Getting to Know Your 2005 Bonneville

Instrument Panel

The instrument panel contains various controls and indicators for operating your vehicle.

Instrument Panel Cluster

Your vehicle's instrument panel cluster displays critical information about your vehicle's operation.

IMPORTANT: The instrument panel cluster is designed to inform you about many important aspects of your vehicle's operation. It is important to read your Owner Manual and become familiar with the information conveyed by the lights, gauges, and indicators, as well as what actions to take to ensure safety and prevent damage.

Memory Driver's Seat and Outside Rearview Mirrors (if equipped)

Your vehicle may feature a two-driver memory function to program and recall settings for the driver's seat and outside mirror positions. The Driver Information Center (DIC) can also be programmed for additional personalization.

Remote Keyless Entry/Ignition Key Recall

If programmed via the DIC, the unlock button on the Remote Keyless Entry transmitter can recall memory seat and/or DIC personalization settings. The numbers 1 or 2 on the back of the transmitter correspond to the memory control numbers on the driver's door panel.

Set and Recall Driver's Seat Exit Position

  1. Identify the driver number (1 or 2) by pressing the unlock button ? on the Remote Keyless Entry transmitter or noting the number on the driver door panel corresponding to your transmitter.
  2. Adjust the driver's seat to the desired exit position.
  3. Press and hold the EXIT ? button on the driver door panel until a beep confirms the exit position is stored.
  4. For a second driver, identify Driver 2 and repeat the procedure.
  5. To recall the exit position, press the EXIT ? button on the driver door panel when the vehicle's gear selector is in Park (?️).

Seat recall movement can be stopped at any time by pressing a power seat control.

Remote Keyless Entry and Content Theft-Deterrent Systems

On equipped vehicles, use your Remote Keyless Entry transmitter for the following functions:

The exterior lamps may flash once and the horn may chirp if the Driver Information Center personalization feature is programmed for security feedback.

The Content Theft-Deterrent System arms only if you use the key fob or a power lock switch. It will not arm if you lock the door with a key or manual lock. To disarm, press the Unlock button ? on the key fob or unlock any door with the key.

The key fob transmitter's range is 3 to 30 feet. If it doesn't work or range is reduced, check:

Driver 1 and 2 Memory Settings

The number on the back of the transmitter (1 or 2) corresponds to the memory buttons on the driver's door panel. Unlocking the vehicle with the transmitter recalls personalized settings for that specific driver (if enabled in the DIC).

Driver Information Center (DIC) (if equipped)

On equipped vehicles, the DIC buttons are located on the control panel to the right of the instrument cluster.

Resetting Vehicle Data

To reset vehicle data, press the DIC MODE button until VEHICLE DATA is displayed. Then, press SELECT repeatedly until the desired data appears.

Personalizing Vehicle Features

To program personalization features using the DIC buttons (if equipped):

  1. Identify yourself as Driver 1 or 2 by pressing the memory button on the driver door panel or the unlock button ? on your Remote Keyless Entry transmitter.
  2. Turn the ignition to ON ? and keep the gear selector in Park (?️).
  3. Press the MODE button to reach the personalization programming display.
  4. Press SELECT to enter the personalization programming mode.
  5. Choose DRIVER ID 1 or 2 by pressing RESET. When the desired ID is displayed, press SELECT to choose it and move to the next feature.

Each programmable feature will appear on the display. After a selection, the DIC moves to the next feature.

Security Feedback

On equipped vehicles, DIC selections customize transmitter-activated feedback when locking/unlocking your vehicle:

Enter personalization programming mode and stop at the KEYLESS FEEDBACK menu item.

Programmable Automatic Door Locks

Your vehicle's power door locks can be programmed to your preferences using the DIC (if equipped).

Enter personalization programming mode (as described in "Personalizing Vehicle Features") and choose from the following locking/unlocking options:

Choose the desired mode by pressing RESET until it is displayed, then press SELECT to store.

Programming Locks with the Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter

  1. Keep doors closed, shift lever in Park (?️), and ignition key in the ON position.
  2. Press and hold the driver's door power lock switch in the LOCK position through Step 4.
  3. Press the lock button ? on the Remote Keyless Entry transmitter (automatic locks remain in current mode).
  4. Press the lock button ? on the transmitter again. The door locks will cycle up and down to indicate the current mode (e.g., three cycles for Mode 3; Mode 0 has no feedback).
  5. Release the power door lock switch when the desired mode is reached. The automatic locks will retain the selected mode.

This procedure programs only the transmitter used. Repeat for other transmitters and drivers.

Systems Monitor Buttons (if equipped)

On equipped vehicles, the Systems Monitor buttons are located on the control panel to the right of the instrument cluster.

To reset with the Systems Monitor:

Calibration continues during the first 45 to 90 minutes of driving.

Radio Controls

Setting Stations

Six numbered pushbuttons allow programming up to 30 stations (six each for AM, FM1, FM2, XM1, XM2). XM Satellite Radio requires a subscription.

Radio Data System (RDS)

Your RDS-equipped radio can:

RDS features work on FM stations broadcasting RDS information. RDS stations display their name instead of frequency. They often provide time and Program Type (PTY).

Trunk-Mounted CD Changer (if equipped)

The optional CD changer plays up to 12 CDs.

On equipped vehicles, control some radio functions using steering wheel buttons. Consult your Owner Manual.

Cruise Control

Use Cruise Control for steady driving on relatively straight, uncrowded roads. Controls are on the Turn Signal/Multifunction Lever on the left side of the steering column.

To set the system:

The system maintains a steady speed of 25 mph (40 km/h) or faster without accelerator input.

To turn off Cruise Control, apply brakes or move the Cruise Control switch to OFF.

Accessory Power Outlet and Cigarette Lighter

Your vehicle is equipped with an accessory power outlet that can power various accessories.

If your vehicle has a front or floor console, the outlet is located at the rear of the unit. To use, remove the protective cap and plug in the accessory. Replace the cap when not in use.

Cigarette Lighter: Located next to the front storage tray. It operates at all times, regardless of ignition position. ?
