Product Description
The X2Prog is a Module Programmer designed to read, write, and modify EEPROM and MCU chip data via the BOOT method. It is suitable for professional vehicle tuners and mechanics, offering functionalities such as module cloning, modification, or replacement for ECUs, BCMs, BMS, dashboards, and other automotive modules. The X2Prog is also compatible with other expansion modules from Xtooltech, enabling advanced functions like BENCH programming and transponder coding.
Product View
The X2Prog device features several key components:
- ① DB26 Port: Used for connecting cables or wiring harnesses.
- ② Indicators:
- 5V (Red / Left): Indicates 5V power input.
- Communication (Green / Middle): Flashes during device communication.
- 12V (Red / Right): Indicates 12V power input.
- ③ ④ Expansion Ports: Used for connecting other expansion modules (e.g., 32/48PIN).
- ⑤ 12V DC Power Port: Connects to a 12V power supply when needed.
- USB Type-C Port: Connects to XTool devices or a PC.

Visual representation of the device shows its front, side, top, and back views, highlighting the ports and indicators.
Device Requirements
- XTool Devices: APP version V5.0.0 or higher.
- PC: Windows 7 or higher, with 2GB RAM.
Device Connection
The X2Prog can be connected in two primary ways:
- Connect to XTool device: The X2Prog connects to an XTool diagnostic device (e.g., a tablet or display) via a cable.
- Connect to PC: The X2Prog connects to a computer via a USB Type-C cable.
Expansion & Cable Connection
The X2Prog supports various expansion modules and cables for enhanced functionality. To install expansion modules, connect them directly to the X2Prog using the expansion ports (32/48PIN) or the DB26 port. Multiple modules can be connected simultaneously. The specific modules required depend on the operation being performed.
Diagrams illustrate connections between the X2Prog, Expansion A, Expansion B, and Cable C, showing how these components interface.
How to Read & Write EEPROM
EEPROM data can be accessed using different methods:
- Via EEPROM Board:
This method requires the EEPROM chip to be removed from the ECU and soldered onto the dedicated EEPROM board, which is typically included in the X2Prog standard pack. The EEPROM board is then connected to the X2Prog.
Diagram: Shows an EEPROM chip desoldered from an ECU, soldered onto an EEPROM board, and connected to the X2Prog.
- Via other expansion modules:
Alternative methods involve using specific expansion modules. Users should refer to the diagrams provided within the XTool application for detailed connection instructions for various chips and modules.

How to Read & Write MCUs
MCU data can be accessed using the following methods:
- BOOT Method:
For this method, a wiring harness must be soldered to the ECU board according to the specific wiring diagram. A 12V power supply must also be connected to the X2Prog.
Diagram: Shows an ECU with a soldered wiring harness connected to the X2Prog, powered by a 12V supply.
- BENCH Expansion Method:
In this method, the wiring harness is plugged directly into the ECU port as per the wiring diagram. A 12V power supply is required for the X2Prog.
