DRAWINGS (FOR 30” MICROWAVE COMBINATION WALL OVEN)

A diagram shows the various dimensions and measurements for installation. Key dimensions include:

• Overall Height (A): 43 13/16” (1112 mm)
• Overall Width (B): 29 3/4” (755.6 mm)
• Overall Depth (C): 23 3/8” (593.8 mm)
• Standard Installation Height (D): 43 3/16” (1097 mm)
• Cabinet Width (I): 30” (762 mm)
• Cutout Width (K): 28 1/2” Min. (723.9 mm) to 28 5/8” Max. (727 mm)
• Cutout Height (M): 43 7/16” Min. (1103 mm) to 43 1/2” Max. (1105 mm)
• Cutout Depth (N): 23 1/2” (596.9 mm)
• Conduit opening (a) location from floor of cutout (P): 39 27/32” (1012 mm)
• Conduit opening (a) distance from side of cabinet (Q): 5” (127 mm)

2. PREPARATION FOR MOVING THE OVEN

Remove all packing material, tape, and oven racks from the oven. Door removal is optional but can be convenient.

To remove the door:

1. Fully open the door.
2. Pull the hinge locks up towards the door’s frame to the unlocked position.
3. Firmly grasp both sides of the door at the top.
4. Close the door to the removal position (approximately 5 degrees).
5. Lift the door up and out until the hinge arm is clear of the slot.

Part 3: ELECTRICAL CONNECTION REQUIREMENTS

Ensure dedicated circuit protection is prepared and the oven is properly grounded.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

Prepare the electrical connection:

1. Turn off the circuit breaker or remove fuses for the oven branch circuit.
2. Position the oven in front of the cabinet opening. Connect the flexible conduit to the electrical junction box. Position the conduit to lie on top of the oven in a natural loop when installed.
3. If local codes permit grounding the frame conductor to the neutral (white) wire, follow the 3-wire circuit connection instructions.
4. If used in mobile homes, new construction, recreational vehicles, or if local codes prohibit grounding the frame conductor to the neutral (white) wire, follow the 4-wire circuit connection instructions.

NOTE TO ELECTRICIAN: The power leads are UL, CSA recognized for connection to larger gauge household wiring. The insulation is rated for higher temperatures than household wiring. Conductor current capacity depends on wire gauge and insulation temperature rating.

3-Wire Circuit Connection:

1. Connect the oven ground (green) wire and neutral (white) wire to the branch circuit neutral (white or gray) wire using a wire nut.
2. Connect the oven red wire to the branch circuit red (L2) wire according to local codes, using a wire nut.
3. Connect the oven black wire to the branch circuit black (L1) wire according to local codes, using a wire nut. (See WARNING for aluminum conductors).
4. Install the junction box cover.

4-Wire Circuit Connection:

1. Separate the oven ground and white wires if necessary.
2. Connect the oven ground (green) wire to the branch circuit ground (green) wire according to local codes, using a wire nut. (See WARNING for aluminum conductors).
3. Connect the oven white wire to the branch circuit neutral (white or gray) wire according to local codes, using a wire nut.
4. Connect the oven red wire to the branch circuit red (L2) wire according to local codes, using a wire nut.
5. Connect the oven black wire to the branch circuit black (L1) wire according to local codes, using a wire nut. (See WARNING for aluminum conductors).
6. Install the junction box cover.

Part 4: CABINET INSTALLATION

Install the oven into the cabinet:

1. Slide the oven into the opening.
   • Loop (do not tie) a 36” (91 cm) string around the conduit before sliding the oven in. Lay the string over the oven top to prevent the conduit from falling behind.
   • Lift the oven into the cabinet cutout using the oven opening as a grip. Push carefully against the oven front frame, not the outer edges.
   • As you slide the oven back, pull the string so the conduit lies on top of the oven in a natural loop.
   • Once the conduit is clear, slide the oven 3/4 of the way back. Remove the string by pulling one end of the loop.
2. Secure the oven.
   • Using the mounting holes on the oven side trim as a guide, drill pilot holes for the provided screws. Use a minimum of 4 screws (one on each side in both upper and lower ovens) for securing the Combi Oven.
   • Secure the oven to the cabinet with the provided screws. If the cabinet is particle board, use 3/4” particle board screws available at hardware stores.
3. Reinstall the oven door.

2. ASSEMBLING THE BOTTOM DECORATIVE TRIM

After installing the oven, attach the bottom decorative trim (a) with 2 screws (b, 4X10).

Part 5: OPERATION CHECKLIST

CHECKING OPERATION

Each function has been factory checked. Verify operation once more by referring to the Owner’s Manual.

Basic Check:

1. Turn on the power supply. An initial signal sound is heard, and the Clock segment appears on the display.
2. Common Functions:
   • Broil Mode: Set the oven to broil. The upper element should turn red. Partially open the door and feel for heat. Press CLEAR/OFF.
   • Convection Bake Mode: Set the oven to 350°F / 177°C for convection baking. The internal fan should activate with the door closed. Press CLEAR/OFF.
   • Oven Light: Turn the oven light on and off to check its function.
3. Upper Oven (Microwave Function): Place a glass bowl with water in the upper oven. Turn on the microwave for 1 minute. The water should be hot. Press CLEAR/OFF.
4. Lower Oven:
   • Bake Mode: Set the oven to bake at 350°F / 177°C. The temperature display should increase after a few minutes. Press CLEAR/OFF.
   • Convection Mode: Set the oven to 350°F / 177°C for convection mode. The back element should light up, and the internal fan should activate with the door closed.

1. Turn off the circuit breaker or remove fuses for the oven branch circuit.
2. With the oven positioned in front of the cabinet opening, connect the flexible conduit to the electrical junction box as shown. Position the conduit to lie on top of the oven in a natural loop when installed.

• If local codes permit connecting the frame grounding conductor to the neutral (white) wire, follow the 3-wire circuit connection instructions.
• If used in mobile homes, new construction, recreational vehicles, or if local codes do not permit connecting the frame grounding conductor to the neutral (white) wire, follow the 4-wire circuit connection instructions.

NOTE TO ELECTRICIAN: The power leads supplied with the appliance are UL, CSA recognized for connection to larger gauge household wiring. The insulation of these leads is rated at temperatures much higher than the temperature rating of household wiring. The current carrying capacity of the conductor is governed by the wire gauge and the temperature rating of the insulation around the wire.

3-Wire Circuit Connection:

1. Connect the oven ground (green) wire and neutral (white) wire to the branch circuit neutral (white or gray) wire, using a wire nut.
2. Connect the oven red wire to the branch circuit red (L2) wire in accordance with local codes, using a wire nut.
3. Connect the oven black wire to the branch circuit black (L1) wire in accordance with local codes, using a wire nut. (See WARNING for aluminum conductors).
4. Install the junction box cover.

4-Wire Circuit Connection:

1. Separate the oven ground and white wires if necessary.
2. Connect the oven ground (green) wire to the branch circuit ground (green) wire in accordance with local codes, using a wire nut. (See WARNING for aluminum conductors).
3. Connect the oven white wire to the branch circuit neutral (white or gray) wire in accordance with local codes, using a wire nut.
4. Connect the oven red wire to the branch circuit red (L2) wire in accordance with local codes, using a wire nut.
5. Connect the oven black wire to the branch circuit black (L1) wire in accordance with local codes, using a wire nut. (See WARNING for aluminum conductors).
6. Install the junction box cover.

2. COLOCACIÓN DEL REBORDE DECORATIVO INFERIOR

After installing the oven in the cabinet, assemble the bottom decorative trim (a) with 2 screws (b, 4X10).
