Introduction

Wi-Fi Compatibility / Connectivity

Enviroflo Heat Pump Hot Water Systems models are fitted with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity. Using the Rinnai Enviroflo Timer App (available from Apple App Store or Google Play), it is then possible to use a smart phone to operate the appliance's timer function remotely. Multiple compatible appliances can be added as required.

A Wi-Fi router (paired with the appliance via the Rinnai Enviroflo Timer App) is used to control the appliance(s).

IMPORTANT: The Appliance(s) MUST BE installed in a location that has Wi-Fi router coverage. If the controlling mobile device is outside of the Wi-Fi router's coverage (i.e., operating remotely), you will not be able to access the Heat Pump timer function.

Diagram Description: The diagram illustrates Wi-Fi connectivity within a common Wi-Fi router range (local connectivity only). It shows:

  • 2. Smart phone (using Wi-Fi)

  • For remote cloud-based operation: Wi-Fi router / modem with active internet connection.
  • Smart phone / Tablet: Android – API 19 & above or iOS 9 & above, with the Rinnai Enviroflo Timer App installed.

Wi-Fi Set Up

Follow these steps to set up Wi-Fi connectivity for your Enviroflo Heat Pump Hot Water System:

  1. Search and Install App: Search for the ‘Rinnai Enviroflo Timer’ app from the App Store or Google Play. Download and install it.
  2. Launch App: Launch the app on your phone and press the ‘Connect Device’ button.
  3. Initiate Pairing: Press and hold the push button on the unit for 10 seconds, until the white LED around the button starts flashing.
  4. Connect to Network: Choose your home network, insert your home network password, and press the ‘Attempt Connection’ button.

Password may require a number of characters including alphabet and numerals.

  5. Wi-Fi Pairing: Wi-Fi pairing will take a few seconds. Once the device is logged onto the home Wi-Fi network, the white LED around the push button will start flashing rapidly. Once the connection is successful, a confirmation message will be displayed.

Diagram Description: Screenshots show the app interface for connecting a device. The first shows 'Available Devices' with no devices connected. The second shows a 'Successful Connection' message confirming the device is connected to the network.

  6. Device Confirmation: Once connected, the Enviroflo Heat Pump will appear as an available device in the app. Select the device on your screen.

This process only needs to be followed at initial set-up.

Configuration Screen

After connecting, you will be redirected to the Configuration Screen.

This screen allows you to configure the Enviroflo and provides general information:

  • Current Date and Time: Automatically set when the mobile device is synchronised.
  • Timer Mode: On/Off function to activate the Schedule.
  • Run Modes: Three run modes can be configured. Checkboxes allow selection based on user preference. The minimum time between ‘on’ and ‘off’ is 15 minutes.
  • Schedule Graph: A graph displays your scheduled settings. Ensure that times do not overlap.
  • Day Selection: Days of the week can be selected for factory settings or the Scheduled Timer.
  • Recommendations Button: Displays manufacturer-recommended operation times.
  • Reset Button: Allows the user to reset configurations.

After making configuration changes, press the ‘Save’ button to apply them. Settings will not be applied until the user presses this button.

Diagram Description: Screenshots show the Device Configuration screen with fields for Date, Time, Device Name, Timer Mode, Run Mode, Start Time, and Day Selection. It also shows the 'Recommendations', 'Reset', and 'Save' buttons. A final confirmation message 'Configuration saved successfully.' is also depicted.

Troubleshooting

If you cannot connect to the Water Heater Wi-Fi network or the Settings page is not loading:

  • Check that your phone is connected to your home network.
  • The signal strength may not be strong enough.

Diagram Description: A screenshot of a phone's Wi-Fi settings is shown, displaying 'Current Network' as EHPA and 'Available Networks' including various other network names. The 'Available Devices' section shows 'Device 1644275038 EHPA'.

Important Note: If configuration continues to fail, check your Wi-Fi Router to ensure it is set to the 2.4G frequency range and 802.11b/g mode.

If configuration continues to fail, contact Rinnai.
