Introduction
This document serves as a guide to the character mode interface of IBM VisualAge Pacbase, version 3.5. It details the principles and functionalities of this interface, building upon the concepts presented in the "Le Métamodèle et le Référentiel VisualAge Pacbase" manual.
Users are advised to familiarize themselves with the foundational principles before proceeding. For implementation details using the Developer workbench, please refer to its integrated online help.
Utilisation en conversationnel
The character mode interface offers various screen types for interaction:
- A welcome screen for initializing the work context.
- Hierarchical MENUS screens providing access to different functionalities.
- Work screens for consulting and updating the Base content, some with multiple presentation options.
- Consultation screens for instances and entity chains, including definition and description screens for viewing and updating instances.
- Commentary screens.
- Screens for requesting instance editing or generation.
- Screens for performing keyword searches.
- Screens for selective consultation of the Base's update journal and connection/disconnection movements.
Navigation between these screens is facilitated by the 'Choix (CH: )' zone located at the bottom left of the screen.
Principes de description
This manual describes various entities, with each description comprising two parts:
- An introduction explaining the purpose and general characteristics of the entity.
- An exhaustive description of the entity's input fields, localized within screen layouts by an order number referenced in the screen description.
