Oil-Free Performance Advantage

Oil-Free, magnetic bearing compressor technology eliminates complex oil and refrigerant lubrication management systems, resulting in a simplified chiller design, increased reliability, and reduced maintenance.

  • Oil-free, magnetic bearings and integrated variable speed drive deliver industry-leading efficiency with no performance degradation over the life of the compressor.
  • Permanent magnet synchronous motor provides high efficiency and enables compact design.
  • Two-stage compression design provides flexibility for water-cooled and air-cooled chiller applications.

Zero Performance Degradation

Danfoss Turbocor® compressors have no oil in the system, meaning no performance degradation due to oil contamination. Combined with contact-free operation enabled by magnetic bearings, performance remains consistent over the compressor's life.

Performance Degradation Over Time

Oiled Compressors: Show a significant loss in efficiency over time (e.g., 20% loss in efficiency after 10 years).

Oil-Free Compressors: Show no change in efficiency over time.

Reduced Maintenance

Danfoss Turbocor® TTS Series Compressors

Models: TTS300, TTS350, TTS400, TTS700

Efficient: Available in four models (60-200 tons / 200-700 kW), offering industry-leading efficiency with integrated part load values (IPLV) up to 40% better than comparable screw chillers.

Flexible: Capable of standard water-cooled and low lift operation. TTS300/TTS350 support high lift for air-cooled/heat recovery. TTS300 also handles medium evaporator temperatures (0 to -10 °C / 32 to 14 °F).

Quiet: Low sound levels (as low as 70.0 dBA at 1.5m / 5ft), up to 8 dBA lower than typical screw compressors, reducing noise-related complaints and sound treatment costs.

Environmentally Friendly: Available with HFC-134a (Zero Ozone Depletion Potential) and R513A (low GWP, non-flammable) refrigerants.

Efficient: Available in four models (40-150 tons / 140-540 kW), offering industry-leading efficiency with IPLV up to 40% better than comparable screw chillers.

Flexible: Capable of standard water-cooled and low lift operation. TGS230/TGS310 support high lift for air-cooled/heat recovery. TGS230 also handles medium evaporator temperatures (0 to -10 °C / 32 to 14 °F).

Danfoss Turbocor® TGS490 Compressor

Efficient: 85-140 tons / 300-490 kW capacity, suitable for air or water-cooled chillers. IPLV up to 50% better than comparable screw chillers.

Environmentally Friendly: First oil-free, magnetic bearing centrifugal compressor compatible with ultra-low GWP HFO-1234ze or R-515B (GWP 299, ASHRAE A1).

Lifecycle Cost Advantage: Up to 40% better part load efficiency vs. fixed speed screw compressors, no mechanical wear, and zero performance degradation. Can meet 400-ton air-cooled chiller capacity with three compressors.

Danfoss Turbocor® TTH and TGH Series Compressors

Models: TTH375, TGH285

Wide Operating Map: Expand oil-free benefits to high lift applications (pressure ratios up to 6.2), including air-cooled chillers in hot climates, hot water heat pumps, and low-temperature process applications. Can operate up to 156°F / 69°C saturated discharge temperature.

Efficient: TTH375 (107 tons / 376 kW), TGH285 (82 tons / 288 kW). Industry-leading efficiency with IPLV up to 40% better than comparable screw chillers.

Quiet: Low sound levels (as low as 70.0 dBA at 1.5m / 5ft), approximately 8 dBA lower than typical screw compressors.

Environmentally Friendly: TTH uses R134a or R513A. TGH uses HFO-1234ze (GWP < 1) or R515B (ASHRAE A1).

Environmental Friendliness and Performance

Danfoss promotes the use of low GWP refrigerants to combat global warming. Turbocor® compressors are available with:

  • R134a: No flame propagation, GWP = 1300
  • R513A: No flame propagation, GWP = 573
  • R515B: No flame propagation, GWP = 299
  • HFO1234ze: Lower flammability, GWP < 1
