Fitting a Plug (UK and Ireland Only)
This appliance must be earthed. If the plug is not suitable for the socket outlets in your home, it can be removed and replaced by a plug of the correct type. The plug should be ASTA approved to BS1363 and the fuse should be ASTA approved to BS1362. If the fuse in a moulded plug needs to be changed, the fuse cover must be refitted. The appliance must not be used without the fuse cover fitted. If the plug fuse requires replacement, a fuse of the same rating as that fitted by the manufacturer must be used. In order to prevent a hazard, do not fit a fuse of a lower or higher rating. If the terminals in the plug are not marked or if you are unsure about the installation of the plug, please contact a qualified electrician.

Preparation for Use (Italiano)
Before using your Crockpot® slow cooker, remove all packaging and wash the lid and removable cooking bowl with warm, soapy water, then dry thoroughly.
Important Notes: Some worktop and table surfaces are not designed to withstand prolonged heat generated by certain appliances. Do not place the heated unit or cooking bowl on a heat-sensitive surface. It is recommended to place an insulating mat or a suitably sized trivet under the slow cooker to prevent possible surface damage. Exercise caution when placing the cooker on a ceramic or glass hob, worktop, table, or other surfaces. Due to the cooker's characteristics, the rough base surface may scratch some surfaces if care is not taken. Always place a protective mat under the aluminium cooking bowl before placing it on a table or worktop.
A slight smoke or odour may be detected during the initial use of this appliance. This is a normal phenomenon with heating appliances and will cease after a few uses.
How to Use the Sauté Slow Cooker (Italiano)
- Place the aluminium cooking bowl over the heating base, add ingredients, and cover with the lid. You can place the cooking bowl on the hob to brown meat and sauté ingredients before placing it in the slow cooker.
- Plug the slow cooker into the mains power supply and select the High or Low cooking temperature using the control dial.
- Note: The Warm setting is ONLY for keeping already cooked food warm. DO NOT cook with the Warm setting. It is not recommended to use the Warm setting for more than 4 hours.
- When cooking is complete, unplug the cooker and allow it to cool before cleaning.
Notes for Use:
- If necessary, you can manually select the Warm setting at the end of the cooking time specified in the recipe.
- To avoid over or undercooking food, always fill the cooking bowl to 1/2 or 2/3 full and follow the recommended cooking times.
- Do not overfill the cooking bowl. To prevent overflow, do not fill the cooking bowl more than 3/4 full.
- Always cook with the lid on for the recommended time. Do not remove the lid during the first two hours of cooking to allow heat to build up efficiently.
- Always wear oven gloves when handling the lid or the removable cooking bowl. Be careful of escaping steam when opening or removing the lid.
- Unplug from the electrical supply at the end of cooking and before cleaning.
- The removable aluminium cooking bowl is suitable for oven use. The cooking bowl is suitable for use with gas or electric hobs. The bowl can be used for sautéing ingredients on a medium heat hob as the bowl heats up quickly. Sautéing will occur more quickly than when using a traditional pan. Refer to the table below. Please note that the bowl will not work on an induction hob.

Guide to Adapting Recipes (Italiano)
This guide aims to help you adapt your recipes, and others, for the slow cooker. Many of the normal preparation steps are not necessary when using the slow cooker. In most cases, you can add all ingredients to the slow cooker at the same time and let them cook all day.
General Principles:
- Allow sufficient cooking time.
- Cook with the lid closed.
- For optimal results and to prevent food from drying out or burning, always ensure there is an adequate amount of liquid in the recipe.
Cooking Times (Approximate)
Recipe Time | Cook on LOW Setting | Cook on HIGH Setting |
---|---|---|
15 to 30 minutes | 4 to 6 hours | 1 to 2 hours |
30 to 45 minutes | 6 to 10 hours | 3 to 4 hours |
50 minutes to 3 hours | 8 to 10 hours | 4 to 6 hours |
Pasta and Rice:
- For optimal results, use long-grain rice, basmati rice, or a special rice as indicated in the recipe. If after the suggested time the rice is not fully cooked, add one cup or one and a half cups of water or broth per cup of cooked rice and continue cooking for another 20-30 minutes.
- For optimal results, add pasta to the slow cooker during the last 30-60 minutes of cooking time.
Beans:
- Dried beans, especially red beans, should be boiled before adding to a recipe.
- You can use pre-cooked canned beans as a substitute for dried beans.
Vegetables:
- Many vegetables benefit from slow cooking, which fully enhances their flavour. They tend not to overcook in the slow cooker as they do in the oven or on the stovetop.
- When cooking recipes with vegetables and meat, place the vegetables in the slow cooker before the meat. Vegetables usually cook more slowly than meat in the slow cooker and benefit from being partially immersed in the cooking liquid.
- To aid cooking, place vegetables near the bottom of the cooking bowl.
Dairy:
- Milk, cream, and sour cream can curdle during prolonged cooking. Where possible, add these ingredients during the last 15-30 minutes of cooking.
Soups:
- Some recipes require large amounts of water/broth. First, add the soup ingredients to the slow cooker, then add just enough water/broth to cover. If you desire a thinner soup, add more liquid when serving.
Meats:
- Remove fat, rinse well, and pat the meat dry with paper towels.
- Browning the meat first allows fat to be drained before slow cooking, and also enhances flavour intensity. This can be done using the cooking bowl directly on a gas or electric hob.
- Position the meat so that it rests within the cooking bowl without touching the lid.
- For smaller or larger cuts of meat, adjust the amount of vegetables or potatoes so that the bowl is always half or three-quarters full.
- Meat sizes and recommended cooking times are only estimates and may vary depending on the specific cut, type of meat, and bone structure. Lean meats, such as chicken or pork loin, tend to cook faster than meats with more connective tissue and fat, such as beef brisket or pork shoulder. Cooking bone-in meat rather than boneless increases the required cooking time.
- Cut meat into smaller pieces when cooking with pre-cooked items like beans, or light vegetables such as mushrooms, chopped onion, aubergines, or thinly sliced vegetables. This will allow all ingredients to cook at the same rate.
Fish:
- Fish cooks quickly and should be added at the end of the cooking cycle, 15 minutes to an hour before the end.
Liquids:
- Our slow cooker recipes may appear to use only a modest amount of liquid, but the slow cooking method differs from others in this respect: the liquid added in the recipe practically doubles during the cooking time. Therefore, when adapting a recipe for the slow cooker based on a traditional recipe, reduce the amount of liquid before cooking.
Cleaning (Italiano)
Before cleaning, ALWAYS unplug the slow cooker from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool down.
CAUTION: Never immerse the heating base, power cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
- The aluminium cooking bowl and lid can be washed in a dishwasher or with warm, soapy water. Do not use abrasive detergents or scouring pads. A cloth, sponge, or rubber brush is usually sufficient to remove any residue. To remove water marks or other stains, use a non-abrasive cleaner or vinegar.
- If the cooking bowl is used on a hob or put in a dishwasher, its colour may change slightly. This will not affect the overall performance of the bowl. Cleaning with a soft cloth can help restore its original appearance.
- The aluminium cooking bowl and lid do not withstand sudden temperature changes. Do not wash the bowl or lid with cold water when they are hot.
- The exterior of the heating base can be cleaned with a soft cloth and warm, soapy water. Dry with a dry cloth. Do not use abrasive detergents.
- No other maintenance should be carried out.
- Note: After hand washing, air dry the bowl before storing.
