6. Fresh Food Compartment & Freezing
Fresh Food Compartment Temperature Setting
The temperature of the fresh food compartment can be adjusted according to the type of food stored.
- Push the knob upwards from the bottom to gradually lower the temperature in the fresh food zone.
- When the knob is set to 'CHILLER', the cooling zone can be used to balance humidity, suitable for maintaining optimal temperature and humidity for fruits and vegetables.
- When the knob is set to the top position, it is suitable for short-term storage of fish or fresh food. The food will retain its freshness without freezing, making it ideal for preserving fresh food.
- Tip: When the knob is set to the top position, it is recommended to set the refrigerator temperature below 4°C and store for no more than 3 days to maintain the freshest quality.
Freezing Fresh Food
- The freezer compartment is suitable for freezing fresh food and long-term storage of frozen food.
- Place fresh food to be frozen in the freezer compartment.
- The maximum amount of food that can be frozen in 24 hours is limited.
- During the 24-hour freezing process, do not add any more food that needs to be frozen.
Storing Frozen Food
- When plugging in for the first time or after a period of non-use, allow the appliance to run at maximum settings for at least 2 hours before loading food.
- Important! In case of accidental loss of cooling (e.g., power outage), thawed food should be consumed quickly or cooked immediately and then refrozen (after cooking).
Defrosting
- Frozen or deep-frozen food can be thawed in the refrigerator compartment or at room temperature, depending on the available time.
- Small portions can be cooked directly from frozen. Cooking time will be longer in this case.
Making Ice
- The refrigerator may be equipped with one or more ice cube trays for making ice.
7. Accessories and Tips
Accessories
- Movable Shelves: The refrigerator walls are equipped with grooves allowing shelves to be positioned as desired.
- Door Bins: To accommodate food packages of different sizes, the door bins can be placed at different heights. Gently pull the bin upwards to adjust its position.
Useful Tips for Freezing
- Freeze only the highest quality food, fresh and thoroughly cleaned.
- Prepare food in small portions for quick and complete freezing, allowing for easy defrosting of only the required amount.
- Wrap food in aluminum foil or plastic wrap, ensuring the packages are airtight.
- Do not allow fresh, unfrozen food to touch frozen food, as this can raise the temperature of the unfrozen food.
- Lean meat stores better and longer than fatty meat; salt reduces the shelf life of food.
- Ice cubes, if consumed immediately after removal from the freezer, can cause frostbite.
- Label each package with the freezing date to track storage time.
Tips for Storing Frozen Food
- Ensure commercially frozen food is stored properly by the retailer.
- Minimize the time between purchasing frozen food and placing it in the freezer. Avoid opening doors frequently or leaving them open longer than necessary.
- Once thawed, food spoils quickly and cannot be refrozen. Do not exceed the shelf life indicated by the food manufacturer.
Tips for Cooling Fresh Food
- Do not store warm food or volatile liquids in the refrigerator.
- Cover or wrap food, especially if it has a strong odor.
- Store fruits and vegetables in the designated drawers.
- Store cooked food, cooled food, etc., covered and on any shelf.
- Store butter and cheese in airtight containers or wrap them in foil or polythene bags to remove as much air as possible.
- Store milk bottles with caps on.
- Do not store bananas, potatoes, onions, and garlic unpacked in the refrigerator.
8. Cleaning and Troubleshooting
Cleaning
For hygiene reasons, the interior of the refrigerator, including accessories, should be cleaned regularly.
- Caution! Do not plug in the appliance during cleaning. Risk of electric shock! Before cleaning, turn off the appliance and unplug it from the power source or switch off the circuit breaker.
- Never clean the appliance with steam. Moisture can accumulate in electrical parts, causing electric shock! Heat can damage plastic parts. Dry the doors before putting them back into use.
- Important! Oils and organic solvents can damage plastic parts, e.g., lemon juice or orange peel extract, butyric acid, detergents containing acetic acid.
- Do not allow these substances to come into contact with the appliance's parts.
- Do not use any abrasive cleaning agents.
- Remove food from the freezer. Store them in a cool place, covered. Turn off the appliance and unplug it from the power source or switch off the circuit breaker.
