Philips DST5000 Series Steam Iron User Manual

Model Series: DST5000

Getting Started and Usage

This manual provides instructions for using your Philips steam iron. Please read all instructions before use.

Preparation for Use

When using the iron for the first time, some smoke may be visible. This is normal and will cease after a short while.

Key Features:

Operating Instructions

  1. Fill the water tank: Open the water tank cap and fill with water up to the MAX indicator. Close the cap.
  2. Plug in the iron and select the desired temperature using the temperature control dial. The indicator light will turn on.
  3. Wait for the iron to heat up. The indicator light will turn off when the iron reaches the set temperature.
  4. Start ironing. Use the steam boost button for extra steam when needed.
  5. For vertical steaming, hold the iron upright and press the steam boost button.

Calc-Clean Function

Regularly use the Calc-Clean function to remove scale buildup and maintain optimal performance. Follow the instructions shown in the diagrams for the Calc-Clean process.

Auto Shut-Off

The iron is equipped with an Auto Shut-Off feature for safety. If the iron is left untouched for a period of time (e.g., 30 seconds on its soleplate or side, 8 minutes on its base), it will automatically switch off.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, refer to the troubleshooting section in the original manual or visit the Philips support website.

Maintenance and Care

Cleaning the Soleplate: After the iron has cooled down, wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth. If there are stubborn residues, use a damp cloth with a small amount of non-abrasive liquid detergent. Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry with a soft cloth.

Descaling: Regularly descale the iron using the Calc-Clean function as described in the operating instructions.

Storage: Allow the iron to cool down completely before storing. Store it upright in a dry place.
