Warning

To avoid possible electric shock or personal injury, follow these guidelines:

  • [Warning] Do not use the meter if it is damaged. Inspect the case and insulation around connectors before use.
  • [Warning] Inspect test leads for damaged insulation or exposed metal. Check continuity and replace damaged leads.
  • [Warning] Do not use the meter if it operates abnormally. Have it serviced if in doubt.
  • [Warning] Do not operate the meter around explosive gas, vapor, or dust.
  • [Warning] Do not apply more than the rated voltage (marked on the meter) between terminals or between any terminal and earth ground.
  • [Warning] Verify meter operation by measuring a known voltage before use.
  • [Warning] Use only specified replacement parts when servicing.
  • [Warning] Use caution above 30V ac rms, 42V peak, or 60V dc, as these voltages pose a shock hazard.
  • [Warning] When using probes, keep fingers behind the finger guards.
  • [Warning] Connect the common test lead before the live test lead. Disconnect the live test lead first.
  • [Warning] Remove test leads before opening the battery door or measuring AC current.
  • [Warning] Do not operate with the battery door or case removed or loosened.
  • [Warning] Replace batteries immediately when the low battery indicator appears to avoid false readings and potential shock.
  • [Warning] Before clamping jaws on a conductor, ensure all test leads are removed from the meter.
  • [Warning] Remove test leads and clamp jaw from the conductor before opening the meter case or battery door.

Remaining endangerment: When an input terminal is connected to a dangerous live potential, this potential can occur at all other terminals.

CATII - Measurement Category II: For measurements on circuits directly connected to low voltage installations (e.g., household appliances, portable tools). Do not use for measurements within Categories III and IV.

Caution

To avoid possible damage to the meter or equipment under test, follow these guidelines:

  • [Caution] Disconnect circuit power and discharge high-voltage capacitors before testing resistance, diode, and continuity.
  • [Caution] Use the proper function and range for your measurements.
  • [Caution] Before changing functions with the rotary switch, disconnect test leads from the circuit and remove clamp jaws from the conductor.

  • 4. "COM" Jack: Plug-in jack for the black (Negative) test lead.
  • 5. "V Ω -0+" Jack: Plug-in jack for the red (Positive) test lead.
  • 6. Rotary Switch: Used to select function, range, and to turn the meter on/off.
  • 7. "HOLD" Button: Press to hold the current reading on the display; "HOLD" indicator appears. Press again to exit Hold Mode.

Operating Instructions

Measuring DC Voltage

  1. Insert the black test lead into the "COM" jack and the red test lead into the `V Ω +` jack.
  2. Set the rotary switch to the "600V -" position.
  3. Connect the test leads to the source or load to be measured.
  4. Read the voltage value on the LCD. Polarity of the red test lead connection will also be indicated.

Measuring AC Voltage

  1. Insert the black test lead into the "COM" jack and the red test lead into the `V Ω +` jack.
  2. Set the rotary switch to the "600V ~" position.
  3. Connect the test leads to the source or load to be measured.
  4. Read the voltage value on the LCD.

Measuring AC Current

  1. Set the rotary switch to the desired AC current range.
  2. Press the trigger to open the jaws, clamp the conductor, and ensure jaws are perfectly closed.
  3. Note:
    • Clamp only one conductor at a time.
    • For accuracy, position the conductor in the center of the jaws.
    • Do not touch the conductor with your hand or skin.
  4. Read the measurement on the display.

Measuring Resistance

  1. Insert the black test lead into the "COM" jack and the red test lead into the `V Ω +` jack.
  2. Set the rotary switch to the desired resistance range ("200Ω" or "200kΩ").
  3. Connect the test leads across the load to be measured.
  4. Read the measurement on the LCD.
  5. Note: The built-in buzzer sounds if resistance is less than approximately 30Ω in the "200Ω" position. Ensure circuit power is disconnected and capacitors are discharged before in-circuit resistance measurements.

Measuring for Continuity

  1. Insert the black test lead into the "COM" jack and the red test lead into the `V Ω +` jack.
  2. Set the rotary switch to the [Continuity] position.
  3. Connect the test leads across the load.
  4. The buzzer will sound if the resistance is less than approximately 30Ω.

Measuring Diode

  1. Insert the black test lead into the "COM" jack and the red test lead into the `V Ω +` jack (red lead is positive).
  2. Set the rotary switch to the [Diode Test] position.
  3. Connect the red test lead to the anode and the black test lead to the cathode of the diode.
  4. Read the approximate forward voltage on the LCD.
  5. Note: Reading unit is "mV".

General Maintenance

Periodically wipe the case with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Dirt or moisture in the jacks can affect readings.

Clean the jacks as follows:

  1. Ensure no object is clamped in the jaws.
  2. Turn the meter off and remove test leads.
  3. Shake out any dirt from the jacks.
  4. Use a swab soaked in alcohol, working it around each jack.

Battery Replacement

The batteries required are 3 x CR2032.

  1. Remove the screw from the battery cover.
  2. Gently pull back the battery release clip and remove the 3 batteries.
  3. Replace the 3 batteries, ensuring the positive side faces upwards on each battery.

Dispose of old batteries in accordance with local regulations.

Visual Guide for Battery Replacement: The process involves removing a screw from the battery cover, releasing a clip to access the batteries, and inserting new CR2032 batteries with the positive (+) terminal facing upwards.
