Introduction

This document provides comprehensive instructions for the Beaverlab DDL-TW2 Smart Telescope, covering its setup, operation, features, and troubleshooting.

1. Adjustments and Focusing

Pan Tilt Adjustment

To adjust the telescope's view vertically and horizontally, use the pan handle. Release the PTZ locking knob to allow movement.

Horizontal Turning Adjustment

Rotate the telescope horizontally by releasing the PTZ locking knob.

Focusing

To achieve a clear image, adjust the focal length adjustment knob. The image will be focused through this knob.

Use of DS1

The DS1 unit supports both wireless and wired observations. A wired connection requires an OTG adapter and is not supported by Apple systems.

Type-C Interface

The Type-C port is used for charging. The power indicator flashes when the DS1 is at low power and remains solid ON when fully charged. It also facilitates image and video transmission when connected to a computer via software.

Reset Button

Press and hold the Reset button to reset the device. Upon successful reset, the network enters a pending connection state, and indicators flash once.

1/4in Adapter

This adapter allows mounting the device on tripods with standard 1/4in interfaces.

4. Maintenance and Charging

Replacing the Remote Control Battery

Reminder: Ensure the positive and negative terminals of the button battery (CR2032) are oriented correctly, with the positive terminal facing outward.

  1. Install the button battery.
  2. Fasten the battery compartment cover.

Charging of the DS1

Reminder: The DS1 can be charged using a 5V 2A adapter. Avoid charging for more than 12 hours to preserve battery life.

  1. Open the bottom rubber plug.
  2. Plug in the Type-C charging cable with the power adapter for charging.

Press and hold the power key for 2 seconds to turn the device ON or OFF.

Shooting

Flip the touch screen to the desired viewing angle to begin shooting.

6. Connection and Shooting Methods

Remote Control Operation

  1. Remove the remote control.
  2. Switch on the remote control by pressing and holding the ON/OFF & shutter keys for 2 seconds. The remote control will automatically connect to the DS1 when powered on (ensure the remote is close to the camera).

Remote control shooting operation: After successful connection, click the shutter button to shoot. Use the arrow keys to switch between photo and video modes, perform real-time image zoom, and enter the photo album view.

DS1 Direct Operation

Short press the ON/OFF and shutter keys on the DS1 for direct shooting.

Touch Screen Operation

Tap the shooting and video keys on the touch screen to capture photos or videos.

Auto Shutdown

In WiFi or wired connection mode, the device enters standby after 3 minutes of inactivity. A short press of the power/photo key wakes the device. If not woken for over 15 minutes, it will automatically shut down.

  1. Connect the PC to the DS1 using a USB cable.
  2. Once the software detects the USB port, click the "Image Transmission" button in the pop-up window.
  3. Open the Windows software and select the device to begin observation.

9. Astronomical Observation

Moon Observation Guideline

  1. On a clear night, ensure the device is fully charged and connect it to your mobile phone for real-time image transmission.
  2. To search for the moon, turn on the red dot finderscope, locate the red dot, and use the finderscope to align with the moon's center by adjusting the PTZ.
  3. Adjust the focus knob until the image of the moon is clear.

For observing other celestial bodies, manually locate them using astrolabe-type software or a configured star-finding disc.

The astronomical telescope is equipped with a compass. Combined with the complimentary Planisphere, you can confirm the current sky chart and search for specific stars or nebulae.
