Safety Precautions
Please read the instructions and safety precautions before operating the appliance.
Avoid risks of fatal electric shock and fire
- Only plug the appliance into suitable, earthed mains connections. Ensure voltage matches rating plate. Incorrect connection voids warranty.
- Use an earthed extension lead with a minimum 1.5 mm² conductor cross-section if required.
- Keep the cable away from sharp edges, heat, and moisture.
- Do not operate if the cable is damaged; return to Nespresso Club for repair.
- Place the appliance on a stable, flat surface away from hot surfaces like radiators, burners, or flames.
- Disconnect from mains when not in use for long periods.
- Disconnect by pulling the plug, not the cable. Never touch the cable with wet hands.
- Never immerse the appliance or parts in water or put in a dishwasher.
- Do not open the appliance; hazardous voltage inside.
- Do not put anything into openings to prevent fire or electrical shock.
Avoid possible harm when operating the appliance
- Product is for domestic use only. Commercial or inappropriate use voids warranty.
- Intended for preparing beverages as per instructions. Suitable for household and similar applications (staff kitchens, offices, hotels, B&Bs).
- Do not use for unintended purposes.
- Remove plug for long periods of non-use (holidays).
- Do not use a damaged or malfunctioning appliance. Return for inspection/repair.
- Not intended for use by persons with reduced physical/mental capabilities or lack of experience, unless supervised or instructed by a responsible person. Supervise children to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
- Always close the lever during operation; lifting it can cause scalding. Do not put fingers in the capsule compartment or shaft.
- Do not put fingers under the coffee outlet to avoid burns.
- Never use a damaged or deformed capsule; water could flow around it.
- Do not use without the drip tray and drip grid.
- Machine operates only with Nespresso capsules.
Disposal and Environmental Protection
- Appliance contains valuable, recyclable materials. Separate waste materials for recycling. Take to a collection point.
- Appliance and packaging are made of recyclable materials.
Overview
Machine Components:
- Tapa (Cup cover): Covers the cup area.
- Almacenamiento de tazas / bandeja calentadora de tazas (Cup storage/warming plate): For storing or warming cups (version dependent).
- Depósito de agua (Water tank): Holds water for coffee preparation.
Button Indicators:
- Máquina encendida (Machine on): Light is lit.
- Máquina apagada (Machine off): Light is unlit.
- Permanece encendida (Steady light): Indicates the machine is ready.
- Parpadea (Blinking light): Indicates heating up or a specific mode.
Key Parts:
- Palanca (Lever): Used to open/close for capsule insertion.
- Botón café (taza pequeña) (Coffee button - small cup): For espresso.
- Botón café (taza grande) (Coffee button - large cup): For lungo.
- Botón encendido/apagado (ON/OFF button): Powers the machine on/off.
- Salida de café (Coffee outlet): Where coffee dispenses.
- Contenedor Interno para 12-14 cápsulas (Capsule container): Collects used capsules.
- Bandeja de recuperación (Drip tray): Catches drips.
- Rejilla de goteo (Drip grid): Part of the drip tray assembly.
Power Save Mode Settings
The machine enters power save mode automatically after a period of inactivity.
- To set power save mode:
- Turn the machine on.
- Press and hold the small cup button for 3 seconds while heating up. The small cup button will blink to indicate setting mode.
- Press the small cup button again to cycle through settings:
- 1 blink: Power save mode after 30 minutes (initial setting).
- 2 blinks: Power save mode after 60 minutes.
- 3 blinks: Power save mode OFF.
In power save mode: Buttons fade in/out every 5 seconds. To reactivate, press any button, then press again to select coffee.
First Use or Starting After a Period of Non-Use
- Fill the water tank with potable water.
- Plug the machine into mains.
- Switch the machine on.
- Lower the drip grid.
Note: While heating up, you can pre-select your coffee. Once the machine is ready, coffee will begin to flow automatically.
Indicator Lights: Blinking light means heating up; Steady light means ready.
Every Day Use and Before the First Coffee
- Fill the water tank with potable water.
- Switch the machine on.
- Indicator Lights: Blinking light means heating up; Steady light means ready.
Preparation
Making Coffee:
- Select Espresso (small cup) or Lungo (large cup). Flow speed depends on coffee variety.
- Place a cup under the coffee outlet.
- Lift the lever to eject the capsule (it drops into the capsule container).
- Close the lever.
Preheating Cups: Place cups on the warming plate or rinse with hot water (according to model).
Rinsing the machine: When ready, press the coffee button 6 times to rinse. Repeat five times.
If no water: Open the lever and hold it back for 3 seconds.
Programming the Water Volume
To reset water volumes to factory settings (small cup 40 ml, large cup 110 ml):
- Switch the machine off.
- Press and hold the large cup button.
- Switch the machine on while keeping the large cup button pressed until the ON button flashes. This resets both factory settings.
To set custom water volumes:
- Insert a capsule.
- Press and hold the large or small cup button.
- Release the button at the desired volume level.
Cleaning
Notice: Do not use any strong cleaning agent or solvent cleaner. Do not put in dishwasher.
Use a damp cloth and mild cleaning agent.
Descaling
Caution: Read descaling package safety precautions carefully. The descaling solution can be harmful. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and surfaces.
Notice: Never use vinegar to descale as it can damage your machine. Descaling kit available at the Nespresso Club.
The table below indicates descaling frequency based on water hardness for optimal performance:

Descaling Procedure:
- Place a container (minimum 0.6 liters) under the coffee outlet.
- Switch the machine on.
- Indicator Lights: Blinking light means heating up; Steady light means ready.
- Remove the capsule.
- Empty the drip tray and capsule container.
- Fill the water tank with 0.5 liters of water and add the Nespresso descaling liquid.
- Press both coffee buttons simultaneously for three seconds. They will start blinking.
- Press the large cup button. Let the descaling solution run through.
- Refill the water tank with the used descaling solution collected in the container and repeat step 8.
- Empty and rinse the water tank. Fill it with potable water.
- When ready, press the coffee button to rinse.
- To exit descaling mode, press both buttons simultaneously for one second. The machine is now ready for use.
Emptying System Before a Period of Non-Use and for Frost Protection
- Switch the machine off.
- Remove the water tank. Place a container (min 0.6 liters) under the coffee outlet.
- Press and hold the small cup button, then switch the machine on.
Every Day Use and After the Last Coffee
- Switch the machine off.
- Empty the capsule container, drip tray, and water tank.
- Close the drip grid.
- The ON/OFF button and the light behind the capsule container blink simultaneously.
- Switch OFF. The appliance blocks for 10 minutes. A little water may drip.
Troubleshooting
Issue | Solution |

Machine no lighting. | Check mains: plug, voltage, fuse. |
No coffee, no water. | Check water tank; if empty, fill with potable water. Descale if necessary. |
Coffee not hot enough. | Preheat cups. Descale the machine if necessary. |
Lever cannot be closed completely. | Empty capsule container / Check that no capsule is blocked inside the capsule container. |
Irregular interval flashing. | Call the Nespresso Club. |
No coffee, just water runs out (despite inserted capsule). | In case of problems, call the Nespresso Club. |
