Battery Charger Wiring

Ensure Anderson connector connections are tight and secure. Refer to renogy.com for recommended wire gauge and length.

REGO Battery Kit Output Wiring

  1. STEP-2.1: Align the Anderson PP75 connectors of the Battery Adapter Cable (output) to the correct orientation and polarity for the Output terminal.
  2. STEP-2.2: Secure the Anderson PP75 connectors by sliding the side grooves.
  3. STEP-2.3: Insert the Anderson PP75 connectors into the Output terminal.

Diagrams illustrate connecting the Anderson PP75 connectors to the charger's output terminals, ensuring correct alignment and securing them.

Normal Battery Kit Output Wiring

  1. STEP-3.2: Attach the ring terminal of the negative Battery Adapter Cable (output) to the negative battery bolt and tighten with a wrench.
  2. STEP-3.3: For safety, use an 80A battery fuse. Connect the positive Battery Adapter Cable (output) to one end of the fuse, and the other end to the positive battery bolt.
  3. STEP-3.4: Attach the ring terminal of the positive Battery Adapter Cable (output) to the positive battery bolt and tighten with a wrench.

Diagrams show connecting the negative output cable to the negative battery terminal and the positive output cable (via an 80A fuse) to the positive battery terminal.

Battery Indicator: After correct wiring and powering on the battery, the Battery indicator should light up green. If not, consult the user manual for troubleshooting.

Diagram shows the charger with "Battery" and "Fault" indicators. The "Battery" indicator is shown lit green.

Service Battery Wiring

Important: Read the service battery manual. Identify polarity correctly to avoid damage. Ensure connectors are fully seated and ring terminals are secure.

Battery Scenario A: REGO Battery Kit

If connecting to a System Combiner Box:

  • Install a 160A NH fuse in the NH fuse disconnect switch if connecting via Anderson connectors.
  • Refer to the REGO 12V 60A DC-DC Battery Charger user manual at renogy.com for detailed instructions when using the Anderson PP75 to Ring Terminal Adapter Cable with the System Combiner Box.

Diagram shows connecting the Anderson 120 connector of the output Battery Adapter Cable to the System Combiner Box.

If using positive/negative busbars with a normal service battery, refer to the user manual at renogy.com.

Input Wiring

The input terminal can connect directly to a vehicle's starting battery or DC generator. Refer to the user manual at renogy.com for DC generator wiring.

  • Check the vehicle's manual for generator type.
  • Starting Voltage: Smart generator > 12.5V; Traditional generator > 13.5V.
  • Identify polarity correctly.
  • Ensure ring terminals are securely connected.

Connecting to Starting Battery/DC Generator

  1. STEP-4.1: Attach the ring terminal of the negative Battery Adapter Cable (input) to the negative bolt of the starting battery.
  2. STEP-4.3: For safety, use an 80A battery fuse. Connect the positive Battery Adapter Cable (input) to one end of the fuse, and the other end to the positive bolt of the starting battery.
  3. STEP-4.4: Attach the ring terminal of the positive Battery Adapter Cable (input) to the positive bolt of the starting battery and tighten with a wrench.

Diagrams show connecting the negative input cable to the negative battery terminal. Another diagram shows connecting the positive input cable via an 80A fuse to the positive battery terminal.

IGN Signal Wire: If the DC generator is a smart generator, connect the IGN Signal Wire connector to the IGN signal wire port on the charger, and the other end to the smart generator's ignition signal port.

Diagram shows connecting the IGN Signal Wire to the charger's IGN port and then to a generator's ignition signal.

Operation Indicator: After waiting for 15 seconds, the Battery indicator should flash green, indicating the charger is working. If it doesn't light up, consult the user manual.

Diagram shows the charger with "Battery" and "Fault" indicators. The "Battery" indicator is shown flashing green.

Mounting

Ensure the battery charger is installed firmly to prevent it from falling off. Place the charger against a flat surface and secure it with the included screws.

Diagram shows the charger being mounted on a wall with screws.

Temperature Sensor

The temperature sensor detects battery temperature for charging voltage calibration, ensuring normal charging within the operating range of -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F).

  • Do not use the temperature sensor with LiFePO4 (LFP) batteries that have a Battery Management System (BMS).
  • Refer to the user manual at renogy.com for more details.

Installation:

  1. STEP-6.1: Insert the temperature sensor terminal block into the BTS port of the battery charger.
  2. STEP-6.2: Adhere the sensor to the top or side of the battery with insulation tape.

Diagrams show inserting the sensor into the BTS port and then attaching the sensor to the side of a battery with tape.

Voltage Sensor (Optional)

The Battery Voltage Sensor provides accurate battery voltage readings to the charger for precise charging stage adjustment, extending battery life.

  • Identify polarity correctly; reverse polarity contact can damage the unit.
  • The voltage sensor ring terminal is M8 (approx. 5/16"). Use a gasket if the battery bolt is small to prevent it from falling off.

Installation:

  1. STEP-7.1: Insert the voltage sensor terminal block into the BVS port of the battery charger.
  2. STEP-7.2: Connect the voltage sensor ring terminal to the positive/negative pole of the battery system.

Diagrams show inserting the sensor into the BVS port and then connecting the sensor's ring terminal to the positive terminal of a REGO battery and a normal battery.

LED Indicators

Battery Status Indicator
