Set-up Net

  1. Search for "Kinetic Switch" in the App Store or scan the QR code to download and install the app.
  2. Connect the gateway to a power supply. Ensure the red indicator blinks rapidly. If it behaves differently, long-press the function key for 5 seconds until the red indicator is steady.
  3. Connect to a 2.4GHz WiFi network (5G WiFi is not supported). Navigate to the "Home" section of the app and tap the "+" icon in the top right corner.
  4. Select "Gateway and other," then choose "WiFi Smart Gateway" and follow the on-screen prompts.
  5. The device will appear on the "Home" page after successful addition.

Add Sub-devices

(1) Add Quickly

This method is for adding wireless receivers and socket devices. Wireless switches and sensors require manual addition.

Automatic Search Procedure:

  1. Turn off the sub-device, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on to activate it.
  2. Once the gateway is operational, enter the Gateway interface in the app, click "Gateway," and switch to the gateway function.
  3. Click "[Add Quickly icon]", and the gateway's red indicator will blink slowly (once per second).
  4. The gateway will automatically detect surrounding devices. These devices will be visible on the app's home page.

Adding Wireless Switches: Wireless switches function as scene panels, triggering specified scenes set in the app.

General Procedure for Wireless Switch: When adding a sub-device, press the wireless switch six times within 3 seconds. If the switch has 2 or 3 keys, press all keys. Refer to the wireless switch manual for details. If devices cannot be added, reset them to factory default and try again (follow steps in "Add Quickly").

(2) Add Manually

This mode is for adding all types of sub-devices, including wireless receivers, switches, and sensors. The gateway's red indicator will blink slowly (once per second) when in manual add mode.

Add Receiver

  1. Ensure the gateway is connected to the network and the receiver is powered on.
  2. On the app's home page, tap the "+" icon in the top right corner.
  3. Select "Light Control" from the left menu and choose an icon corresponding to the product type.
  4. Select the desired gateway from the pop-up list.
  5. Follow the app's instructions to add the sub-device. It will appear on the app's home page upon successful addition.

General Procedure for Receiver: When adding a sub-device, press the pair button on the receiver three times. Consult the wireless receiver's manual for specifics. If the device fails to add, reset it to factory default and retry (refer to "Add Quickly" steps).

Add Wireless Switch

  1. Ensure the gateway is connected to the network and the receiver is powered on.
  2. On the app's home page, tap the "+" icon in the top right corner.
  3. Select "Wireless Switch" from the left menu and choose an icon based on the product type.

Add Sensor

  1. Ensure the gateway is connected to the network and powered on.
  2. On the app's home page, tap the "+" icon in the top right corner.
  3. Select "Sensor" from the left menu and choose an icon based on the product type.
  4. Select the desired gateway.
  5. Follow the app's instructions to add the sub-device. It will appear on the app's home page upon successful addition.

General Procedures for Sensors: When adding sub-devices, press the PIR's pair button three times for pairing. For a door sensor, open and close the door three times. Refer to the wireless switch manual for details. If the device cannot be added, reset it to factory default and try again (procedures are the same as "Add Quickly").

Note: When PIR or Door sensors are added, scene control becomes available via the app. For example, a PIR detecting motion can turn on living room lights, or lights can automatically turn on at night when motion is detected.

Doorbell Function

The gateway supports doorbell functionality, allowing volume adjustment and ringtone selection via the app. It can be paired with up to 10 transmitters and supports 10 ringtones.

1) Transmitter Pairing

Navigate to the "doorbell" interface, tap the "+" pairing button, select "Start Pair," choose the desired ringtone, and confirm. The green indicator will blink once per second. Press the wireless transmitter once; the green indicator will stop blinking, indicating successful pairing. An icon will appear in the doorbell interface, which can be tapped to change ringtones. Transmitters can also be renamed.

App screen showing doorbell pairing options: "doorbell gateway", "WiFi Smart Doorbell", "Middle", "+", "Pair".

(2) Clear Pairing

In the "doorbell" interface, tap the "+" pairing button, select "Clear Pair," choose the transmitters to remove, and confirm to erase pairing. Follow the "Transmitter pairing" steps to establish new pairs.

Factory Default Setting

The gateway can be reset to factory default through the app. This action will remove all paired devices, including wireless controllers, switches, and sensors.

  1. Enter the Gateway page and tap the icon in the top right corner.
  2. Select "Remove Device" at the bottom of the page. Choose "Disconnect and wipe data" and confirm. This erases the network configuration and unpairs all devices. To re-add devices, follow the pairing procedure.

Note: Selecting "Disconnect" only erases the gateway's pairing information; no devices are removed.

Other Instructions

  1. Sensor Trigger: When a sensor is triggered (e.g., a PIR detects someone), the app will send real-time notifications about the home situation.
  2. Network Modes (EZ/AP): The default network configuration is "EZ Mode." If connection fails, try "AP Mode." To switch to AP Mode: the gateway's red indicator blinks twice per second. Hold the function key for 5 seconds until the indicator is solid red, then release. After 3 seconds, the indicator will blink slowly (once every 2 seconds). Select "AP Mode" in the app's pairing mode (top right corner), enter the WiFi password, and click OK.
  3. App screen showing network mode selection with options "Cancel", "AP Mode", "EZ Mode", "Default".
  4. Wireless receivers and sockets connected to the gateway can be controlled by voice assistants like Google Assistant and Alexa after account binding. Details for binding can be found in the sub-device interface under "Supported Third-party Control" in the Tuya Smart or Kinetic Switch app.
  5. Once a wireless switch or sensor is added, it can trigger intelligent scenes via the app. For instance, pressing a wireless switch can activate a "home mode" scene, turning on living room lights and curtains. At night, a PIR sensor detecting motion can automatically turn on lights.
