Your ONE FOR ALL 5 requires 2 new "AA/LR6" batteries.
The ONE FOR ALL 5 is designed to operate your Video and Audio equipment using infrared signals, including devices operating over 100 kHz. It can control up to five devices. A unique feature is the "Learning" function, which allows you to customize original remote control functions onto the ONE FOR ALL 5 keypad.
The following pages provide step-by-step instructions to customize the ONE FOR ALL 5 for your home entertainment needs.

Installing the Batteries
Your ONE FOR ALL 5 requires 2 new "AA/LR6" alkaline batteries.
- Remove the battery cover from the back by pressing down on the tab.
- Match the batteries to the + and - marks inside the battery case and insert them.
- Press the battery cover back into place.
Important notes:
- A label inside the battery compartment door is provided for writing Set-Up codes.
- Do not use rechargeable batteries.
- Set-up codes and advanced programming are retained when changing batteries.
The Keypad
Refer to the picture of the ONE FOR ALL 5 remote on page 3 for key identification.
- 1. MAGIC Key:
- Used for setup and accessing special functions.
- 2. MENU Key:
- Controls the same function as on the original remote; may also access Surround mode.
- 3. POWER Key:
- Controls the same function as on the original remote.
- 4. LCD:
- Liquid Crystal Display showing a 12 or 24 hour clock.
- 5. Lite Key:
- Lights up the display.
- 6. SEL and SET Keys:
- Used for setting clock functions.
- 7. Backlit Device Keys (TV, VCR, SAT, CD, AUD):
- Select the device to be controlled. The selected key lights up.
- 8. Number Keys (0-9, 10, 20/AV):
- Function like original remote keys. The "-/--" symbol is accessed via the "10" key, and the "20" key function is under the "AV" key.
- 9. AV Key:
- Functions as on the original remote. Can be used for "EXIT" during Menu operations. In VCR mode, it functions as TV/VCR.
- 10. Directional Keys:
- Navigate menus and Surround Sound modes.
- 11. Programme (Channel) +/- Keys:
- Operate as on the original remote.
- 12. Mute Key:
- Functions as on the original remote. Also used for Auto Scan and as "OK/Enter" in menus.
- 13. Volume +/- Keys:
- Operate as on the original remote.
- 14. Video Recorder Keys:
- Operate Video Recorder functions. The Record key requires a double press to start recording. SP/LP controls tape speed, AUTO controls tracking.
- 15. Teletext and Fastext Keys:
- The top row of VCR keys operate Teletext functions. The symbols below indicate Teletext functions. TEXT ON activates Teletext mode; TEXT OFF returns to normal viewing. HOLD/STOP pauses page changes. EXPAND enlarges Teletext pages. The red, green, yellow, and blue keys (bottom row of VCR keys) access Fastext functions.

Setting the Clock
After battery installation, the real time mode is displayed.
- Press SET 4 times.
- Adjust month using SEL.
- Press SET.
- Set day using SEL.
- Press SET to enter hour adjustment.
- Adjust hour using SEL.
- Press SET.
- Adjust minutes using SEL.
- Press SET, then SEL to exit clock adjustment.
The clock format can be 12-hour (A.M./P.M.) or 24-hour. Press SEL during step 5 to toggle between formats.
Setting the Alarm
- Press SET once. The alarm time will blink.
- Press SET again.
- Use SEL to set the alarm hour.
- Press SET.
- Set alarm minutes using SEL.
- Press SET once to exit alarm adjustment.
Notice: The alarm time format updates automatically with the real time format. Press SET to stop the alarm when it sounds.
Turning the Alarm/Chime On and Off
- Press SET once. The alarm time will blink.
- Use SEL to turn the chime and alarm on or off.
- Press SET 3 times to exit.
Installation: Setting Up Your Devices
Before you start, read these instructions carefully.
Example: To set up the ONE FOR ALL 5 for your television:
- Find the code for your device in the Code list (sorted by device type and brand). Use the most popular code first. Ensure your device is switched ON (not standby).
- Press the TV key on the ONE FOR ALL 5 for the device you wish to set up.
- Press and hold MAGIC until the device key blinks twice.
- Enter the four-digit device code using the number keys. The device key will blink twice.
- Aim the ONE FOR ALL 5 at your device and press POWER. If your device switches off, the ONE FOR ALL 5 is ready.
- Turn your device back on and test all functions. If not working correctly, repeat steps 1-5 with another code for your brand.
- If your device does not respond, try all codes for your brand. If none work, or your brand is not listed, use the search method (page 8).
- Write your code in the provided boxes for future reference.
Important notes:
- Some codes are similar; try another if one doesn't work.
- If the original remote lacks a POWER key, use PLAY instead.
- Press the correct device key before operating.
- Only one device can be assigned per device key. For multi-device remotes, set up each device separately.
Devices can be found under the following keys:
- Television: TV
- Satellite/Cable Converter: SAT
- Audio Amplifier/Tuner/Miscellaneous Audio: AUD
- Video/DVD: VCR
- CD/Mini Disc: CD

The Search Method
If your device doesn't respond to the ONE FOR ALL 5 after trying all listed codes for your brand, use the Search Method. This method scans all codes in the remote's memory.
Example: To search for your TV code:
- Switch your TV on (not standby) and aim the ONE FOR ALL 5 at it.
- Press the TV key.
- Press and hold MAGIC until the TV key blinks twice.
- Press 9 9 1. The TV key blinks twice.
- Slowly alternate between TV and POWER until your TV turns off. This may take up to 200 presses. Keep the remote aimed at the TV.
- As soon as the TV turns off, press MAGIC to store the code.
Your ONE FOR ALL remote should now operate your device. Turn the device back on and test functions. If some commands don't work, repeat the search method.
Important notes:
- To search for other devices, press the appropriate device key instead of TV in steps 2 and 5.
- If the original remote lacks a POWER key, use PLAY instead of POWER in step 5.
To retrieve your Set-Up Code:
- Press the TV key.
- Press and hold MAGIC until the TV key blinks twice.
- Press 9 9 0. The TV key blinks twice.
- For each digit of the code, press 1 (for digit 1), 2 (for digit 2), 3 (for digit 3), 4 (for digit 4) and count the red blinks. Zero blinks indicate '0'.
Record your code in the battery compartment and on page 9.
Important note: To retrieve codes for other devices, press the appropriate device key in step 1.
Changing a Device Key
You can change any device key's function.
Example 1: Program a second TV on the AUD key:
- Press MAGIC, then TV, then AUD. The AUD key becomes a second TV key.
- Enter the SET-UP code for the second TV using MAGIC and the 4-digit code.
(*) Hold MAGIC until the device key blinks twice.
(**) The device key blinks twice.
Example 2: Program a second VCR on the CD key:
- Press MAGIC, then VCR, then CD. The CD key becomes a second VCR key.
- Enter the SET-UP code for the second VCR using MAGIC and the 4-digit code.
Resetting a Device Key:
Example: To reset the AUD key:
- Press MAGIC, then AUD, then AUD again.
(*) Hold MAGIC until the device key blinks twice.
(**) The device key blinks twice.

Advanced Features
Colour and Brightness
The ONE FOR ALL may control your TV's colour and brightness settings, depending on your original remote's functions.
- Colour (+): Press and release MAGIC, then hold Volume (+).
- Colour (-): Press and release MAGIC, then hold Volume (-).
- Brightness (+): Press and release MAGIC, then hold Channel (+).
- Brightness (-): Press and release MAGIC, then hold Channel (-).
Note: You have 5 seconds to press the Volume or Channel keys after pressing MAGIC.
Volume Punch-Through
This feature allows you to adjust TV volume while using other devices without switching to the TV device key first.

To punch through to TV Volume (VCR or SAT mode): MAGIC* 99 3 TV key.
To punch through to AMP/TUN Volume (CD mode): MAGIC* 99 3 AUD key.
To cancel: MAGIC* 993 Volume(+) (device key blinks four times).
* Hold MAGIC until the device key blinks twice.
Auto Scan
The Auto Scan function scans through available programmes on your device.
Example: To scan TV programmes:
- Aim the ONE FOR ALL 5 at your TV. Press the TV key. Press and release MAGIC, then press MUTE.
- The remote will scan through programmes, stopping at each for approx. 3 seconds. Keep the remote aimed at the TV.
Press any key to stop Auto Scan. Press MAGIC then MUTE again to resume scanning.
Important note: Auto Scan may not work with devices that lacked programme +/- keys on their original remote.
Favourite Programme Scan
Scan through up to 10 favourite programmes.
To set up favourite programmes for your TV:
- Press and release the ONE FOR ALL 5's TV key.
- Hold MAGIC until the TV key blinks twice.
- Press 9 9 6.
- Enter the programme number (e.g., 05 for programme 5), then press and release MAGIC.
- Enter the next programme number and press MAGIC.
- Continue for up to 10 favourite programmes. Hold MAGIC until the TV key blinks twice after the last entry.
To scan, press TV, MAGIC, then MUTE. Press any key to stop. Press MAGIC then MUTE to continue.
Notes:
- Follow steps 1-8 for other devices, substituting the appropriate device key (VCR, SAT, CD, AUD).
- Favourite Programme Scan works for only one device at a time.
To clear favourite programmes:
- Press the device key.
- Hold MAGIC until the device key blinks twice.
- Press 9 9 6.
- Press MAGIC until the device key blinks twice. Auto Scan will now function with MAGIC and MUTE keys.
Device Sleeptimer
Access your TV or Satellite's built-in Sleeptimer function.
- Ensure your TV or Satellite is switched on.
- Press the device key (TV or SAT).
- Aim the remote at the device and press MAGIC, then POWER. The Sleeptimer should activate.
To increase the timer, press POWER again within 5 seconds. To deactivate, repeat steps 1-3, continuing to press POWER until the timer shows zero minutes.
Important note: Sleeptimer access may vary depending on the original remote's functions.
ONE FOR ALL Sleeptimer
Install the ONE FOR ALL Sleeptimer if your device lacks this function.
- Press the device key (TV, SAT, CD, or AUD).
- Press and hold MAGIC until the device key blinks twice.
- Press 970. The device key blinks twice.
Setting the ONE FOR ALL Sleeptimer:
- Set timer for 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes. Ensure the device is switched on.
- Press the device key (TV, SAT, CD, or AUD).
- Press and release MAGIC, then press POWER. The device key blinks once (15 minutes). Press POWER within 5 seconds to increase timer (up to 60 minutes).
When the timer elapses, the ONE FOR ALL will send a POWER command to turn off the device.
Important notes:
- The device key blinks every 15 seconds in Sleeptimer mode.
- Press any key to deactivate the Sleeptimer.
- Steps 1-3 only need to be done once.
- To switch back to Device Sleeptimer, repeat steps 1-3. The device key will blink 4 times.
- The remote must be pointed at the device for the ONE FOR ALL Sleeptimer to work.
- The ONE FOR ALL Sleeptimer can be set for only one device at a time.
Macros
Program a sequence of commands to a single button press.
Example: Set up a Macro to turn off TV, VCR, and Satellite on the 'A' key:
- Press and hold MAGIC until the device key blinks twice.
- Press 9 9 5.
- Press the 'A' key.
- Press TV, POWER, VCR, POWER, SAT, POWER.
- Press and hold MAGIC until the device key blinks twice to store the Macro.
Pressing 'A' will now turn off your TV, VCR, and Satellite.
To erase a Macro: MAGIC* 995 A key MAGIC*
* Hold MAGIC until the device key blinks twice.
Note: Each Macro can consist of up to 15 key strokes.
Shifted Macros
Install a Shifted Macro on any key except device keys, MAGIC, or NUMBER keys.
To install, follow steps 1-8 on the previous page. In step 5, press MAGIC once before pressing the key for the learned function.
To access: Press MAGIC, then the key with the Shifted Macro.
To erase a Shifted Macro: MAGIC* 995 MAGIC POWER key MAGIC*
* Hold MAGIC until the device key blinks twice.
Notes:
- Program Macros on unused keys.
- Macros work regardless of the device mode.
- The Record key cannot be used for Macros due to the double-press safety feature.
- Functions requiring a long press on the original remote may not work in a Macro.
- Shifted Macros on Mute, Channel, or Volume keys will sacrifice Scan and Colour/Brightness functions.
The Learning Feature
Copy functions from your original remote to the ONE FOR ALL 5.
Before you start: Ensure your original remote works and neither remote is pointed at the device.
Example: Copy "mono/stereo" from TV remote to 'A' key:
- Place remotes facing each other, 2-5 cm apart.
- Press and hold MAGIC until the device key blinks twice.
- Press 975 (device key blinks twice).
- Press the device key (e.g., TV) on the ONE FOR ALL 5.
- Press the 'A' key on the ONE FOR ALL 5 (device key flashes rapidly).
- Press and hold the function key on the original remote until the ONE FOR ALL device key blinks twice.
- Repeat steps 5-6 for other functions in the same mode.
- Press and hold MAGIC until the device key blinks twice to exit learning mode.
Learned functions are mode-specific. Press the appropriate device key first.
Shifted Learning
Learn functions without sacrificing original ONE FOR ALL functions. Use "custom keys" or other keys (except device, MAGIC, Number keys).
To install: Follow steps 1-8 on the previous page. In step 5, press MAGIC once before pressing the target key.
To access: Press MAGIC, then the key with the learned function.
To delete a learned function:
- Press and hold MAGIC until the device key blinks twice.
- Press 9 7 6 (device key blinks twice).
- Press the device key where the function is to be deleted.
- Press the learned key twice (device key blinks twice).
Repeat steps 1-4 to delete other functions. To delete all learned functions across all modes, press MAGIC until the device key blinks twice, then press 9 8 0 (device key blinks four times).
Notes:
- Allow approx. 10 seconds per step; gaps longer than 10 seconds require restarting from step 2.
- Learning functions on non-custom keys shifts the original ONE FOR ALL function.
- Shifted Learning on Mute, Channel, or Volume keys sacrifices Scan and Colour/Brightness.
- The ONE FOR ALL 5 can learn approx. 25 functions.
- Learned functions can be overwritten.
- Avoid direct sunlight or incandescent lights during learning. Use fresh batteries. Learned functions are retained after battery changes.
Key Magic®
Assign functions without their own key on the ONE FOR ALL keypad using function codes.
Request function codes from customer service via phone, letter, fax, or email, providing the 4-digit set-up code and the function's original label.

Programming a function:
- Press the device key (TV, VCR, SAT, CD, AUD).
- Press and hold MAGIC until the device key blinks twice.
- Press 9 9 4 (device key blinks twice).
- Press MAGIC once.
- Enter the 3-digit function code.
- Press the key to assign the function to (device key blinks twice).
Important notes:
- Press the device key first to access programmed functions.
- Key Magic can be assigned to any key EXCEPT device, MAGIC, or Mute keys.
- Custom Keys are ideal for Key Magic.
- Record extended function codes below for reference.

Telephone Upgradable Technology
The ONE FOR ALL 5 allows new codes to be added via telephone using magnetic coupling technology. This ensures the remote never becomes obsolete.
To upgrade:
- Note your device's brand and model numbers.
- Call the consumer help-line and specify the devices you want to add.
- Hold the ONE FOR ALL 5 to your telephone's speaker as instructed by the customer service agent.
Note: Cordless, speaker, and mobile telephones are not recommended for this process.
- Stay on the line to confirm the upgrade is working correctly and ask any questions.
