Included Components:

Installation

  1. Turn OFF power at the circuit breaker.

WARNING! Shock Hazard. May result in serious injury or death. Turn off power at the circuit breaker before installing the unit.

  2. Installing the Mounting Adapter

The Vive hub can be mounted on various ceiling materials (thickness ranging from 1/4 in to 1½ in (6 mm to 32 mm)) using the provided mounting bracket.

    Flush-Mount Adapter Installation:

    • Cut a 6 in (152 mm) diameter mounting hole in the ceiling.
    • Insert the flush-mount adapter into the hole.
    • Rotate the three brackets outwards by turning screws to clamp the adapter to the ceiling. Hand-tighten the brackets with a Phillips head screwdriver. Do not overtighten.

    Surface-Mount Adapter Installation:

    • Remove installed doors to access optional conduit knockouts (for 1/2 in or 3/4 in conduit).
    • Attach the surface-mount adapter to the wall or ceiling using the included screws or appropriate screws for your application.
    • Alternatively, attach the surface-mount adapter to a junction box (4 in x 4 in (102 mm x 102 mm) square or 4 in (102 mm) octagonal).
  3. Wiring

    Power Supply Wiring:

    • Ground the junction box in accordance with NEC®/local codes.
    • Mount the power supply to the junction box, within 100 ft (30 m) of the Vive hub.
    • Make wiring connections as shown: Black (Line/Hot) to 120-277V~, White (Neutral) to Neutral, Green/Yellow (Ground) to Ground.
    • Maintain separation of the power supply Class 2 output wiring (Red 24V-, Blue Common) from other conductors by at least 1/4 in (6.4 mm) or by a non-conductive sleeve/barrier.
    • Note: Do not power the Vive hub with an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) or emergency generator power when emergency PowPak/Fixture Controllers are utilized.

    Vive Hub Wiring:

    • Run the low-voltage wiring (24 AWG-12 AWG) from the power supply to the Vive hub.
    • Wire the Vive hub terminal block: Connect Red (24V) to 24V- on the hub, and Blue (Common) to Common on the hub.
    • Contact Closure Input 1 (CCI1) is programmed by default for Title 24 Automatic Demand Response. Closing this input sheds the lighting load by 20%.
    • Contact Closure Input 2 (CCI2) can be configured during programming.
    • Connect the Ethernet cable for connection to Building Management Systems, wired networks, and other Vive hubs.
  4. Attaching the Vive Hub to the Adapter

    • Insert and twist the Vive hub clockwise into the mounting adapter until it locks into place. For flush-mount, twist until flush with the ceiling. For surface-mount, twist until it clicks.
  5. Turn ON power at the circuit breaker.

  6. Programming

The Vive hub can be set up using the Lutron Vive app on any Wi-Fi enabled iOS or Android device.

    • Download the Lutron Vive app from the App Store or Google Play.
    • Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions.

  • Hold the button on the back of the Vive hub for 30 seconds or until the LED flashes white.
Cannot connect over Wi-Fi
  • Move closer to the Vive hub.
  • Verify that the power is connected to the hub.
  • Check Wi-Fi settings on the smart device.
  • Connect over Ethernet and verify that Wi-Fi is enabled on the hub.
Cannot connect over Ethernet
  • Verify that the power is connected to the Vive hub.
  • Verify that the wired Ethernet is connected properly.
  • Verify that the Ethernet cable is less than 328 ft (100 m) in length.
LED is Off
  • Verify that the power is connected to the Vive hub. The LED should blink once every 10 seconds if powered properly.
LED is red
  • Contact Lutron if the red LED is maintained for more than 30 seconds or occurs periodically.
LED is blue
  • Contact Lutron.
External events (such as Automatic Demand Response) are not triggering
  • Verify the contact closure input 1 is connected.
  • Check the programming for contact closure inputs.

RF Coverage

The Vive Hub has a maximum RF range of 71 ft (22 m) for Clear Connect devices and Wi-Fi. This range can extend up to 100 ft (30.5 m) in open office environments.
