Important Safety Information
Never, under any circumstances, look directly at the Sun, another bright source of light or at a laser through this device, as this may cause PERMANENT RETINAL DAMAGE and may lead to BLINDNESS. White LEDs are very bright; do not look at them as this may cause permanent damage to your vision.
Take necessary precautions when using the device with children or others who have not read or who do not fully understand these instructions.
Microscope Parts
The microscope consists of the following parts:
- 1 Coarse focus knob: Used for initial focusing.
- 2 Focus lock knob: Locks the focus position.
- 3 Fine focus knob: Used for precise and sharp focusing.
- 4 Mount arm locking knob: Secures the mount arm.
- 5 Locking screw: Secures the microscope in the clamp.
- 6 Mount locking ring: Attaches the microscope to the mount.
- 7 Shutter button: Captures images or starts/stops video recording (works in MS Windows only).
- 8 Brightness adjustment wheel: Controls the LED illumination brightness.
- 9 USB cable: Connects the microscope to a computer.
- 10 Stage: Platform for placing specimens.

Microscope Assembly
Follow these steps to assemble the microscope:
- Remove the microscope and all accessories from the package.
- Place the stage on a stable surface.
- Attach the mount locking ring (6) to the metal tube of the mount.
- Insert the metal tube into the opening on the stage and lock it in place with the ring (6).
- Insert the microscope into the clamp on the mount arm and tighten the locking screw (5).
- Tighten the locking knob (4) to lock the mount arm in place.
- Place a specimen on the stage.
- Use the coarse focus knob (1) to focus your view.
- Use the fine focus knob (3) for maximum precision and sharpness.
- Upon focusing your view, tighten the focus lock knob (2) to lock the results.
MicroCapture Pro Software
To use the software:
- Insert the installation CD into your CD drive. The Main Menu window will be displayed.
- Click "Install MicroCapture Pro" to install the application and follow the on-screen instructions.
- The installation CD also contains a copy of this User Guide.
- Connect the microscope to your PC with a USB cable.
- Run the MicroCapture Pro application. A pop-up message will warn you if the microscope is not connected to the PC.
Software Functions
The MicroCapture Pro software allows you to:
- Capture an image: Click the corresponding icon on the toolbar or select "Photo" from the Capture menu.
- Record a video: Click the corresponding icon on the toolbar or select "Video" from the Capture menu.
- Sequence capture: Set the time to begin capturing images or videos, the interval between them, video duration, and the number of images or videos to be captured.
- Full screen mode: To exit full screen mode, press Esc on your keyboard or double-click anywhere on the screen.
File and Options Menus
File Menu:
- Photos Directory: Set a directory for captured images.
- Videos Directory: Set a directory for recorded videos.
Options Menu:
- Resolution: Set image resolution.
- Date/Time: Hide or display date and time of capture during preview.
- Language: Change the language of the user interface.
- Crossing: Hide or display a grid on images.
- Full screen mode: Go full screen.
Capture Menu:
- Photo: Capture an image.
- Video: Record a video.
Toolbar Actions
Common actions available via toolbar icons:

Calibration
Calibrating the microscope ensures accurate measurements.
- Turn the grid display on via Options > Crossing.
- Place the calibration scale on the stage and focus the view.
- Ensure the vertical axis of the grid is parallel to the scale divisions.
- Capture an image. Double-click the thumbnail to open it in a separate window.
- Click the calibration icon on the toolbar to begin.
- Choose two points on the image with known distance between them.
- Enter the known distance in the "Actual dimension" field in the dialog window.
- The application will calculate the magnification. Click OK.
Note: Chosen points should form a horizontal line.
Calibration results can be checked using the "Any Angle Line" tool.
Recalibration
Recalibration is necessary if magnification or focus changes.
- Click the calibration icon and select "Reset picture magnification".
- Repeat the calibration process.
- Change magnification and capture images.
- Open an image thumbnail and click the calibration icon.
- Select "Set picture magnification" and enter the current magnification. Click OK.
- To use the same magnification for future captures, select "Set capture magnification".
Measurements
Calibrate the system before taking measurements.
- Any Angle Line: Draw a line by clicking and dragging the left mouse button.
- Continuous Line: Draw a curve to measure its length.
- Radius Circle: Draw a line to automatically calculate radius, circumference, and area.
- Diameter Circle: Draw a line to automatically calculate diameter, circumference, and area.
- Three Points Angle: Place three points to automatically calculate the angle.
Draw and Text
Add drawings and textboxes to your images using the MicroCapture Pro software.
- Open an image, click the Pencil icon ✏️ on the toolbar.
- Select a tool from the dropdown menu to draw.
- Click the TT icon to edit font type and color for textboxes.
Working with the Application for Mac OS Users
For Mac OS users:
- Copy the "MicroCapture Pro" file from the installation CD's "mac" folder to your desktop.
- Connect the microscope via USB cable.
- Run the MicroCapture Pro application by double-clicking its icon.
- The main window displays a magnified image.
- Use the "Options" menu to select "Preview Size" for image resolution (standard 640x480).
- Use "Options" > "Date/Time" to show or hide capture date and time.
- Capture images by clicking the Photo icon or selecting "Photo" from the Capture menu.
- Record videos by clicking the Video icon or selecting "Video" from the Capture menu.
Note: The camcorder icon turns red during recording. Click it again to stop.
Care and Maintenance
Proper care ensures the longevity and safety of the microscope:
- Never look directly at the Sun, bright light sources, or lasers.
- Avoid looking directly at the white LEDs, as they are very bright.
- Do not disassemble the device yourself. Contact a specialized service center for repairs or cleaning.
- Protect the device from sudden impacts and excessive mechanical force.
- Do not apply excessive pressure when adjusting focus or overtighten locking screws.
- Do not touch optical surfaces with fingers.
- Use only Levenhuk-approved cleaning wipes and tools for exterior cleaning.
- For lens cleaning, blow off or brush away abrasive particles like sand. Do not wipe them.
- Avoid prolonged use or leaving the device in direct sunlight.
- Keep the device away from water and high humidity.
- Always replace the dust cover after use to protect it from dust and stains.
- Store objective lenses and eyepieces separately if the microscope is not used for extended periods.
- Store the device in a dry, cool place, away from hazardous chemicals, heaters, and open fire.
- Always close the application before disconnecting the microscope from your PC to avoid data loss or damage.
- Wait for the illumination to turn off completely before disconnecting.
- Seek medical advice immediately if a small part or battery is swallowed.
Battery Safety Instructions
Follow these guidelines for safe battery usage:
- Always use the correct size and type of batteries.
- Replace all batteries at the same time; do not mix old and new, or different types.
- Clean battery contacts and device contacts before installation.
- Ensure correct polarity (+ and -) when installing batteries.
- Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.
- Remove used batteries promptly.
- Never attempt to recharge primary batteries (risk of leakage, fire, or explosion).
- Never short-circuit batteries (risk of overheating, leakage, or explosion).
- Never heat batteries to revive them.
- Switch off devices after use.
- Keep batteries out of reach of children.

Levenhuk accessories are warranted for six months from the date of retail purchase.
Levenhuk will repair or replace defective products or parts. Proof of purchase is required.
This warranty does not cover consumable parts such as bulbs or batteries.
