Door Construction Diagram
The door construction features a wood veneer, HPDL, or MDO face. Beneath this are crossbands made of high-density fiberboard (HDF). The core is particleboard (ANSI A208.1, grade LD-2), comprising 70% of the door's construction weight and utilizing pre-consumer recycled materials. Vertical edges (stiles) and horizontal edges (top & bottom rails) are constructed from Structural Composite Lumber (SCL) or Fire Composite, as required, with sealed edges for the rails.
Additional Door Features
- Pairs & Sets: Pair match standard, set match available.
- Doors/Transoms: Continuous match standard, End or no match available.
- Cutouts: Minimum 5" distance from door edge. Minimum distance between lite and lock cutouts is 3-5/16". For 45-minute rated doors, the distance from the edge of the door to lite and lock cutouts is 5-1/2".
- Clearances: 1/8" top clearance, 1/8" lock and hinge stiles. See NFPA-80 6.3.1.7. Maximum bottom clearance is 3/4" (from the bottom of the door to the top of the finished floor). See NFPA-80 4.8.4.
- Security Rating: Class 40, ASTM 476 (highest rating possible).
- Labeling: Positive pressure, Category A 20-minute Intertek/Warnock Hersey fire labels per NFPA 80 4.2. Fire-rated doors must use approved lite frames. UL 10C compliant.
- Packaging: Doors are individually poly-bagged upon request for protection and marked as per tag openings on shop drawings.
- Accessories: Door bottoms, sweeps, thresholds, gasketing, lite kits, and glass may be supplied by VT or other manufacturers.
