IKEA PLATSA: Your Guide to Modular Storage and Furniture Systems

Welcome to PLATSA

The PLATSA system from IKEA offers a versatile and modular solution for creating media, sleep, and storage spaces tailored to your home. Whether you have a small apartment or a large house, PLATSA frames can be combined to fit any area, including under staircases, around windows, or along entire walls. You can build solutions high or low, and easily adapt them with doors, shelves, and wire baskets as your needs evolve.

Care and Cleaning

To maintain your PLATSA furniture, wipe clean with a cloth dampened in a mild cleaner. Follow up by drying with a clean, dry cloth.

Assembly

Important: Two persons are recommended for safe assembly of the furniture.

Storage and Media Solutions

The PLATSA series provides flexibility with frames of various sizes, allowing you to build custom storage and media solutions. By combining PLATSA frames with interiors and exteriors from the HJÄLPA and LÄTTHET series, you can create personalized setups. You can also choose from suggested combinations or design your own from scratch.

Easy Assembly and Disassembly

Thanks to a wedge dowel fitting, PLATSA frames are quick and easy to assemble and disassemble. This makes it simple to move your storage solution if you relocate. The pieces click together without the need for tools.

PLATSA Open Frames

PLATSA open frames are solitary units that include adjustable interiors. These frames do not feature the wedge dowel fittings of other PLATSA frames, but their simple construction minimizes assembly time.

Safety Recommendations

For safety, always attach PLATSA frames to a wall. Wall-fixing devices are sold separately and should be chosen based on your wall material. If stacking frames, especially those 3 meters or higher, use the LÄTTHET suspension rail for wall attachment. Warning: Do not hang PLATSA frames with a depth of 55 cm on a wall; they must be placed standing on the floor or stacked on another floor-standing frame.

How to Combine Frames

PLATSA frames can be combined in numerous ways to suit your storage needs. IKEA offers popular combinations and encourages browsing more options online.

How to Build: Choose Your Solution

IKEA offers a wide range of PLATSA combinations online and in-store. If a pre-designed solution doesn't meet your needs, you can create a perfect combination yourself. The process typically involves:

  • 1. Choose Frames: Consider your available space and how to best utilize it with different frame sizes.
  • 2. Select Doors: Choose your preferred style and color for doors, such as plain white, traditional, or dark grey.
  • 3. Add Interiors and Exteriors: Select boxes, shelves, drawers, and other accessories based on your storage needs. Integrated lighting can also be added for better visibility.

Sleep and Storage Solutions

The PLATSA bed system allows you to create a combined sleep and storage space, ideal for maximizing utility in smaller areas. It can serve as a room divider, part of a walk-in closet, or a freestanding element to define a room's dynamic. By adding PLATSA frames (60/120/180 cm high, 40 cm deep) on top of the footboard, you can build storage solutions. These can be personalized with HJÄLPA interiors and storage boxes. The bed includes slats, legs, and a top panel.

The LÄTTHET footboard panel adds stability and a smooth finish to the back of your PLATSA bed structure.

Easy Assembly and Disassembly

Similar to the frames, the PLATSA bed is designed for quick and easy assembly and disassembly, facilitating moves.

Safety Recommendations

The maximum building height from the floor to the top of the footboard (excluding the top panel) is 220 cm. Do not drill holes into the footboard panel. For decorative purposes, no-drill hooks can be used to hang items like RIBBA frames (61x91 cm) on the footboard panel, with a maximum load of 6 kg.

How to Build: Choose Your Solution

You can select from various pre-designed PLATSA bed combinations or create your own. The steps generally include:

  • 1. Bed Frame: Consider your storage needs and room placement.
  • 2. Choose Frames for Footboard: Determine the height and function (e.g., room divider, clothing storage, display).
  • 3. Footboard Panel: Select the number of panels needed, noting they are 60 cm high.
  • 4. Choose Interiors: Select accessories like shelves, drawers, and lighting based on your storage requirements.
  • 5. Pick Door/Drawer Front Style: Choose the aesthetic for your wardrobe elements.
  • 6. Choose Mattress and Pad: Ensure the mattress is between 120-140 cm wide and 200 cm long.
