01. Getting Started
This manual helps you complete the final touches on your LEKKER bike. Follow these quick steps to start exploring.
Unbox your LEKKER bike and prepare your toolkit. The required tools are shown in the illustration.
Diagram Description: An illustration displays an Allen key set with sizes H3, H4, H5, and H6, alongside a multitool featuring a 15mm spanner.
02. Fitting the front wheel and fender
Step 1: Attach the front fender
Referring to the illustration, loosen the nut and bolt on the front fork using two 5mm Allen keys. Attach the fender, ensuring adequate space between the tyre and the fender.
Step 2: Attaching the front stay to the front fork
Using the provided clips and a 3mm or 4mm Allen key bolt, attach the front fender stay to the front fork.
Step 3: Putting the wheel in place
Referring to the illustration, place the wheel and tighten the wheel nut with the 15mm spanner.
Proceed to the brakes.
Diagram Description: An illustration of a front wheel shows three numbered steps: 1 indicates loosening a nut/bolt on the fork for fender attachment; 2 shows a clip for attaching the fender stay to the fork; 3 shows tightening the wheel nut with a spanner.
03. Aligning the brakes
Lift the wheel and spin it. It should rotate freely and silently. If you hear a rubbing sound, the brakes need adjustment.
To adjust, use a 5mm Allen key. With the bike upside down, loosen the two 5mm Allen key bolts on the caliper. Gently move the caliper horizontally so the disc rotor spins freely between the brake pads.
Diagram Description: An illustration of a disc brake caliper shows red arrows indicating how to adjust the caliper horizontally to ensure the disc rotor moves freely between the brake pads.
04. Aligning the gears
Step 1: Checking alignment
Engage the fourth gear on your shifting system. The yellow alignment lines at your rear wheel axle should be next to each other.
Step 2: Adjusting alignment
Locate the Gear Barrel Adjustor on your handlebar shifter. Turn it clockwise or anti-clockwise to align the yellow lines.
Diagram Description: An illustration shows a rear derailleur mechanism. One diagram depicts misaligned yellow lines, while another shows them correctly aligned. Arrows indicate the direction of adjustment for the Gear Barrel Adjustor.
05. Fitting the saddle and handlebars
Saddle
Using a 5mm Allen key, loosen the seatpost clamp bolt and insert the seatpost to the correct height. When sitting on the saddle, your knee should have a slight bend when the pedal is at its lowest position. Tighten the bolt.
Tip: A 5mm Allen key can also adjust the seatpost angle and fore-aft position, though these should ideally be pre-set.
Handlebars
Step 1: Using a 4mm Allen key, attach the handlebars to the handlebar stem, ensuring the four bolts are centered and properly tightened.
Step 2: Align the handlebars to be straight and perpendicular to the frame. Tighten the handlebar stem to the front fork using the 4mm Allen key.
Tip: You can adjust the angles of grips, brakes, and shifters with a 3mm or 4mm Allen key, but they should be correctly set already.
Diagram Description: An illustration shows the handlebar stem connection. Numbered points indicate: 1 for attaching the handlebars to the stem, and 2 for adjusting the seatpost. Another diagram illustrates handlebars aligned at a 90-degree angle to the frame.
06. Fitting the pedals
You will need a 15mm open-ended spanner to assemble the pedals. Insert each pedal into its corresponding crank arm and ensure they are tightened securely.
LEFT pedal: Identified by indented horizontal lines on the part between the pedal and the thread.
RIGHT pedal: Identified by a smooth surface between the pedal and the thread, with no indented lines.
ATTENTION: Verify the thread direction before inserting pedals. Incorrect installation can damage the crank arm and will void the warranty.
Diagram Description: Illustrations show the left and right pedals being screwed into crank arms. The left pedal is marked with indented horizontal lines, while the right pedal is smooth. Arrows indicate the threading direction.
07. Finishing Touches
Install the bell on your handlebars, typically on the left side next to the brake lever.
Pump the tyres to 55-65 PSI.
If you ordered accessories like racks, locks, or lights, install them according to their specific instructions, using the designated mounting points.
Your bike is now ready. Enjoy your ride, the Amsterdam way!
