Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
The Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system is automatically activated upon each engine start and is integrated with specific Terrain Response programs. It enhances vehicle stability and traction.
Understanding DSC
Your vehicle features increased ground clearance and a higher center of gravity compared to standard passenger cars, enabling enhanced off-road capabilities. This elevated stance also provides a better view of the road, allowing drivers to anticipate and avoid challenging situations.
It is important to note that this vehicle is not designed for cornering at the speeds achievable by low-slung sports cars. Similarly, it is not intended for off-road driving. Drivers should avoid sharp turns and abrupt maneuvers whenever possible. As with any vehicle in its class, driver errors can lead to loss of control or rollovers.
DSC Indicator Light
The DSC indicator light on the instrument panel briefly illuminates when the ignition is switched on. A rapidly flashing indicator light during driving signifies that the DSC system is actively engaged. A continuously illuminated DSC indicator, accompanied by a relevant warning message, indicates a system fault. In such cases, the vehicle can still be driven, but without DSC assistance. It is recommended to seek assistance from qualified specialists as soon as possible.
Disabling DSC
Caution: Improperly disabling the DSC system can compromise vehicle safety. In most driving scenarios, especially on roads, it is recommended to keep DSC active.
However, in certain conditions, disabling DSC may improve traction. These conditions include:
- Rocking the vehicle to free it from a ditch or deep rut.
- Driving through deep snow or loose ground.
- Driving through deep sand or mud.
To disable the DSC system, press and hold the DSC OFF button on the instrument panel. The DSC OFF indicator light will remain continuously illuminated. Disabling DSC also reduces the intervention of the electronic traction control system, potentially allowing for increased wheel spin.
Note: The image shows the location of the DSC OFF button and related dashboard indicators.
Re-enabling DSC
DSC can be re-enabled through the following methods:
- Press and hold the DSC OFF button.
- Start the engine.
- Select a new Terrain Response program.
Electronic Traction Control (ETC)
The ETC system works in conjunction with the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) to manage wheel slip. If a wheel loses traction, the ETC system applies the brakes to that wheel until traction is restored. The DSC indicator light will flash to inform the driver that ETC is active.
DSC System Fault
If a fault is detected in the DSC system, the DSC indicator light will remain illuminated continuously until the DSC system is deactivated. The vehicle can continue to be driven, but it is advisable to seek qualified assistance promptly.
