Power Modes and Battery Operation
AC Adapter Operation
A 9- volt AC power adapt or is supplied wit h t he TS- 04. AC powering perm it s you t o leave t he TS- 04 on all t he t im e and be ready to use instantly when you type on the keyboard.
The wireless keyboard has a 10- foot range t o enable portable typing across a room .

Portable/Battery Operation

Typing To Talk

To st art using t he TS- 04 press t he speaker Power ON/ OFF swit ch, wait unt il t he blue Act ive indicat or is ON, and begin t yping t o t alk. There is no ON/ OFF swit ch for t he keyboard. I t powers on instantly every tim e you begin typing and powers off autom atically.
To t alk, t ype a word or phrase, t hen press t he ent er key.
I f you m ake a m istake typing j ust press the backspace key to delete the last keypress entry ( or words) while typing.

Advanced features such as auto- repeat, saving phrases, continuous speech generation and speaking over telephones are described below.

Using Function Keys to Say Phrases
Funct ion keys can be used t o st ore com m only used phrases. After program m ing, pressing any function key will speak the pre- program m ed p h r ases.

A total of 32 phrases are available. F1 and F2 pre-allocated to special factory stored phrases. 30 other phrases are programmable.

Funct ion key phrases are recorded and saved t o m em ory aft er t he TS- 04 is powered off.

"Alt" and "Control" key combinations may be used to store 20 additional phrases. Hold down ( or press and release) t he ALT or CTRL key, t hen press t he desired Funct ion Key ( F3 t o F12) t o program recorded phrases.

Speaking on a telephone line
You can use TextSpeak TS-04 to speak directly into a telephone using any standard speakerphone.
Sim ply place t he TS- 04 speaker near t he phone and t he dist ant caller will hear your typed phrases loud and clear.

Appendix A Changing voice, language and settings

The TS- 04 is capable of support ing 2 voice st yles as well as English and Spanish languages. Select ing t hese m ay be m ade by ent ering a special " Set up Mode"

Pressing the `CTRL' and "S" key enables "Setup Mode"

Appendix B Replacing Keyboard Batteries

W hen keyboard batteries are replaced w ireless links m ust be restored for speech to be generated

Keyboard batteries should normally be replaced every year. However, when batteries are removed a special CONNECT process MUST be used to reactivate the keyboard link to the TS-04. This process is ONLY needed for KEYBOARD batteries. The TS-04 9v main battery does not require this process.
