This guide provides essential information for setting up and using your Garmin Vieo RV 851/1051 device.

Display Overview
The device features a touchscreen display. Key components include:
- 1. Microphone: For voice recognition.
- 2. Volume Control: Adjusts audio volume.
- 3. Power Key: Turns the system on/off or puts it in standby mode.
- 4. micro USB Port: For power and data transfer.
- 5. microSD Card Slot: For memory expansion.
- 6. Magnetic Mount Interface: Connects to the dock with a 14-pin connector.
- 7. Speaker: For audio output.
Dock Overview
The magnetic dock charges the display and enables docked mode for the user interface. Controls on the dock include:
- Power: Press for standby, hold to turn on/off.
- Volume Up/Down: Adjusts volume.
- Mute: Silences audio output.
- Track Controls: Skip to previous/next track, rewind/fast-forward.
- Source Controls (AM/FM/SiriusXM/Aux): Tune stations, change channels, adjust gain.
Docking the Display: Align the bottom edge of the display with the dock and tilt until magnets engage. A battery icon in the status bar shows the charge level.
Undocking the Display: Tilt the display towards you, pressing the bottom edge inward while pulling the top edge towards you. This keeps the bottom edge seated while releasing the magnet.
Live Services, Traffic, and Smartphone Features
The Garmin Drive app enhances your device with:
- Live Traffic Data: Real-time traffic information including incidents, delays, construction, and road closures.
- Weather Information: Real-time weather forecasts, road conditions, and weather radar.
- Smart Notifications: Displays phone notifications and messages (language dependent).
- Send Locations to Device: Transfer locations from your smartphone to the navigation device.
Pairing with Your Smartphone
- Install the Garmin Drive app on your smartphone.
- Turn on your Vieo RV 851/1051 and place it within 3 m (10 ft) of your smartphone.
- Open the Garmin Drive app on your phone.
- Follow on-screen instructions to sign in to a Garmin account and complete pairing.
Tips After Pairing: Devices connect automatically after initial pairing. The device attempts to connect to the last paired phone.
Pairing Additional Bluetooth Devices
- Place devices within 10 m (33 ft).
- Enable Bluetooth on your device.
- Enable Bluetooth on the other device and make it discoverable.
- On your device, navigate to Settings > Bluetooth.
- Select your headset or phone from the list.
- Select Pair if prompted.
Connecting a Compatible Bluetooth Device
Play media or make hands-free calls via Bluetooth to the stereo dock.
- In the music app, select the BT source.
- Make the stereo discoverable (visible for 2 minutes).
- Enable Bluetooth on the compatible device.
- Bring the compatible device within 10 m (33 ft).
- Search for Bluetooth devices on the compatible device.
- Select the stereo from the list.
- Follow on-screen instructions to pair and connect.
Note: A pairing code may be requested on the Bluetooth device.
Hands-Free Calling
Connect your phone or headset via Bluetooth for hands-free operation. Check compatibility at www.garmin.com/bluetooth.
- Placing a Call: Select the call icon, then dial a number, select from call logs, or choose a contact.
- Receiving a Call: Select Answer or Decline.
Playing Media
The dock acts as the stereo, and the display as the remote control.
- From the home screen media controls, select a source.
- Select a source (e.g., FM, AM, iPod, MTP, USB).
- Select a song or station as needed.
Playing Media from a USB Device: Connect a USB device to the vehicle's USB port and select the appropriate source (iPod, MTP, or USB).
Changing the Radio Station
- Select a source (e.g., FM).
- Use the tuning modes (Auto, Manual, Preset) to find stations.
- Use the seek buttons (◀/▶) to tune to the station. Hold for faster tuning.
TIP: You can also change stations using the media controls on the home screen or dock.
SiriusXM Satellite Radio
SiriusXM offers over 140 channels of music, sports, news, and entertainment. A SiriusXM Vehicle Tuner and subscription are required. Visit www.siriusxm.com for more information.
Navigation
Finding a Location by Category
- Select the search icon (Q).
- Select a category or Categories.
- Select a subcategory if necessary.
- Select a location.
Finding an Address
NOTE: Step order may vary based on map data.
- Select the search icon (Q).
- Optionally, select a location to search near a different city or area.
- Select Address.
- Follow on-screen instructions to enter address details.
- Select the desired address.
Changing the Search Area
By default, searches are near your current location. You can also search near your destination, another city, or along your active route.
- Select the search icon (Q).
- Select the search area option.
- Select an option.
Starting a Route
- Select the search icon (Q) and search for a location.
- Select the location.
- Select Go!.
Your Route on the Map
The device provides voice prompts and on-map information for guidance. Instructions for your next turn, exit, or action appear at the top of the map.
- 1. Distance to next action.
- 2. Next action: Indicates the next turn, exit, or action, and the lane to use.
- 3. Street/Exit Name: Name of the street or exit associated with the next action.
- 4. Route Highlighted: The route is shown on the map.
- 5. Next Action Indicator: Arrows show upcoming actions.
- 6. Map Tool Shortcuts.
- 7. Map Tools: Access tools for more route and surrounding information.
- 8. Data Fields: Touch to change displayed information.
- 9. Vehicle Speed.
Adding a Location to Your Route
You must be navigating a route to add locations.
- On the map, select > Q.
- Search for a location.
- Select the location.
- Select Go!.
- Choose an option:
- Add as Next Stop
- Add as Last Stop
- Add to Active Route
The device recalculates the route to include the added location.
Stopping a Route
On the map, select : > Stop.

- In the settings menu, scroll to the bottom.
- Select Device > Regulatory Information.
