Congratulations! You have acquired a modern Z-Wave shield, RaZberry 7, featuring an extended radio range. The RaZberry 7 transforms your Raspberry Pi into a fully featured smart home gateway.
The "SmartHome" user interface is designed to look similar across various devices like desktops, smartphones, and tablets, adapting to screen size. The interface is intuitive and simple.
The interface visually represents devices such as temperature sensors (showing 25°C), light sensors (showing 755 Lux), heating control, LED strips, door locks, motion sensors, and smart plugs. The device can offer multiple functions from a single sensor, like a 3-in-1 Multisensor providing motion, light, and temperature readings, each appearing as a separate widget with its own settings.
Advanced automation is configurable via local and online Apps. These Apps enable rule creation (e.g., "IF [condition] THEN [action]"), scheduled scenes, auto-off timers, and integrations with other systems like IP cameras, Wi-Fi plugs, EnOcean sensors, Apple HomeKit, MQTT, and IFTTT. Over 50 applications are built-in, with more than 100 available from the Online Store, managed through the Main menu > Apps.
The RaZberry 7 shield is designed for Raspberry Pi 4 Model B but is fully compatible with previous models including A, A+, B, B+, 2B, Zero, Zero W, 3A+, 3B, and 3B+. Its maximum potential is realized when used with Z-Way software.
Several methods are available for installing Z-Way:
wget -q -O - https://storage.z-wave.me/RaspbianInstall | sudo bash
It is recommended to use the latest version of Raspberry Pi OS.
Note: RaZberry 7 is also compatible with other third-party Z-Wave software that supports the Silicon Labs Z-Wave Serial API.
After successful Z-Way installation, ensure your Raspberry Pi has Internet access. Within the same local network, navigate to https://find.z-wave.me. Your Raspberry Pi's local IP address will be displayed below the login form. Click the IP address to access the Z-Way Web UI initial setup screen. The welcome screen will show the Remote ID and prompt you to set an administrator password.
Alternatively, you can access the Z-Way Web UI using a browser by typing http://RASPBERRY_IP:8083
in the address bar when on the same local network.
Once the administrator password is set, you can access the Z-Way Web UI from anywhere. Go to https://find.z-wave.me, enter your ID/login (e.g., 12345/admin), and your password.
By default, Z-Way connects to the server `find.z-wave.me` to provide remote access. If you do not require this service, you can disable it via the Z-Way interface (Main menu > Settings > Remote Access). All communications between Z-Way and the `find.z-wave.me` server are encrypted and protected by certificates.
The RaZberry 7 Z-Wave shield is a compact board designed for Raspberry Pi. It features:
The physical board is shown with these components clearly labeled.
