General Description
The Quickie® Q700-UP M wheelchair is equipped with a seating system that provides excellent support for the head, torso, arms, and legs, ensuring maximum independence for the user.
The wheelchair should be adjusted by a qualified specialist. Incorrect settings can have negative consequences.
Intended Use
The Sunrise Medical Quickie Q700-UP M power wheelchairs provide seating and standing functions. They are intended for patients with spinal cord injury, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, polio, rheumatism, and other conditions limiting mobility.
Indications for Use
These battery-operated wheelchairs are indicated for medical purposes to provide mobility and repositioning, including a standing feature.

Maximum User Weight
The overall maximum user weight shall not exceed: 265 lbs (120 kg).

Safety
Follow all instructions associated with warning symbols. Failure to do so may result in physical injury or damage.
Symbols and Labels
Signs, symbols, and instructions on the wheelchair are part of its safety features and must remain legible. Replace any illegible or damaged labels immediately.
Temperature Safety
WARNING! Avoid contact with motors, as they can become hot during use and cause burns. Allow motors to cool for at least 30 minutes after use before contact or service. Do not expose the wheelchair to direct sunlight for extended periods, as parts can become hot and cause burns.
Moving Parts Safety
DANGER! The wheelchair has moving and rotating parts. Contact with these parts can cause serious injury or damage. Avoid contact with wheels, powered tilt/lift/recline mechanisms, swing-away controller brackets, and power elevating leg rests.
Choking Hazard
DANGER! This mobility aid may use small parts that present a choking hazard to young children.
General Warnings
DANGER! Ensure comfortable operation posture. Be visible, especially in low light. This system is set for a specific user; adjustments may be needed for others. Do not allow children or untrained individuals to use the system. Avoid spilling liquids (especially hot, sticky, or corrosive ones) onto the controller or connections, as this can compromise operation and damage upholstery.
WARNING! Do not use a wheelchair involved in a motor vehicle accident. Structural damage may have occurred, compromising safety. Discontinue use and have it inspected by an authorized dealer. Sunrise Medical recommends replacement if damage is suspected. The warranty is void if the wheelchair has been in a collision.
User Safety
DANGER! Learn the system's feel before riding. Develop safe usage methods suited to your abilities. Practice transfers with assistance. Never attempt new maneuvers alone. Familiarize yourself with your environment and potential hazards. Always wear a positioning strap. Do not use if the joystick does not return to neutral or if the joystick boot is damaged. Do not attempt to tip the system without an attendant. Do not allow additional riders.
User and Attendant Safety
DANGER! Never use footplates as a platform during transfers. Do not lift the system by removable parts. Do not use wheel locks as brakes; they are for parking only. Keep hands and body parts clear of moving parts.
Attendant Safety
DANGER! Follow all warnings. Do not stand or sit on the seating system. Work with the user and healthcare professionals to develop safe methods. Release motor brakes only when power is off and the system is on level ground, ensuring full control.
Attendant Control Safety
DANGER! Ensure comfortable access to controls while moving. Secure the controller. Set attendant control speed appropriately. Turn off the controller when leaving the user unattended.
Accessory Trays Safety
Vent Tray: Affects stability and weight. Ensure batteries/ventilator are secure. Be aware of increased chair size. Keep area clear when reclining backrest. Finger trap hazard possible. Not for oxygen bottles. Must be installed by an authorized dealer.
Swing Away Tray: Maximum load 5.5 lbs (2.5 kg). Do not overload to prevent breakage or instability. Do not place hot items on the tray. Keep clear of extremities and clothing. Ensure all extremities and clothing are clear when positioning the tray for use.
Stability Safety
WARNING! Removing batteries can cause instability and tipping. Only remove batteries when the chair is on the ground.
Transit Safety
DANGER! For transit, transfer to a vehicle seat and use vehicle restraints if possible. Use a forward-facing seating position. Observe clear zones for occupant restraints (FCZ, RCZ). Seated height varies. Rider must not exceed 265 lbs (120 kg). Use WTORS meeting SAE J2249. Ensure hip guides are mounted. Do not use WTORS relying on wheelchair structure. Remove and secure wheelchair-mounted accessories. Postural supports are not for restraint. Do not alter parts. Chairs involved in sudden stops/impacts should be replaced.
Occupant Restraints: Use manufacturer's instructions and SAE J2249. Both pelvic and upper torso belts are required. Upper torso belt should mount to the vehicle's B-pillar. A head restraint must be fitted. Pelvic belt angle should be 30-75 degrees. Upper torso belt fits over the shoulder and across the chest. Adjust belts for comfort without constricting breathing.
Warnings for Components and Options
WARNING! Using unauthorized parts or making unauthorized changes can create safety hazards and void the warranty.
Armrests
WARNING! Armrests do not support user weight. Never lift the system by the armrests. Do not use armrests for support during transfers.
Cushions
WARNING! Standard cushions are not for pressure relief. Consult a healthcare provider if you have pressure sores or are at risk.
Fasteners
DANGER! Use only Sunrise Medical-approved high-strength fasteners. Tighten fasteners immediately if loose. Do not over- or under-tighten. Do not reuse fasteners.
Footplate and Footrests
DANGER! Footrests should be at least 2 inches (51 mm) off the ground to avoid snagging. Ensure feet do not catch when transferring. Do not put weight on footrests. Remove or swing footrests away if necessary. Footrests must be in the down position during operation. Never lift the system by the footrests.
Positioning Belts
DANGER! Positioning belts are for posture support, not transit restraints. Improper use can cause severe injury or death. Ensure belts are snug but not too tight to interfere with breathing. Consult a healthcare provider if a pelvic wedge is needed.
Push Handles
DANGER! Push handles provide control for attendants and help prevent tip-overs. Ensure grips are secure and do not rotate.
Seating Systems
DANGER! Unapproved seating systems may interfere with other components. Consult a dealer before changing the seating system. Do not raise the seating system higher than 19 inches (482 mm) without consulting a dealer.
Upholstery Fabric
DANGER! Replace worn or torn fabric promptly to prevent fire hazards. Fabric deteriorates with use. Washing may reduce flame retardation.
Wiring and Connectors
WARNING! Never pull on cables directly. Grasp connectors to remove them.
Assignable Controls
DANGER! Understand assigned functions for controls to avoid accidental operation. Contact a dealer if unsure.
Power Seating Safety
DANGER! Use caution with reclined, elevated, or tilted positions. Do not operate power seating on inclines or while the system is in motion. Keep children clear. Be aware of actuator movement direction. Lift/tilt modules present a trap hazard. Do not drive on ramps/slopes with the seat elevated; return to standard position first. The system may automatically reduce speed in certain power seating modes. Consult your dealer about creep speeds.
Power Recline
DANGER! Beware of pinch points. Maximum user weight capacity is 265 lbs (120 kg).
Power Leg Rest

Double Tilt Module
DANGER! Beware of pinch points. Maximum user weight capacity is 265 lbs (120 kg).
Swing Away Joystick Arm
DANGER! Switch off the controller before adjusting the swing away arm. Be aware of increased chair width. Operate at low speed when the arm is in use. Do not use the remote as support during transfers. Do not hang items on the assembly. Hanging items near the joystick can cause unwanted movement.
Motor Locks
WARNING! Engage/disengage motor locks only when power is off. The chair has no brakes when locks are disengaged. Ensure full control and level ground when disengaging locks.
On/Off Switch
WARNING! Use the ON/OFF switch only for emergencies; it causes an abrupt stop. Return the joystick to neutral to slow down.
Motor and Suspension Springs
WARNING! Springs are factory set and should not be adjusted or detached. Never use a spanner wrench. Contact Sunrise Medical Customer Service for parts and service if springs need replacement.
Standing Position
WARNING! Elevating to a standing position must only be done on a flat surface. Never reach out from the chair in an elevated position due to tipping risk. The standing function operates multiple actuators simultaneously. Switch off immediately if the system operates erratically.
Transit
DANGER! For transit, transfer to a vehicle seat and use vehicle restraints if possible. Use a forward-facing seating position. Observe clear zones for occupant restraints. Seated height varies. Setting Up the Wheelchair
Sunrise Medical wheelchairs can be adjusted to meet specific user needs. Pre-settings are done by an authorized dealer unless stated otherwise.
Tool and Calibration Marks
An M5 Allen key is supplied for adjustments. Calibration marks are present on the seating system.
Center of Gravity
DANGER! Adjusting the center of gravity is physically demanding and safety-critical. This adjustment must only be performed by an authorized dealer. Adjusting C.O.G. influences stability, especially in standing positions.
Seating System (Fig. 5.1)
Extensive settings allow for optimum body support, including:
- Seat depth and width
- Backrest angle
- Armrest height
- Lower leg length
- Footplate angle
Seat Height
Seat height can be adjusted. Lowering the seat height improves dynamic stability. WARNING! Increasing seat height negatively affects dynamic stability.
Set Seat Depth (Fig. 5.2, 5.3a, 5.3b)
Use a 5.0 mm Allen Key. Remove screws (A) and (B) to adjust the back assembly. Align the back with the shift piece and armrest bar. Reattach bolts. Ensure cables are lengthened if greater seat depth is required. DANGER! Adjusting seat depth affects the center of gravity; consult your dealer.
Control System Program
The control system is programmable using specialized software and requires professional training. End users are not permitted to adjust these settings. DANGER! Incorrect settings can lead to dangerous situations; adjustments must be made by an authorized dealer.
Set Armrest Width
Remove screws (A) from the traversing tube. Move brackets to the desired position. Reattach screws (A) firmly.
Pre-set Reclining Flip Back Armrest
Armrest Height: Loosen screw (A) to adjust (B) for fine or gross adjustment.
Armrest Pad Depth: Loosen screws (A) by one turn, adjust pad (B), then tighten (A).
Armrest Width Adjustment: Loosen screws (A) with an 8mm hex tool, adjust (B) in or out, then tighten (A) to 45-55 Nm.
WARNING! Periodically check screw tightness. A loose arm pad can slip down.
Set Leg Rests and Footplates
WARNING! Be aware of your surroundings to avoid leg injury. Ensure leg rests/footplates do not contact casters. Leg rests are not for lifting. Be careful of moving parts.
Set Footplate Height and Angle
The power center mount footrest allows angle adjustment (90°-180°) and powered length extension. Footplates adjust +/- 5.0° angle and have a mechanical height range of 11.8-16.7 inches (301-424 mm).
Set Footplate Height
Use a 5mm Allen key to remove bolts (A) on the PCM leg rest. Slide footplate to the desired position. Tighten bolts.
Set Footplate Angle
Flip up footplate to access angle setting screw (B). Use a 4mm Allen key to adjust the bolt.
WARNING! Ensure at least a 2-inch (51 mm) gap between the floor and footplate when adjusted. Test with user weight. Incorrect adjustment can cause injury or damage.
Set Footplate Width
Remove bolt (D). Move spacer (E) to the outer side. Reinsert and tighten bolt. Repeat for the other side.
Pre-set Headrest
DANGER! Never drive without the headrest attached. Never use the chair without a headrest if a person is transported in a vehicle.
Headrest Height:
Loosen (A), adjust (B), tighten (A).
Fixed Height Setting:
Loosen (C), slide (D) down, tighten (C).
Headrest Position:
Loosen (A), adjust (B and C), tighten (A). Adjust headrest height and tilt cushion as needed.
Headrest Cushion Width:
Loosen (A), adjust (B), tighten (A).
Pre-set Fixed / Swing Away Controller
Bracket Depth:
Loosen (A), adjust (B), tighten (A).
Height of the Controller (1):
Loosen (A), adjust (C), tighten (A).
Height of the Controller (2):
Loosen (D), adjust (B), tighten (D).
Check After Setup and/or Adjustment
After initial setup or adjustments, check for any interferences between moving parts (joystick, armrest, leg rest, headrest, etc.). Ensure all moving parts operate freely and without contact with other components.
Seating Positioning Accessories
Lap Strap / Seating Positioning Belt (Fig. 6.1)
DANGER! Use only for positioning one person. Not for transit. Failure to heed warnings may result in severe injury or death. Ensure carer is trained. Untrained carers may cause delays.
Mounting a Lap Strap
Feed strap bracket ends under the backrest brace bar using the lower fixing hole. Ensure adjuster buckles are accessible and strap (A) is not twisted. Place washer on bolt, pass bolt through bracket, add another washer. Screw bolt into frame (B). Tighten to 6.8-7.9 Nm (C). Adjust strap for a hand's width gap. Ensure strap angle is approximately 45° and prevents user from slipping. Place strap loosely with buckle opening facing the correct side for the user.
Positioning a Person with a Lap Strap
DANGER! Ensure strap is correctly secured and adjusted. Too loose a strap can cause slipping and injury. Check strap and components for wear. Check buckle operation. Adjustments may be needed as seating position changes.
Using the Seating System
Making a Transfer
Consult your healthcare provider for personal transfer techniques. DANGER! Ensure controller is OFF during transfers to prevent unintentional movement. Ensure free wheel switch is set to 'drive'. Rotate front casters forward. Learn safe methods with a provider. Ensure motor brakes are engaged. Transferring alone is dangerous. Learn body positioning and support. Have assistance until confident. Do not stand on footrests; this can cause damage and tipping. Ensure feet do not snag.
Preparing for a Forward Transfer
Move wheelchair close to the transfer seat.
Remove the Front Knee Fixation (Fig. 7.1, 7.2)
To remove: Press red lever (A), lift assembly out. To refit: Press lever (A), place lower edge into receiver, push home, release button. Ensure assembly is fixed.
Lower the Center Mount Footplate (R-Net Control System)
Ensure area is level. Turn control system ON. Select powered center mount leg rest. Push joystick forward until footplates rest on ground (Fig. 7.3). Switch control system OFF before transferring. WARNING! Keep area around footplate clear of personal items and extremities. CAUTION! Do not hold joystick in operating position once footrest is at its lowest point.
Side Transfer (Fig. 7.4)
Perform forward transfer steps, flipping back the armrest on the appropriate side. DANGER! Move system close to transfer seat. Use a transfer board if possible. Transfer as far back onto the seat as possible. Flip armrest up to free space.
Curves
DANGER! Avoid full speed turns. Reduce speed when turning sharply, especially on slopes, to prevent tipping.
Breaking and Emergency Stop
Three ways to stop: 1. Release joystick (controlled stop). 2. Pull joystick back (abrupt stop). 3. Switch off control system (emergency only, very abrupt stop). WARNING! Never use wheel locks to stop or slow the system; they are not brakes.
Driving on a Slope
The wheelchair is designed for slopes up to 7.5° (6 mph) and 9° (8 mph). Standing, elevating, or tilting can affect center of gravity and cause instability. DANGER! Do not use standing feature on slopes or uneven surfaces. Stopping distances are longer on slopes. Be aware of potential instability. Lean forward uphill, sit upright or recline backward downhill. Return seat/back to home positions before slopes. If unsure, find an alternative route.
Gradients: Ascents
WARNING! Keep moving uphill. Steer carefully with slight left/right adjustments. Start slowly if stopped. Lean forward if necessary.
Gradients: Descents
Do not accelerate beyond normal ground speed.
Powered Seating Options
The wheelchair may have powered options (tilt, elevator, recline, leg rests, standing) operated without tools. A click sound during operation indicates caster lock actuation, which is normal.
DANGER! Powered options affect stability. Use only on flat surfaces. Stay clear of moving actuators. Use caution when driving in reclined, elevated, or tilted positions. Keep children clear. Do not operate power seating while the system is in motion. Be aware of actuator movement direction. Lift/tilt modules are pinch hazards. Do not drive on ramps/slopes with the seat elevated; return to standard position. The system may reduce speed automatically. Consult dealer about creep speeds.
Electric Standing Function
DANGER! Knee fixation and chest straps are mandatory for standing. Use only on a level surface. The standing function locks caster suspension. If locking fails, the chair stops safely. WARNING! Ensure knee fixation is in place. DANGER! Standing shifts center of gravity, increasing tipping risk. Use only on level floor at low speed.
Seat Memory Position
The system has up to 6 predefined memory positions (Seated, Supine, Pressure Relief, Forward Tilt, Transfer, Stand). Actuators track positions for ergonomic and safe operation. Memory positions can be personalized.
Retrieving a Memory Seat Position (Fig. 7.8-7.10)
Press 'Mode' button until seat icon appears. Use joystick to select position. Move joystick forward to reach preset. Movement can be stopped and resumed. Moving joystick backward from any memory position returns to 'Seated'.
Return to Drive Mode
Press 'Mode' button until speed indicator appears.
Saving a New Position to Memory
Connect switch to CxSM socket. Press 'Mode' until seat icon appears. Select position with joystick. Move joystick forward to desired actuator position. Stop movement, select actuator, move to desired position. Repeat for other actuators. Move joystick to desired memory slot. Press and hold switch, pull joystick backward for 3 seconds until beep. Release. New position is stored.
Delete Programmed Memory Position (Fig. 7.11-7.14)
Connect switch to CxSM. Press 'Mode' until seat icon appears. Select position with joystick. Press and hold switch, pull joystick backward for 6 seconds until a different beep is heard. Release joystick and switch. Memory positions reset to factory settings.
Troubleshooting
Override Seat Movement Mode
DANGER! This mode bypasses safety features and risks damage. Use with extreme caution.
Accessing the Override Seat Movement Mode
Locate the 'Override Seat Movement Mode' switch on the right armrest. With the chair ON and in seating mode, press and hold the switch, then deflect the joystick forward for 30 seconds to activate. A beep will sound every second. Seat elements on the display will flash. If CTRL+5, LEDs turn blue. Drive lockout (red turtle) is active. Memory/Seat Lift functions will not operate. Select single actuator axis (Backrest, Tilt, Foot Lift/Length) with left/right joystick deflection to move actuators at 50% speed.
Recommended Process to Move Seat from Standing to Seated
In Override Mode: Select Forward Tilt. Pull joystick back to horizontal. Lower Foot Lift to 90°. Ensure footplates clear ground; adjust Foot Length if needed. Select Backrest Recline and move upwards. Select Forward Tilt again and move downwards, watching for clashes with seat frame/motor. If needed, select Tilt Back and move downwards, watching for clashes with legrest/chassis. This positions the user for transfer or manual pushing.
To exit Override Mode: Power cycle the wheelchair.
NOTE: Override mode may not activate if there is no battery power, cut actuator cables, Caster Lock Actuators are not detected, Forward Tilt feedback is missing, or a module malfunction prevents seating mode selection.
WARNING! Contact your Sunrise Medical authorized dealer immediately after using Override Seat Movement Mode.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Proper maintenance extends wheelchair lifespan. Contact your Sunrise Medical authorized dealer for specific settings, maintenance, or repair work. Mention model, year, and serial number.
CAUTION! The wheelchair should be serviced annually by an authorized dealer, or semi-annually for intensive use.
General Maintenance
WARNING! Check fasteners quarterly for wear; tighten loose ones. Check straps monthly for fraying/wear; replace if damaged. Chest straps need replacement at first sign of damage. Discontinue use of any broken or loose components and contact dealer. Check Velcro straps for adhesion and clean off contamination.
WARNING! If unsure about performance, contact dealer. Ensure functionality after maintenance. Use like-for-like fasteners. Reapply thread locking solution. Check Velcro straps for adhesion and cleanliness.
Daily Checks
Seating: Ensure cushions are in place and backrest is fitted/adjusted.
Connectors/Cables: Ensure connectors are mated and cables/connectors are undamaged.
Clothing: Ensure clothing does not interfere with wheels or moving parts.
General Daily Checks
Visually inspect for correct positioning of leg rests, armrests, and secure fasteners. Ensure seat interface knobs are tight.
Weekly Checks
Connectors/Cables: Ensure connectors are mated and cables/connectors are undamaged.
Controller: Check joystick gaiter for damage. Ensure control system components are securely mounted.
Controls: Check for flashing lights on hand control (indicates fault). Test all electric options. Drive in all profiles to ensure proper performance.
General Weekly Checks
Check tire inflation. Inspect frame/base for obstructions. Ensure seat frame knobs are secure.
Quarterly Checks
Check straps for fraying/wear. Check for loose/missing fasteners. Inspect for broken components or unusual wear. WARNING! Contact dealer if unsure about performance. Ensure functionality after maintenance. A complete inspection/service by a dealer is recommended annually.
Cleaning Your Seating System
Wipe down weekly with a slightly damp cloth. Blow or dust away actuator debris. CAUTION! Dry all parts thoroughly if wet. DANGER! If used by multiple people, clean thoroughly to prevent cross-infection.
Cleaning and Inspection of Seating
WARNING! Tears, dents, or slack upholstery can affect posture and comfort. Wash removable covers at 100°F (38°C) and spin-dry; do not tumble dry. Wash separately. Remove foam inlays and close Velcro before washing. For non-removable upholstery, clean regularly with a damp, soapy cloth. Disinfectants may be used as specified. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
Hygiene Measures When Being Re-used
Prepare thoroughly. Disinfect surfaces contacting the user with a suitable disinfectant spray. CAUTION! Do not use solvents, bleaches, abrasives, or aerosols. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
General Cleaning Instructions
Remove stains promptly. Clean seat covers with dry foam cleaner or mild detergent. Clean entire surface to avoid uneven appearance. Avoid vigorous rubbing with aqueous solutions. Dirt stains (beer, blood, etc.) best removed with dry foam or mild detergent. Follow product instructions. Allow covers to dry for at least 48 hours after foam cleaning. For grease stains (pen, lipstick, gum), use a proprietary stain remover sparingly. Test in an inconspicuous area first. Do not saturate upholstery. Do not use a hose or pressure washer.
Cleaning Accessories
Clean trays, supports, headrests, armrests, etc., with a damp cloth. Clean controls with a damp cloth and mild disinfectant. DANGER! Ensure control is switched OFF before cleaning. Clean joysticks, switches, etc., with mild disinfectant.
Medium to Long Term Storage
Fully charge battery (at least 24 hours). Disconnect charger and batteries. WARNING! Never store outside, in direct sunlight, near heat, in damp/cold environments, or with batteries connected.

Warranty Conditions
- One Year: Sunrise-made parts and components (motors, gearboxes, electronics) are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of first consumer purchase.
- Batteries: Covered by a one-year warranty provided through original battery manufacturers.
Limitations
Sunrise Medical does not warrant: tires, tubes, upholstery, pads, push-handle grips; damage from neglect, accident, misuse, improper installation/repair; products modified without consent; damage from exceeding weight limit. Warranty is VOID if the original serial number tag is removed or altered.
This warranty applies in the USA and Canada only. Check with your dealer for international warranties. The warranty is not transferable and applies only to the first consumer purchase.
What Sunrise Medical Will Do
Sunrise Medical's sole liability is to repair or replace covered parts. This is the exclusive remedy.
What Authorized Dealer Must Do
Obtain prior approval from Sunrise Medical for returns or repairs. Contact Customer Service for RMA number and return instructions, providing model number, serial number, and description of the issue.

Troubleshooting
Override Seat Movement Mode
DANGER! This mode bypasses safety features and risks damage. Use with extreme caution.
Accessing the Override Seat Movement Mode
Locate the 'Override Seat Movement Mode' switch on the right armrest. With the chair ON and in seating mode, press and hold the switch, then deflect the joystick forward for 30 seconds to activate. A beep will sound every second. Seat elements on the display will flash. If CTRL+5, LEDs turn blue. Drive lockout (red turtle) is active. Memory/Seat Lift functions will not operate. Select single actuator axis (Backrest, Tilt, Foot Lift/Length) with left/right joystick deflection to move actuators at 50% speed.
Recommended Process to Move Seat from Standing to Seated
In Override Mode: Select Forward Tilt. Pull joystick back to horizontal. Lower Foot Lift to 90°. Ensure footplates clear ground; adjust Foot Length if needed. Select Backrest Recline and move upwards. Select Forward Tilt again and move downwards, watching for clashes with seat frame/motor. If needed, select Tilt Back and move downwards, watching for clashes with legrest/chassis. This positions the user for transfer or manual pushing.
To exit Override Mode: Power cycle the wheelchair.
NOTE: Override mode may not activate if there is no battery power, cut actuator cables, Caster Lock Actuators are not detected, Forward Tilt feedback is missing, or a module malfunction prevents seating mode selection.
