Introduction
Welcome to the new generation of CB radios. The PRESIDENT HARRY II ASC offers top performance and quality for personal communication.
Installation
1. Mounting Your Mobile CB Radio
Choose a practical location that does not interfere with the driver or passengers. Use the provided cradle (1) and self-tapping screws (2). Ensure wiring is protected. For dashboard mounting, an external speaker (connector C) may improve sound quality.
2. Antenna Installation
For optimal results, longer antennas are recommended. Mobile antennas should be mounted on a maximum metallic surface, away from windscreens. Fixed antennas require clear space. Ensure good ground contact for drilled antennas and protect coaxial cables. Connect the antenna to connector B.
3. Power Connection
The PRESIDENT HARRY II ASC operates on 12V DC (A). Ensure correct polarity (red wire to positive +, black wire to negative -). For 24V systems, use a 24/12V converter. Connect directly to the battery to minimize interference. The unit is protected against polarity inversion but check connections before powering on. The fuse is rated at 2A; do not replace it with a different value.
Basic Operations Before First Use
- Connect the microphone.
- Check antenna connections.
- Turn the set on by turning the VOLUME knob (1) clockwise.
- Turn the SQUELCH knob to minimum (anti-clockwise).
- Adjust the volume to a comfortable level.
- Go to Channel 20 using the rotary knob.
Adjustment of SWR (Standing Wave Ratio)
This must be done when first using the radio or repositioning the antenna. Perform in an obstacle-free area. Use an external SWR meter connected between the CB radio and antenna (max 40cm cable). Set the SWR meter to CAL or FWD, press the PTT switch, calibrate using the key, then switch to SWR. The reading should be as close to 1 as possible (1-1.8 is acceptable). Re-calibrate after antenna adjustments. PRESIDENT recommends cables less than 3m.
How to Use Your CB
1. ON/OFF - VOLUME
Turn knob (1) clockwise to turn on and increase volume.
2. ASC (Automatic Squelch Control)/SQUELCH
Suppresses background noise. ASC is a patented PRESIDENT feature for improved listening comfort. Manual squelch requires precise adjustment to eliminate noise without cutting strong signals.
3. RF GAIN
Adjusts reception sensitivity. Set to maximum for long distances. Reduce to avoid distortion with nearby correspondents.
4. CHANNEL SELECTOR ROTARY KNOB
Selects channels 1-40 for transmitting and receiving.
5. DISPLAY
Shows functions, reception level, and emitted power. The TX LED indicates transmission mode.
6. FREQUENCY BAND SELECTION
Choose bands according to the country of operation. Follow specific switch (F/OFF) and channel selection procedures. Some countries require a license.
7. MODE
Select AM (obstacles, medium distance) or FM (nearby, flat areas). Must match your correspondent's mode.
8. CH 19
Dedicated switch for Channel 19.
9. 6-PIN MICROPHONE PLUG
Front panel microphone connector.
10. PTT (Push to Talk)
Press to transmit, release to listen.

Trouble Shooting
1. CB Radio Will Not Transmit or Transmission is Poor Quality
- Check antenna connection and SWR adjustment.
- Check microphone connection.
- If display flashes when PTT is activated, release and re-press PTT.
2. CB Radio Will Not Receive or Reception is Poor
- Check squelch level.
- Check volume level.
- Check microphone connection.
- Check antenna connection and SWR adjustment.
- Ensure you are using the same modulation mode (AM/FM) as your correspondent.
3. CB Will Not Light Up
- Check power supply.
- Check connection wiring.
- Check the fuse.
How to Transmit or Receive a Message
Ensure your CB radio is ready (antenna connected). Choose your channel (e.g., 19, 27) and mode (AM/FM) matching your correspondent. Press the PTT switch and announce your message (e.g., "Attention stations, transmission testing") to check signal clarity and power. Release the PTT and wait for a reply. If using a calling channel, switch to another available channel for conversation to keep the calling channel clear.
