We cannot accept any liability for damage or accidents which arise due to a failure to follow these instructions and the safety instructions. Explanation of the symbols used (see Fig. 12) 1. Danger! - Read the operating instructions to reduce the risk of injury. 2. Caution! Wear ear-muffs. The impact of noi- se can cause damage to hearing. 3. Caution! Wear a breathing mask. Dust which is injurious to health can be generated when working on wood and other materials. Never use the device to work on any materials containing asbestos! 4. Caution! Wear safety goggles. If parts are missing, please contact our service center or the sales outlet where you made your purchase at the latest within 5 working days after purchasing the product and upon presentation of a valid bill of purchase. Also, refer to the warranty table in the service information at the end of the operating instructions. · Open the packaging and take out the equip- ment with care. · Remove the packaging material and any packaging and/or transportation braces (if available). · Check to see if all items are supplied. · Inspect the equipment and accessories for transport damage. · If possible, please keep the packaging until the end of the guarantee period. 1. Proper use The drywall power sander is intended for sanding off plaster-nished drywalls, ceilings and interior masonry, and for removing wall-paper residues, paint, coverings, adhesive residues and loose plaster. It can also be used for sanding off oors. The equipment is to be used only for its prescribed purpose. Any other use is deemed to be a case of misuse. Please note that our equipment has not been designed for use in commercial, trade or industrial applications. Handle Vibration emission value ah = 2.069 m/s2 K uncertainty = 1.5 m/s2 The specied vibration value was established in accordance with a standardized testing method. It may change according to how the electric equipment is used and may exceed the specied value in exceptional circumstances. The specied vibration value can be used to compare the equipment with other electric power tools. The specied vibration value can be used for initial assessment of a harmful effect. Keep the noise emissions and vibrations to a minimum. · Only use appliances which are in perfect wor- king order. · Service and clean the appliance regularly. · Adapt your working style to suit the appliance. · Do not overload the appliance. · Have the appliance serviced whenever ne- cessary. · Switch the appliance off when it is not in use. Caution! Residual risks Even if you use this electric power tool in accordance with instructions, certain residual risks cannot be rules out. The following hazards may arise in connection with the equipment's construction and layout: 1. Lung damage if no suitable protective dust mask is used. 2. Damage to hearing if no suitable ear protec- tion is used. 3. Health damage caused by hand-arm vib- rations if the equipment is used over a prolonged period or is not properly guided and maintained. 5. Before starting the equipment Before you connect the equipment to the mains supply make sure that the data on the rating plate are identical to the mains data. Warning! Always pull the power plug before making adjustments to the equipment. 5.1 Dust extraction Important! Connect the adapter to a dust extraction system or a vacuum cleaner. This will provide excellent extraction of chips and dust. 5.1.1 Connecting the dust extractor adapter for an external dust extraction system (Fig. 2 / Item 10) 1. Push the dust extractor adapter (10) onto the dust extractor connection (a) as shown in Fig. 2 and lock it by twisting clockwise. 2. Now connect a suitable dust extraction system (b) to the dust extractor adapter (10). Anl_TC_DWS_225_SPK13.indb 14 - 14 - 20.04.2023 15:22:00 GB 5.1.2 Connecting the dust extractor hose (Fig. 4 / Item 12) 1. Push the dust extractor hose (12) onto the dust extractor connection (a) as shown in Fig. 4 and lock it by twisting clockwise. 2. Extraction takes place directly through the abrasive paper and the grinding/sanding disk (8) into the dust bag (11). 5.1.3 Emptying and cleaning the dust bag (Figs. 5/6 / Item 11) To empty the dust bag (11), pull the clips (c) off the emptying opening (Fig. 5). You can now empty and clean the dust bag (11) via the generously sized opening (Fig. 6). When nished with the emptying and cleaning you must push the clips (c) back into place on the emptying opening (Fig. 5). Then the dust bag can be used again. No more steps are required. Caution: For health safety reasons it is imperative that you use a dust extractor. 5.2 Attaching the abrasive paper (Fig. 7) The hook-and-loop fastener enables easy changing of the abrasive paper. Make sure that the vacuum extraction holes on the abrasive paper and the sanding disk are aligned. 5.3 Adjusting the additional handle (Fig. 8 / item 4) You can turn the additional handle (4) into the most comfortable position for you. · Undo the two fastening screws for the additio- nal handle (5). · Adjust the additional handle (4). · Re-tighten the two fastening screws for the additional handle (5). Switching off: Press the On/Off switch (1) briey and then release it. 6.2 Speed controller (Fig. 9/ item 3) You can select the speed by turning the speed controller (3). Plus direction: Higher speed Minus direction: Lower speed 6.3 Working close to edges (Fig. 10-11 / item 6) To work close to edges and remove the side part (6) as shown in Fig. 10. Now you can run the tool straight along the edge of a wall. (See Fig. 11) 6.4 Working with the drywall power sander · Place the whole surface area of the sanding head on the material. · Switch on the machine and move it with gentle pressure over the ,,workpiece", making circular or transverse and linear movements. · Use a coarse grit for coarse sanding and a finer grit for finish sanding. You can find the best grit size for the job by carrying out san- ding tests. Caution! The dusts which are formed while the equipment is being used may be a health hazard: · Always wear safety goggles and a dust mask during sanding work. · All persons who work with the equipment or enter the workplace must wear a protective dust mask. · Eating, drinking and smoking are prohibited at the workplace. · Paints containing lead are not allowed to be used! 6. Operation 6.1 On/Off switch (Fig. 9 / item 1) Switching on: Press the On/Off switch (1). Continuous operation: Lock the On/Off switch (1) in place by pressing the locking button (2). 7. Replacing the power cable Danger! If the power cable for this equipment is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or its after-sales service or similarly trained personnel to avoid danger. Always pull out the mains power plug before starting any cleaning work. 8.1 Cleaning · Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it with compressed air at low pressure. · We recommend that you clean the device immediately each time you have finished using it. · Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these could attack the plastic parts of the equipment. Ensure that no water can seep into the device. The ingress of water into an electric tool increases the risk of an electric shock. 9. Disposal and recycling The equipment is supplied in packaging to prevent it from being damaged in transit. The raw materials in this packaging can be reused or recycled. The equipment and its accessories are made of various types of material, such as metal and plastic. Never place defective equipment in your household refuse. The equipment should be taken to a suitable collection center for proper disposal. If you do not know the whereabouts of such a collection point, you should ask in your local council offices. 10. Storage Store the equipment and accessories in a dark and dry place at above freezing temperature. The ideal storage temperature is between 5 and 30 °C. Store the electric tool in its original packaging. 8.2 Carbon brushes In case of excessive sparking, have the carbon brushes checked only by a qualied electrician. Danger! To comply with European Directive 2012/19/EC concerning old electric and electronic equipment and its implementation in national laws, old electric power tools have to be separated from other waste and disposed of in an environment-friendly fashion, e.g. by taking to a recycling depot. Recycling alternative to the return request: As an alternative to returning the equipment to the manufacturer, the owner of the electrical equipment must make sure that the equipment is properly disposed of if he no longer wants to keep the equipment. The old equipment can be returned to a suitable collection point that will dispose of the equipment in accordance with the national recycling and waste disposal regulations. This does not apply to any accessories or aids without electrical components supplied with the old equipment. Please note that batteries and lamps (e.g. light bulbs) must be removed from the tool before it is disposed of.
