Quick Start Guide
Setup Options
Option A: Configure with Zyxel Easy Link App
Use the Zyxel Easy Link app to:
- Check online for firmware upgrades.
- Follow a step-by-step installation guide to set the WRE6605 to Repeater Mode.
- In AP mode, modify the WRE6605's SSID and password.
Download the Zyxel Easy Link app from the App Store or Google Play.
Device Overview
Front Panel Components
The front panel features:
- Power LED: Indicates the device's power status.
- WiFi LED: Shows the status of the WiFi connection.
- Smart Push Button: Used for WPS pairing and device reset.
Bottom Panel Components
The bottom panel features:
- Access Point Mode / Repeater Mode Switch: Allows selection of the operating mode.
- Ethernet Port: For connecting wired devices or the router.
Configuration Steps (Repeater Mode via Smart Push Button)
Preparation
- Ensure the WRE6605 is set to Repeater mode using the switch on the bottom panel.
- Connect the WRE6605 to a power outlet.
Initial Status
When ready for setup, the device shows:
- Power LED: ON
- Smart Push LED: Slow Blinking (indicating readiness for pairing)
Pairing Process
- Press the WPS button on your wireless router.
- Within 2 minutes, press the WRE6605's Smart Push Button for 2 seconds.
The WiFi LED will turn green, confirming a successful connection to your wireless router.
Finding the Ideal Location
Place the WRE6605 midway between your wireless router or AP and the area with weak WiFi signal. Maintain a distance of no more than 3 meters from the router.
WiFi Connection Status Guidance:
- Good to go: WiFi LED is Green.
- Needs adjustment: WiFi LED is Red. Move the extender closer to the router.
Once optimally placed, wireless clients can connect to your home wireless router or AP through the WRE6605, using the original router's SSID and password.
Troubleshooting
Resetting to Factory Default Settings
To reset the WRE6605: Ensure the Power LED is on. Press and hold the Smart Push Button for over 10 seconds. Release the button; the Power LED will blink, indicating the reset process has begun. After rebooting, the Power LED will be solid ON, and the Smart Push LED will blink.
Internet Connection Issues (Repeater Mode)
- Problem: No internet access via WRE6605.
- Solutions:
- Connect directly to the wireless router or AP. If internet is available, check if the WRE6605's WiFi LED is ON (indicating association). If it's OFF, try the association process again.
- Verify that the wireless settings (SSID, password) used for the WRE6605 connection match those of your wireless router or AP.
Slow or Intermittent Internet (Repeater Mode)
- Problem: Slow or dropped internet connection.
- Solution: Check the WRE6605's signal strength to the wireless router or AP. If the WiFi LED is red or performance is poor, move the WRE6605 closer to the AP and re-check the WiFi LED status.
Reconfiguration or Reinstallation
For modifying settings or reinstalling the WRE6605, reset it to its factory default settings.
