Port Descriptions:
- Gigabit Hi-PoE Port: Used for Hi-PoE PTZ cameras connection, max power is 90 W.
- Gigabit PoE Port: Used for other PoE devices connection via network cables.
- Gigabit RJ45 Port: Used for devices connection via network cables.
- Gigabit SFP Fiber Optical Port: Used for devices connection via optical fiber when plugged into an optical module.
DIP Switch Modes:
- Extend: The last 2 PoE ports of DS-3E0505/10HP and the last 4 of DS-3E0520/28HP support network transmission up to 300 meters.
- Isolation: Data transmission of each port is isolated to improve network security.
- PoE Watchdog: Auto-detects and restarts unresponsive cameras.
Device Connection
Connect your devices according to your networking requirements. The diagram illustrates a typical connection for the DS-3E0510HP series switch.
Connection Types:
- Data (Blue line)
- Power+Data (PoE) (Purple line)
- Optical Fiber (Grey line with arrows)
Example Scenario: A switch connected to an NVR, a Control Center via the Internet, an 802.3bt Hi-PoE PTZ camera, a Wireless AP, and a PoE VoIP Phone. The connection supports up to 300 meters for Hi-PoE devices and features 6 KV Surge Protection.
Note: DS-3E0505HP series switches do not have fiber optical ports.
Device Installation
Prerequisites:
- Ensure the rack or desktop is stable and firm.
- The room must be well-ventilated with at least 10 cm clearance on all sides for cooling.
- Maintain at least 1.5 cm vertical distance between switches when installing in a rack.
DS-3E0505/10HP Installation:
These switches support desktop and wall-mounted installation. For wall mounting, follow the provided illustration.
DS-3E0520/28HP Installation:
These switches support rack installation only.
- Check the grounding and stability of the rack.
- Attach the two L-shaped brackets to the sides of the switch using the provided screws.
- Place the switch in the rack and secure it with self-prepared screws, ensuring stable installation.
Grounding
Purpose: Grounding protects the switch from overvoltage and overcurrent induced by lightning and ensures personal safety.
Methods:
- With Grounding Bar: Connect the grounding cable to the grounding terminal and the grounding bar.
- Without Grounding Bar: Connect the grounding cable to the grounding terminal and an angle steel buried at least 0.5m deep.
Port Connection
PoE Port Connection:
Connect the switch to the PoE ports of opposite end devices such as network cameras, IP cameras, NVRs, or other switches. The switch supports auto MDI/MDIX, allowing the use of straight-through or crossover cables.
Fiber Optical Port Connection:
- Avoid bending fiber optic cables with a curvature radius less than 10 cm.
- Do not look directly at the fiber optic connector, as the laser can be harmful to eyes.
- Connect the two paired SFP optical modules with an optical fiber.
- Smoothly plug the SFP optical module into the switch's SFP port slot until it is securely attached.
- After powering on the switch, check the Link/Act indicator. A lit indicator signifies a connected link; an unlit indicator means the link is disconnected. Verify the cable connection and ensure the opposite device is powered on.
Power-On Checking
Before powering on your switch, ensure:
- The operating power supply complies with the rated input standard.
- Port cables and grounding cables are correctly connected.
- If outdoor cabling is used, a lightning rod and lightning arrester are connected to the cable.
Use the attached power cord to power up the switch.
Indicator Status:
Indicator | Status | Description |
---|---|---|
PWR | Solid | The switch is powered on normally. |
Unlit | No power supply connected or power supply is abnormal. | |
Link/Act | Solid | The port is connected. |
Blinking | The port is transmitting data. | |
Unlit | The port is disconnected or connection is abnormal. | |
PoE | Solid | The switch provides power supply to PD normally. |
Unlit | The switch is disconnected from PD, or provides power supply to PD abnormally. | |
PoE-MAX | Solid | The output power of the switch is about to reach or has reached the upper limit. Power supply may be abnormal if more devices are connected. |
Unlit | The switch provides power supply to PD normally. |
