Axxess AX-ADCT4 Installation Guide: 4-Channel Line Output Converter
Product Overview
The Axxess AX-ADCT4 is a 4-channel adjustable Line Output Converter (LOC) designed to convert speaker-level audio into line-level audio. It is suitable for use with OEM amplifiers or for adding aftermarket amplifiers to OEM radios. The device features a built-in amplifier remote generator that activates when an audio signal is detected.
Features & Specifications
- Handles 80 watts per channel continuous input without overheating.
- Input circuitry corrects crossover distortion common in standard LOCs.
- Provides a high-to-low level step down ratio of 6:1.
- Infinitely adjustable output audio level via onboard potentiometers.
- Remote output/amplifier trigger rated at 500mA (+12V), capable of handling an outboard relay.
- Remote output triggers instantaneously when a DC voltage above 5V is detected on the white, left (+) audio input wire or a very low audio signal is present.
- Remote output shuts off 60 seconds after no signal is detected.
Installation
The AX-ADCT4 should be installed by connecting to a stereo's speaker output wires or the output wires of an OEM amplifier (up to 80 watts per channel). These wires are typically found behind the stereo in the dash, on the OEM amplifier's output, or at the input terminals of OEM speakers. Refer to the wiring diagram for specific input connection details.
Wire Color & Function
The audio and power input wire colors follow the EIA standard for car stereo applications.

Important Notes & Adjustment
Note: Ensure all audio input connections are polarized or in phase with each other. Connect positive output wires from the audio source to the corresponding positive input wires of the AX-ADCT4, and similarly for negative wires. Incorrect phasing will result in poor bass response and low audio quality.
Adjusting for Maximum Performance
After completing all connections:
- Turn the AX-ADCT4 adjustment pots fully down (rotate counter-clockwise).
- Turn the stereo system on and set the main volume control to approximately half maximum volume.
- Select one adjustment pot on the AX-ADCT4 and slowly rotate it clockwise until audio distortion is noticeable, then stop.
- Adjust the remaining pots to match the position of the first adjusted pot.
The audio setup of the AX-ADCT4 is now complete.
