Installation
Placing the Unit: Ensure your amplifier is disconnected from the power source before proceeding. Place the AVR on a level, firm surface away from direct sunlight, heat, or moisture. Avoid placing it on top of an amplifier or other heat source. Ensure the remote control receiver on the front panel is unobstructed. Do not place record decks on top of the unit due to sensitivity to power supply noise. Strong electromagnetic interference may affect normal operation; if this occurs, reset the unit or relocate it. The product offers an option to deactivate power management functions, which will increase energy consumption.
Connectivity
Network Connection: For a wired connection, use a CAT-5e or higher Ethernet cable to connect the AVR's Ethernet port to your network router. For a Wi-Fi connection, download the JBL PREMIUM AUDIO app. Connect the supplied antennas for Bluetooth/Wireless connectivity to the rear panel. Follow the app's prompts to connect to your Wi-Fi network, or use Apple AirPlay speaker setup.
Playback
The JBL AVR supports playback from various apps and services, including Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Apple AirPlay, Chromecast, and Roon. The JBL PREMIUM AUDIO app provides access to setup favorites, internet radio, podcasts, connected USB media, and local network storage.
Bluetooth Operation
To connect your phone or tablet via Bluetooth, select the Bluetooth input on the AVR and push and hold the Input knob to initiate Pairing Mode. On your device, open Bluetooth settings, scan for the AVR (e.g., MA310/MA510/MA710 ######), and select it. The AVR can store up to 7 paired devices. A default volume setting is applied upon pairing to prevent excessive output.
Audio/Video Inputs
JBL recommends using pre-built or professionally wired cables for audio and video connections. Supported cables include HDMI, Analog audio (RCA), Coax digital, and Optical cables. Speaker outputs utilize binding post connectors for bare wire, spade, or banana plug terminations. Ensure correct polarity when connecting speakers. For subwoofer connections, use a dedicated subwoofer cable.
