Award Announcement
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Jan. 8, 2010 – Hyundai's Genesis Coupe has been recognized as a Best New Car on About.com Cars' annual Best New Cars List for 2010. This marks the second consecutive year Hyundai has earned a spot on this esteemed list, following the Genesis sedan's recognition in 2009.
Aaron Gold, a journalist for About.com Cars, commented on the Genesis Coupe's appeal, stating, "If you're looking at cars like the Nissan 370Z, Ford Mustang, Chevy Cobalt SS or Volkswagen GTI, you'll definitely want to test drive the Genesis Coupe. It's not better, it's not worse -- it's just different. Although, in the case of the Genesis coupe, differentisbetter."
Gold further elaborated on the vehicle's attributes, noting, "There's nothing quite like the Genesis Coupe. It features a choice of 200+ hp turbo four-cylinder, like a Volkswagen GTI, or 300+ hp V6, like a Chevy Camaro; optional track-tuned suspension, like a Cobalt SS; high-end amenities, like an Infiniti G37; and a $23k-to-$32k price range, like a Honda Accord Coupe. It uses rear-wheel-drive, like a Nissan 370Z, and runs on cheap 87-octane gas, like a Honda Fit."
Derek Joyce, Genesis Coupe product manager at Hyundai Motor America, expressed enthusiasm for the award: "Genesis Coupe is the most exciting performance car ever developed by Hyundai and offers perfect rear-wheel drive vehicle dynamics at an unbeatable value. We are thrilled to receive this recognition from About.com Cars, as it further communicates Hyundai's commitment to producing vehicles that provide both high quality and exciting performance, offerings we look to further enhance heading into 2010."
