Built-in SXS Non-Dispensing Quick Start Guide
Operating Instructions
IMPORTANT: Before operating this appliance, ensure it has been properly installed according to the appliance's Owner's Manual. The Temperature Control UI is located inside the appliance above the crisper drawers.
For convenience, your refrigerator and freezer temperature controls are set to recommended set points at the factory. Upon initial installation, verify that the temperature controls are still set to these recommended points: 37°F (3°C) for the refrigerator and 0°F (-18°C) for the freezer.
Important Notes
- The recommended settings are suitable for normal household refrigerator use. The controls are correctly set when milk or juice is as cold as desired and ice cream is firm.
- Areas with higher humidity or extreme temperatures (e.g., garages, basements, porches) may require temperature adjustments away from the recommended settings.
- When the power is on, the temperature display shows the set point temperature of the compartment.
- Wait 24 hours for the refrigerator to cool completely before adding food to prevent spoilage.
- Adjusting controls to colder settings will not cool compartments faster.
- If the temperature is too warm or too cold, check that air vents are not blocked before adjusting controls.
- Allow at least 24 hours between temperature adjustments and recheck temperatures before making further changes.
Setting the Temperature (°F / °C)
Press the °F - °C button to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit. The selected temperature option displays when activated, and the LED is off when deactivated.
Adjusting Temperature
The following applies to both refrigerator and freezer temperature buttons:
- Pressing the Freezer or Refrigerator picture button once decreases the digit by 1.
- Once the lowest temperature for a zone is reached, the next button press cycles to the highest temperature allowed for that zone.
Temperature Ranges:
- Refrigerator: 36°F to 43°F (2°C to 6°C), factory default 37.4°F (3°C).
- Freezer: -9°F to -3°F (-23°C to -16°C), factory default -0.4°F (-18°C).

Alarm Functions
Door Open Alarm
The Door Ajar Alarm sounds if the refrigerator or freezer door is open for 5 minutes while cooling is active. The alarm repeats every 2 minutes. Close both doors to silence it. The feature resets and will reactivate if a door is left open for 5 minutes again.
Power Outage Indicator
This indicator alerts you if the refrigerator's power supply was interrupted and the freezer temperature rose to 18°F (-8°C) or higher. When power is restored, the button flashes, and a red Power Outage icon appears. While active, all other control and dispenser functions are disabled until you acknowledge the outage by pressing the 'Measured Fill' button to reset the display.
Miscellaneous
Crisper Menu
There are 4 preset temperatures for the Crisper Menu. Press the crisper menu button to select the desired option.
Control Lock
Press and hold the [Crisper] button for approximately 5 seconds. The lock indicator will blink twice and emit a tone, remaining on/off. When Control Lock is active, other functions are inaccessible. Pressing any button will produce an invalid tone and the lock indicator will blink three times. Water/Ice paddles are also disabled.
Showroom Mode
This mode is for sales floor demonstrations. Press and hold the [RC Temp] + [FC Temp] buttons for 5 seconds; the showroom indicator will blink twice and remain on/off.
Water Filter Indicator and Reset
The water filter indicator on the control panel helps you know when to change the water filter.
- Replace status: The water filter status display indicates it's almost time to change the filter cartridge.
- Replace Overdue status: A red light on the control panel signifies it's time to change the filter cartridge.
It is recommended to replace the filter when the status light turns red or water flow noticeably decreases. Change the filter sooner if water flow diminishes. The filter should be replaced at least every 6 months, depending on water quality and usage.
When dispensing water after the 'Replace Filter' icon is on, the icon blinks during dispensing. This applies to both 'Replace Filter' and 'Replace Overdue' states. Fourteen days after the 'Replace Filter' indicator turns on, it enters 'Replace Overdue' mode.
Filter Reset
After replacing the filter, press and hold the Filter Reset button for 3 seconds. The button will no longer display once reset. Refer to the Owner's Manual's "Water Filtration System" section for filter removal and replacement steps.
