Introduction & Requirements
Wi-Fi Compatibility / Connectivity
Rinnai T Series Split Type Wall Mounted Air Conditioner models (HSNRT25B, HSNRT35B, HSNRT50B, HSNRT70B, HSNRT80B) are equipped with built-in Wi-Fi. The AC Freedom App, available on Apple App Store or Google Play, allows remote operation via a smartphone. Multiple appliances can be managed.
A Wi-Fi router is required to control the air conditioner(s) via the AC Freedom App.
IMPORTANT: The air conditioner must be installed in a location with Wi-Fi router coverage. For remote operation, the Wi-Fi router needs an internet connection to communicate with the mobile device.

Minimum Requirements
- Rinnai Split Type Wall Mounted Air Conditioner models: HSNRT25B, HSNRT35B, HSNRT50B, HSNRT70B, HSNRT80B.
- Wi-Fi Router: 2.4G frequency range, supporting 802.11b/g/n mode, with coverage of the appliance location.
- For remote cloud-based operation: Wi-Fi router/modem with an active internet connection.
- Smart phone/Tablet: Android 4.1+ or Apple iOS 9.0+ with the AC Freedom App installed.
Wi-Fi Set Up
This section guides you through pairing your mobile device with the Wi-Fi network and setting up the AC Freedom App.
Pairing With Mobile Device & Wi-Fi Network
- Open App & Confirm Privacy Notice: Launch the AC Freedom App and review the Privacy Notice.
- Select User Area: Choose "Australia" as your user area and select OK. New users will need to register via email or phone.
- Activate App: The AC Freedom App requires activation via a QR code or an activation code.
- QR Code Method: Use your mobile device's camera to scan the provided QR code.
- Activation Code Method: Type "rinnai" into the activation code field and select activate.
Note: Grant the app camera permission if prompted. The activation code is case-sensitive (lowercase).
- Welcome Home Page: A "Welcome home" page will briefly display, confirming successful activation and location.
- Login/Sign Up: Enter your username and password to log into the app. If you don't have an account, select "Sign up" and use your phone number or email address with a unique password.
- Verification: Check your email or mobile text messages for a verification code. Enter this code to complete registration.
- Add Device: On the Device List page, select the "+ Add device" button. Follow the on-screen prompts. Turn on the Air Conditioner to be paired and activate its Wi-Fi module by pressing the "HEALTH" button on the remote control 8 times. A double beep indicates the Wi-Fi module is activated and ready for pairing for 30 minutes. Select "Next Step".
- Accept Terms: Review and accept the Terms and Conditions.
- Turn on Location Service: Enable location services for the app to set up devices.
- Connect to Wi-Fi Network: Select your desired Wi-Fi network to begin configuration. The app will send the Wi-Fi SSID and password to the device.
- Device Location and Name: Select a room for your device (e.g., Living room, Bedroom) to help organize your devices. You can also name your device, which can be used for voice control with Google Home or Alexa.
Note: Changing your internet provider may require uninstalling and re-registering the app.
Configuration: The configuration process typically takes 1-2 minutes. The Device List page will update once the AC device is successfully added. To add more devices, use the "+ Add" button.
If configuration is unsuccessful, ensure your Wi-Fi network is active and repeat the steps. If issues persist, contact Rinnai.
Device Editor & Timer
The AC device must be connected to the Wi-Fi network to use these features. Save any changes before exiting the Device Editor, as unsaved changes will be lost.
Device Editor: Allows customization of the app interface and access to AC device firmware updates. You can change the device icon and name.
Firmware Upgrade: Select "Firmware Upgrade" to update the device firmware. Ensure your Wi-Fi router has an internet connection for this process.
Device Sharing: Allows sharing control of the air conditioner with others.
Creating a Customised Timer
To add a new delay timer, select the '+' sign on the Timer list page. Set the desired time, repeat schedule, and action. Remember to SAVE your timer parameters.
Operation
Device List Page
After opening the app, the Device List page displays your connected AC devices. Select the desired device to control.
Standby Mode
The air conditioner is plugged in and powered on but not actively operating.
Control Buttons (App Interface)
- Power [Power]: Turns the appliance ON or OFF.
- Clean [Clean]: Initiates a cleaning operation to remove moisture and prevent odors, especially after long periods of non-use (over one month). This operation takes approximately 35 minutes.
- Mildew (Fresh) [Mildew]: Enables the "FRESH" function, running the fan for 3 minutes after shutdown to remove moisture, prevent odors, and keep the unit fresh.
- Display [Display]: Turns the air conditioner's large digital display on or off.
Operation Functions
From the main operation screen, you can access controls for Heating, Cooling, Fan Speed, and Timers.
- 3-dot Menu: Access Timer and Device Information settings.
- Device Name: Displays the name of the currently selected AC device.
- Temperature Control: Adjust the set temperature up or down.
- Current Room Temperature: Displays the current ambient temperature.
- Exit/Back Button: Navigates back to the previous screen.
Mode Button
Select the "Mode" button to choose a basic operation mode.
- Cooling: Operates the air conditioner for cooling. Temperature range: 16°C to 32°C (in 0.5°C increments).
- Heating: Operates the air conditioner for heating. Temperature range: 16°C to 32°C (in 0.5°C increments).
- Fan: Circulates room air without changing the temperature.
- Dry (Dehumidifying): Removes excess moisture from the room to prevent mold and mildew and improve comfort. Adjusts temperature and fan speed automatically for optimal humidity.
- Auto: Automatically adjusts fan speed, heating/cooling mode, and temperature based on the current room temperature. The table below shows the Auto mode settings:

Fan Speed Button
Manually adjust fan speed or set to automatic. Available speeds: Mute, Low, Mid, High, Turbo, Auto.
Note: Only one operation mode is available at a time.
Other Functions

- Display: Toggle the air conditioner's digital display.
- Health: Currently has no function for these models.
- Sleep: Activates sleep mode for gradual temperature adjustments over 10 hours to maintain comfort and save energy. Sleep mode is not available in FAN only mode.
- ECO: Select for economical cooling.
- Timer: Program On and Off timers.
- Power Limit: Operates the air conditioner in a low power rate mode.
Sleep Mode
For Cooling: Allows temperature to increase/decrease over 10 hours for comfort and energy saving.
For Heating: Allows temperature to decrease/increase over 10 hours for comfort and energy saving.
Note: The Delay Off Timer can be used with SLEEP mode to automatically turn off the air conditioner.
Sleep Curve
Create a customized sleep curve. Only one sleep curve program can be saved at a time. Settings are lost if power is interrupted. Ensure you save edits before exiting.
App Settings
Access various settings and features through the app's "Control" and "Me" tabs.
- Control Tab: Provides direct access to Device List and Add Device pages.
- My Home Tab: Allows renaming, adding rooms, devices, and members.
- Me Tab: Offers advanced control operations and third-party services.
Third-Party Services
Provides voice assistance via supported services like Alexa and Google Home.
Voice Control with Google Home or Amazon Alexa
The Rinnai T Series is compatible with Google Home and Amazon Alexa smart devices via the AC Freedom App.

2. General
By downloading the App, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and the Wi-Fi Operations Manual. Rinnai may update these terms and the App; users should download and understand all updates.
3. Australian Consumer Law (ACL)
Goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL. Consumers are entitled to replacement, refund, or compensation for major failures, and repair/replacement for quality failures.
4. Use of the App
The App is for personal use only. Users are responsible for all costs incurred. Follow the Wi-Fi Operations Manual for operation. Do not use the App for unlawful purposes. The App is for control and monitoring, not critical heating/cooling applications.
5. Termination
Users can terminate by deleting the App. Rinnai may terminate if terms are breached.
6. Intellectual Property
Rinnai grants a limited license to use the App. All intellectual property rights belong to Rinnai or its licensors. The App may not be modified, copied, sold, or distributed.
7. Disclaimer
Rinnai makes no warranties that the App will be error-free or secure. Rinnai excludes liability for damages arising from App use. Rinnai is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss.
8. Force Majeure
Rinnai is released from obligations due to events beyond its control (e.g., national emergency, war).
