Description
This portable oil-less air compressor is designed to operate on 12 volts DC and plugs into a cigarette lighter power port. It includes a pressure gauge and a 3-piece set of inflation tips. It is suitable for inflating tires, sports balls, air mats, and other similar items.
85P AMP DRAW WARNING
Most automotive cigarette lighter/power ports handle up to 15 amps. Some vehicles may have lower ratings. The VIAIR 85P Portable Air Compressor requires a power port rated for 15 amps. Always check your vehicle's power port limitations and never replace fuses with a higher rating than the original circuit. Consult your vehicle's manual for details.
Important Safety Instructions
To reduce the risk of electrical shock or damage to your compressor, follow these guidelines:
- Do not disassemble or attempt to repair or modify this unit.
- Never allow children to operate this compressor. Close supervision is necessary when used near children.
- The compressor will become very hot during and immediately after use.
- Do not touch any part of the compressor with bare hands, except the ON/OFF switch and carry handle, during or immediately after use.
- Provide sufficient cooling time before storing the unit.
- Never operate the compressor near fire, flammable gas, or liquid.
- There are no user-serviceable parts; no lubrication is required.
- Do not pump anything other than atmospheric air.
- Never use this product while sleepy or drowsy.
- Ensure the unit's power switch is in the OFF position when not in use.
- Use only in well-ventilated areas.
- Use only in a dry environment. Protect the unit from rain, snow, or other moisture.
- Never carry the air compressor by the hose or power cord.
- Never point the air nozzle towards another person or any part of the body.
- Inflate items only to their manufacturer's recommended pressure.
- Do not leave the air compressor running unattended, as it could burst tires or other items.

Operating Instructions
IMPORTANT: Engine MUST be running while using this compressor.
Before attaching the power cord, ensure the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position.
CAUTION: The compressor is Moisture and Dust Resistant, but NOT WATER OR DUST PROOF. Never place the compressor in soft sand while running, as vibration can cause it to settle and draw in foreign particles. Never expose the compressor to water while running.
Tire Inflation:
- This compressor operates on 12 volts DC.
- Plug into a vehicle accessory power port for power.
- Turn your vehicle engine on.
- Attach the twist-on air chuck to the tire's valve stem.
- Turn the compressor power switch to ON and begin to inflate.
- When the pressure gauge indicates the desired pressure, switch the unit OFF and remove the air hose from the tire's valve stem.
- To check and verify the actual tire pressure, the compressor must be in the OFF position.
CAUTION: To avoid over-inflation, never exceed recommended pressure. Always ensure the power cord is uncoiled and fully extended to prevent overheating.
For All Other Inflatable Objects (Including Bicycle Tires, Toys, and Sports Balls):
IMPORTANT: Engine MUST be running while using this compressor.
- Use the provided inflation tips to fit various inflatable objects. Screw the appropriate nozzle into the tip of the air hose.
- Attach the nozzle to the item to be inflated and turn the power switch to ON.
- When the item is inflated to the desired firmness, turn the compressor off. Do not over inflate.
Maintenance Instructions
Turn OFF and unplug the air compressor. The motor is permanently lubricated and maintenance-free; never attempt to lubricate it. Clean plastic parts using mild soap and a cloth dampened with hot water. Avoid detergents or solvents that might damage plastic or painted surfaces. All other services should be performed by a qualified technician.
