Let's Get Started
Follow these steps to set up your Nighthawk router:
Step 1: Download the Nighthawk App
On your mobile phone, scan the QR code [QR code to download Nighthawk app] to download the Nighthawk app and follow the setup instructions.
If you used the Nighthawk app before, go to the dashboard and tap the top left menu, then select "SET UP A NEW NIGHTHAWK SYSTEM".
Step 2: Check Your Network Security
Check your network security with NETGEAR Armor™. NETGEAR Armor protects your family's WiFi with an automatic shield of security across your connected devices.
Tap the [Security tile] in your Nighthawk app to explore your complimentary Armor trial and protection score.
Step 3: Explore App Features
Do more with the app. Check out everything you can do on the Nighthawk app! Pause the Internet, run a speed test, set smart parental controls, and more.
Nighthawk App Interface Overview
The Nighthawk app interface typically includes sections for:
- Device Manager: Shows connected devices.
- Security: Access NETGEAR Armor status and settings.
- Internet Speed: Run speed tests.
- Parental Controls: Manage internet access for devices.
- Network Map: Visualize your network.
- WiFi Settings: Configure your WiFi network name and password.

Router Components
LED Indicators:
- Power LED: Indicates the router's power status.
- Internet LED: Shows the status of the internet connection.
- LAN 1-4 LEDs: Indicate activity on the Gigabit LAN ports.
- USB LED: Shows status for the USB port.
- 2.4 GHz band LED: Indicates activity on the 2.4 GHz WiFi band.
- 5 GHz band LED: Indicates activity on the 5 GHz WiFi band.
- 6 GHz band LED: Indicates activity on the 6 GHz WiFi band.
Buttons:
- Sync/WPS button: Used for Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) and syncing devices.
- LED on/off button: Controls the router's LED lights.
- Reset button: Resets the router to factory default settings.
- Power on/off button: Turns the router on or off.

- 10G LAN port: A high-speed 10 Gigabit Ethernet LAN port.
