Instructions Before Installation

Before use, download and register an account on the Aqara Home app. Direct connection with the Apple Home app is possible but may limit features like auto-lock.

App Download: Sign up for an Aqara Home account and add the Smart Lock U50, following the app's installation tutorial.

Installation Videos: Scan the provided QR code (or visit www.aqara.com/en/support.html) for installation videos.

Required Tools: A PH1 standard Phillips head screwdriver is essential. For new doors or adjusting existing ones, you may also need a Drill, Hole Saws, Wood Mortise Chisel, Pencil, Tape Measure, and Level.

Device Installation Guide

  1. Measure the backset: Determine the distance from the door edge to the center of the deadbolt hole. It should be 2 3/8 inches (60 mm) or 2 3/4 inches (70 mm).
  2. Adjust the latch: Based on the measurement, install the latch directly if it's 2 3/8 inches (60 mm). If it's 2 3/4 inches (70 mm), rotate the latch 180 degrees to extend its length.
  3. Fix the latch: Ensure the "TOP" indicator on the latch is facing upwards.
  4. Install the strike plate: Attach the strike plate to the door frame. Options for square or rounded faceplates and strike plates are available.
  5. Mount the outer panel: Pass the outer panel connector cable through the deadbolt and secure the outer panel using the mounting plate and opposite-pull screw. After installation, rotate the tailpiece to ensure smooth locking/unlocking. If there's resistance, check the tailpiece alignment and for interference.
  6. Prepare for inner panel: Remove the battery cover and then detach the knob cover using the removal tool.
  7. Connect to inner panel: Secure the outer panel's connector cable to the inner panel.
  8. Install the inner panel: Fix the inner panel to the mounting plate indoors and cover the knob.
  9. Final Check: Once batteries are installed, a voice prompt will confirm the installation is complete.

Preparation Before Use

  1. A smartphone or tablet supporting Wi-Fi or cellular network (iOS or Android) is required.
  2. Ensure a stable 2.4G Wi-Fi connection.
  3. Install 4 AA batteries into the battery compartment.
    • Recommendation: Use original or alkaline batteries to prevent leakage and damage.
    • Warning: Replace batteries when low. Low battery may cause verification and door opening failures. In such cases, use the USB-C emergency power supply or a physical key.
  4. Perform a reset: Long press the "Reset" button for 3 seconds until a voice prompt is heard.
    • Note: After reset, the door lock cannot be locked normally until user information is re-entered. Please set up the lock with user information promptly.
