Product Overview
This document provides operating instructions, safety warnings, and technical data for the STAYER series of electric mixers, including models DM1450, M1200C, M1200CK, M1500, M1500K, and M1600. These tools are designed for mixing powdered construction materials such as mortars, plasters, adhesives, paints, varnishes, and similar solvent-free substances.
Safety Warnings
Machine-Specific Safety Warnings
- ⚠️ Do not use for explosive materials (e.g., flammable solvents) as sparks can ignite vapors.
- If the tool falls into the material being stirred, immediately unplug it and have it checked by a service agent. Material ingress can cause damage and electric shock.
- Always use the supplied auxiliary handle for better control.
- Hold the tool firmly with both hands and maintain a secure stance for safe operation.
- Do not work with materials containing asbestos, as it is carcinogenic.
- Take protective measures (dust mask, extraction) if dust that is harmful, combustible, or explosive may be generated.
- Wait for the tool to stop completely before setting it down to prevent jamming and loss of control.
- Never use the machine with a damaged cable. Do not touch damaged cables; unplug immediately. Damaged cables increase the risk of electric shock.
- Connect outdoor-used tools via a residual current device (RCD).
General Safety Instructions
Read all warnings and instructions carefully. Failure to do so may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.
Keep the machine and ventilation slots clean for safe and efficient operation.
If the machine fails, it must be repaired by an authorized Stayer service center.
Product Features
The numbering of the product features refers to the illustration of the machine:
- 1. Mechanical velocity selector
- 2. Auxiliary handle
- 3. Stirrer paddle (Propeller stirrer)
- 4. Motor spindle (Drive spindle)
- 5. Switch on/off
- 6. Locking key switch for continuous operation
- 7. Speed adjustment
Noise and Vibration Information
Measured values according to EN 60745:
- A-weighted sound pressure level: 87 dB(A)
- Sound power level: 98 dB(A)
- Uncertainty K: 3 dB
⚠️ Wear hearing protection!
Typical hand-arm vibration is below 2.5 m²/s.
The vibration emission level has been measured according to EN 60745 and can be used for comparison. Actual levels may vary based on usage. Consider non-operational times for accurate exposure assessment.
Assembly and Tool Changing
Before any work on the machine, unplug it from the power outlet.
Changing the Tool (Stirrer Paddle)
For models with M14/M18 external thread (e.g., DM1450):
Screw the stirrer paddle (3) onto the drive spindle (4). Secure the drive spindle (4) with a 22mm spanner and tighten the paddle (3) with another 22mm spanner.
Disassembly is in reverse order.
Operation
Starting and Using the Tool
Improper use can damage the tool. Follow these instructions:
- Use tools only up to the prescribed diameter.
- Operate the tool without causing severe speed reduction or stalling.
- Check that the voltage on the type plate matches your mains supply. Tools for 230V can connect to 220V/240V.
Fitting the Mixing Tool
Screw the tool with the M14 x 2 end piece as far as possible into the tool holder and tighten with the supplied 22mm spanner.
Switching On and Off
Press and hold the switch (5) to turn the tool on. Release the switch (5) to turn it off.
Continuous Operation
- To activate: Press switch (5) fully and simultaneously press the locking button (6). Switch (5) locks, activating continuous operation.
- To deactivate: Press switch (5) again and release. The lock (6) disengages, and continuous operation stops.
Removing Tools (Mixer)
Place the 22mm spanner onto the hexagon of the tool end piece and turn counter-clockwise to unscrew it from the spindle.
Motor Electronics / Operating Motor Electronics
Starting Current Limiting
The electronically controlled soft start ensures a smooth startup, preventing splashes from thin liquids. The reduced starting current means a 16A fuse is sufficient.
Preselection of Rotation
Rotational speed can be preselected progressively. The required speed depends on the material being mixed. A practical check is recommended.
Selector de Marchas (Speed Selector)
Models with two mechanical speeds use speed 1 for high torque (thick mixtures) and speed 2 for medium torque (lighter blends) for faster work. Change gears with the machine off using selector (1). Gears can be changed while running, but not under full load.
Constant-Electronics
Maintains speed consistently during idling and under load, ensuring uniform mixing.
Electronic Overload Protection
Protects the motor from damage under extreme load. The motor stops and restarts only when the load is reduced (model 1600 only).
Temperature-Dependent Overload Protection
Switches off the motor when it reaches a critical temperature to prevent overheating. The machine is operational again after a cooling-down period of approximately 3-5 minutes. This protection may react sooner if the tool is warm.
Operating Instructions
The choice of stirrer paddle depends on the material viscosity:
- Low viscosity materials (e.g., dispersion paint, varnish, adhesives, sealing compound, cement grout): Use a left-hand spiral paddle.
- High viscosity materials (e.g., plaster, concrete, cement, screed, filler, epoxy resin): Use a right-hand spiral paddle.
Move the tool up and down while mixing. Clean the paddle after use.
Maintenance and Service
Maintenance and Cleaning
- Always unplug the tool before any maintenance.
- Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean for safe and efficient work.
Repairs should be carried out by an authorized Stayer service center.
Disposal
Dispose of packaging, tools, and accessories in an environmentally friendly manner through recycling.
For EC countries: Do not dispose of power tools with household waste. Follow European Directive 2002/96/EC for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) for separate collection and environmentally correct disposal.
